Nice video. I agree that everyone involved did a great job with this set. The new cover to Close to the Edge blew my mind. Relayer, as you suspected, is the only cover that was left unaltered.
Thank you Michael! I gotta say my favorite of the new covers is Fragile, love the rainbow colors in the logo and the different variation of the classic cover used, I kinda feel maybe they should've packaged the CD-DVD/CD-Bluray packages like that. Cheers!
Hey Vets! I managed to spin The Yes Album today and overall I am very pleased with the sound. Considering it is a new mix and digital filtering is involved in the mix, the top end is a bit crisp but its nothing to complain about, its very three dimensional sounding, especially in places where it crescendos. Like I have mentioned, I am most common with the original mixes so I know what to expect but these remixes are great when you hear elements that were either buried or left out of the original mix.
I managed to spin The Yes Album and so far, very pleased. The top end is a bit crisp sounding which I suspect because it is a new mix and digital filters are involved but its not a negative aspect at all. It sounds very three dimensional and Chris Bellman did a fantastic job bringing these remixes to life on wax!
Hello Dylan. I only got ”the yes album” & ”relayer”. I haven’t been so much into Yes , but now , I think I will go for it. Haha , you always seem to point to uncharted territories for me , which I very much appreciate. Have a cold one and spin your newest find , bro.
Hey Roger! This box is essential and considering your small Yes collection, this is all you need in one shot. So far I have been very pleased with the quality of the product along with the sound quality. Really recommend!
Chris Bellman eh, thats very exciting. I just ordered some new pressings of the old mixes cut my Kevin Gray. I wonder how they compare to these remixes.
I do have the two Kevin Gray cuts (Fragile and Drama) and they sound quite nice. They did a reissue of Tales and there is no indication on who did the mastering but it sounds very good, may have been an in-house mastering engineer at the Optimal plant.
Thanks for the video Dylan, except for Relayer I already own the other albums, but I would be curious to hear what your take on the quality of sound is, let us know, maybe that will help me make a decision, take care my friend.
Sound quality is really great, top end is crisp sounding but not a bad side effect whatsoever, very punchy and very lively. If Chris Bellman's name is listed in the mastering credits, you can guarantee its good stuff!
