Any Tony Kaye haters really need to watch this. :D I love Tony's organ work on the early albums. I'm happy that for Talk he was enlisted as strictly organist, other players were more technically gifted and flashy but everything Tony plays fits perfectly and sounds amazing.

Tony absoutley destroyed (in the best way possible) the Wakeman songs live. He's seriously underrated as a keyboardist that is a lot more versatile than what people give him credit for.

I love his Hammond playing

Nice to hear the roar of Kaye's Hammond B-3 Organ sound in the background- reminders of the original 1968-1971 Yes! ;)

I happen to have a Chris Squire limited edition Rickenbacker 4001. Found it by accident at Guitar Center about 20 years ago. It's number 322 out of only 1000 made, world wide. I emailed Rickenbacker to find this out. Never selling it!

8:45. Tony and Trevor sound great in unison! I think this is the best Tony has played the song! He plays Wakeman’s fast synth notes accurately...but on the Hammond. Basically, he plays the song in his own style, and it sounds great!

I saw this tour at Great Woods (outside Boston, MA) that summer. The band was experimenting with a stereo soundboard broadcast of the show live within the arena. In other words - you had the option to listen live that way.

Chris & Trev used to banter together quite a lot on stage, didn't they? No-one banters with Howe. NO-ONE!

Well there's that guy in the crowd who whistles and Howe asks him to stop whistling but I'm not sure if that counts....

So this is How Heart of the Sunrise would had sound if Tony had not left the band.

@DarkeningSkies1 I agree. At least, after 20 odd years, Tony got to play this tune HIS way finally. I don't know for sure but I suspect this was one of the songs that led to his bust up with Steve Howe when the band was working on what would become 'Fragile'. Howe had insisted, with support from Anderson and Squire, that Kaye start using more Moog and Mellotron in Yes compositions along with his usual hammond and piano. When Kaye refused, we all know what happened after that.

Howe actually clarified what happened with Kaye while working on songs for 'Fragile'. Kaye never really 'refused' to use keyboard instruments other than piano and hammond. He did say he would use them 'if that's what the band really wanted' except that's not what Howe, Squire and Anderson wanted to hear. They wanted the initiative for such things to come from Kaye himself and because Kaye had already made known his reluctance to use things like mellotrons and moog synthesizers, simply because he didn't like how they sounded, the rest of the band realized they needed somebody more willing to try new technology. I suspect they already had their eyes on Wakeman anyways, and had maybe already spoken to him about joining the band, which made Kaye's replacement a fairly quick and easy process. All they really had to do was substitute Kaye's parts for Wakeman's on the tunes they had already recorded, which was done quickly enough in time for their fall 1971 tour.

Talk was awesome but I'm happy they've made some of those KTA studio tracks with that particular lineup. :)

To say the Talk tour or album wasn't successful because people were sick of the Yes west lineup is ridiculous. It was unsuccessful because the band was on a crap label that didn't do much to promote the album or tour because they were too small. I would much rather hear Trevor Rabin than Howe anyday.

+TheBfuson0384 I really wish Trevor could have worked it out to get Rick on the album as he wanted.

+TheBfuson0384 Rabin is a whizkid great creator and fixer but Howe is unique and no one sounds like him Howes work is more melodic and thoughtful Rabin's got aggression and bite. Both suited their respective eras Rabin sound suits the greed and glitz of the 80s Howes work suits the more altruistic and introspective times of the 70s. Should have parted with Rabin in the 90s and found a new sound Talk came out at the height of Grunge soon after Cobain toped himself and became a legend the music of the time was more downbeat and cynical unlike the previous decades. Yes could not find the sound to fit the times.

Omg I adore Howe's sound and he's absolutely unique but if I was to choose between Howe's Yes and ARW I'd pick ARW every time.

Tony seems to have taken a few tips from Wakeman during the "Union" tour. This is much better than the YesYears version!

This is amazing sound/picture for a "bootleg"- was it filmed for South American T.V. perhaps? And indeed Jon was a tad portly- he had suffered an accident shortly before this tour and a recovery period where he packed on some extra weight (his stage clothes at the time tended towards cape-y/flowy things, even on the appearance this line-up did on David Letterman), if I recall correctly but I don't remember the details of said accident...

Thy were still simple Yespectacular (which coincidentally is my channel's name) here. They should have recorded another album after Talk with this same line up.

Did singing high make Jon sound like an Irishman ? Its incredible his voice sounds like his singing voice has become his speaking voice ps why are they talking to the audience in English in a Spanish speaking country ?
