I get not liking Trump’s personality but in my opinion we are facing a series of existential crises and this election will determine how we approach them. The combination of $34T in debt, US Dollar set to lose reserve currency status (see Saudi decision from last week), an open border, AI projected to bring unemployment to between 40-50% within the next 10 years, and at the current trajectory by 2034 the entire federal budget will have to go to paying off debt. The math doesn’t work. What happens to a country with tens of millions of unemployed people as well as tens of millions more taken off all benefits and tens of millions more illegals - all of whom will have no ability to provide for their families and a government with a dramatically devalued currency that cannot provide for them either? How is that honestly supposed to work? You then couple that with the fact that we sit at the brink of WW3 on two continents, the big war in the Middle East has yet to even start yet, hopefully Abraham Accord members will stop Iranian nuclear program absent American leadership but if they don’t that means there will be a nuclear arms race in the Middle East, and all the while China is encircling the Phillipines and Taiwan while Russian nuclear subs sit off the coast of Florida. Meanwhile, we’re also in a situation where between 2-5M “known gotaways” have entered the country. For context, these are people who paid the cartels tens of thousands of dollars to traverse the most trecherous terrain, risking death, to enter the United States but do so while avoiding detection and thereby forfeiting $84,000 per person per year in benefits. If even 2% of them are terrorists we’re staring down the barrel of an absolute catastrophe. That’s even more true when you consider the amounts of captagon that have already been seized at the border. If you’re unaware, captagon is a stimulant invented by and used exclusively by jihadists. It robs them of human emotion, particularly empathy, which enables them to inflict the type of sadistic suffering we saw done by ISIS and Hamas on October 7th. So at a minimum, we know right now there are more jihadists than invaded Israel on 10/7 in the US today, they are actively plotting to kill as many of us as possible, and the Biden admin’s official position is that 800 people brought into the US by an ISIS trafficking ring pose “no threat to the American people”. So they’re clearly not taking this seriously. It’s not like you have to spend time with Trump. You hate him, fine. But do you hate him more you love the country that your own children and grandchildren will inherit? This really isn’t a game anymore. People, especially older people, simply don’t understand even the threat to jobs posed by AI and that’s just one of many enormous crises we’re facing. When you combine them all then throw on top of it the weaponization of DOJ and extreme polarization, it’s impossible to imagine how we navigate the next few years avoiding catastrophe with policies other than those offered by Trump or RFK. Given that RFK cannot win and any sane person can tell you that the Democrats’ policies will only make these existential crises worse, this should be a very easy decision. That said, if the “Never Trump” crowd STILL cannot muster up the emotional strength to vote for him in November then they better be prepared to apologize to the children and grandchildren for being so weak that they proactively took steps that robbed them of enjoying the America that has blessed you so much. It’s clear to me that based on your remark you’re likely a homeowner over 50yrs old, likely white, with kids, a 401K, and STILL inexplicably trust the media to even some extent when they frame Trump as a monster. The guy is a 1990s Democrat except MORE liberal on social issues than 2008 Barack Obama. On policy, that is undeniable. He started no new wars, brokered more Israeli/Muslim peace deals than all previous presidents COMBINED, and averted wars in Ukraine and Gaza - something both Obama and Biden were unable to do. This isn’t a tough call. Hold your nose if you have to. The stakes are too high and it’s really frustrating to watch as a 32yr old having older generations who’ve already had their chance at the American dream so cavalierly piss away our chance based on blind hatred of a man you’ve never spent a single second of time with. All we can judge Trump on are his policies and his results and on that front anyone even suggesting that Biden or Obama were more successful is by definition a low-information voter or incapable of suppressing their emotion to think logically. Past generations were asked to sprint into machine gun fire. All that’s being asked of you is to just use your brain and dispassionately consider the policies and results of each president. This should be sooooooo easy and if millions like you are unable to do that then come ten years from now you better apologize to the younger generations for selfishly placing your own emotions above the country that we will inherit. Hasn’t your generation already done enough damage? By every metric your own kids will never reach your level of financial freedom. You guys did that. Most of us will never own homes, we pay into social security for you but we’ll never get that either. The least you could do is stop fucking us over in November when the choice is so blatantly obvious. You hate him? Fine. Change the channel and just let him secure the border and clean up the utter shambles of a foreign policy that Obama/Biden team has AGAIN engulfed the world in flames in with.
