Yes! you can film and photograph the eclipse with your drone at totality without any filters. Be mindful though, you can only do it at totality, you'll have approximately 2 minutes- so plan beforehand and start now! Set a hyperlapse in memory, making sure it includes movement towards the sun at totality and lasts approximately 2 minutes, then pivots away from the sun after. Be creative with yaw, tilt and pan! Don't wait until the last minute. A one second interval (2 with processing) at 24fps will give you a 5 second hyperlapse of totality with the best chance to capture prominences, bailey's and the corona. Alternatively, you can opt for stills at totality: ISO 200, 1/100th through 1/15th sec.

@@flightographist Frankly I'm not sure. I had fewer flights last year than I ever had since getting the drone. Volunteering for a local org was a big part of the reason. Apr 30 is my last day, so expect to hit the trails again soon. I might just have to enjoy your output, which I am looking forward to. //Tom

My goal is to record the event from a very small island-the one in the foggy paddle video.@@TeeEmmCee

It could be as simple as a rising reveal hyperlapse..straight up, a 1-2 second interval for a 5 second hyper clip...say to 60meters. First waypoint set while the drone is low, so the camera is looking up at the sun, last waypoint at your end altitude with the camera pointed at the sun. That would be roughly 240 frames and catch the entire totality. Set to auto, it would look smashing! You could be even fancier with two waypoints in the middle to have a camera sweep down to the ground to see the shadow and then back up again,. I should add, you preset the hyperlapse and fire it up when your timer indicates totality , that way no solar filter needed.@@TeeEmmCee

@@flightographist I will have to drive a short distance east for full effect. But your instructions do make me even more interested. Thanks very much, Chris.
