it reminds me of the intro to 'Happy Days' when the Fonz raises a comb to his hair in front of a mirror and just before the comb even touches his hair he stops, holds his arms out, and gives a 'wow i look perfect' grin and his trademark 'Ayyyyyyyy'. I guess Astarion is cut from the same cloth 😉
Considering how Astarion hasn't been able to use a mirror for 200 years, we can surmise that his hair either naturally or magically forms the way it does. So yeah, he's not wrong
He can still see his reflection in reflective surfaces. Vampires couldn't see a reflection in a mirror because Mirrors used to have a silver back to them.
1: It very well may not be D&D vampire lore, and after a little bit of research, the RAW from AD&D says that a Vampire cannot see their reflection in 'Glass', which still means a Vampire could see a reflection in steel, or water, or any other number of surfaces. As to Vampire Lore, that's where the myth literally began. Mirrors weren't stolen because they were glass luxuries, but because the 'Mirror' was polished silver, and the Silver burned away the Vampire's reflection. There's also a brief mention in Brahm Stoker's Dracula that Vampires simply have no souls, and thus no reflection, but that means that Foot Stools, furniture, clothes, walls, and red-heads would also not appear in a mirror, soo... @@echowoods7977
@@echowoods7977 That’s not exactly true. He tells TAV that he hasn’t seen his face “since it grew fangs and my eyes turned red.” So he certainly has a clue about some of his features, it’s just been so long that he doesn’t remember his original appearance.
@@echowoods7977that absolutely is vampire lore you twit, Silver was seen as a pure metal and vampires, shockingly, were seen as impure with the blood drinking being undead and never going out in daylight. Hence why the belief that vampires wouldn't have reflections in mirrors.
It's a shame you can only have a party of 4. I usually don't have Astarion in my party, but he's easily the most amusing character. I think I'll start another playthrough after my current one, with Gale, Astarion and Shadowbae. Could be funny.
@@Nightraven26 I know, I've got it installed because sometimes we play with a total of 6 players, but I don't use the mod for my singleplayer playthrough. I think it'd ruin the original experience.
I actually hated his personality and voice for most of my first playthrough. That completely 180'd after the resolution of his quest though. How can you not like the guy after that fantastic performance when he kills cazador. I actually believed those tears.
What a sassy ass vampire bitch lol I honestly adventure with him cause he was wild takes on what’s going on. He’s not the strongest of the bunch but he’s the most hilarious.
lol I still think my best "They actually wrote that line" part is when shadowheart says Tav is "Better with your tongue then I expected" with a completely straight face. Can't remember when she said that, but it def had me cranking my head like - giirrrrl did you really just say that? Mhm.
She had the helmet on that supports healing (the imo. ugly one xD), so when I talked to her I didn't know what changed, but was assuming it was the hair so I just said "looks good", without knowing if it actually did xD Then I toggled the helmet visibility off after the dialoge and I was suprised that her hair was suddenly white xD Looks good though °J°
I am not sure, but when it comes to his actual character and arc? I feel like the writer was coming from a place of experience. It's incredibly realistic writing.
Game is amazing and I love how you like or hate the different characters because of WHO they are. Yes they brough personality to the characters so even the ONE (Astaion) that I cant stand it was done so well when I killed him it felt like a pay off from listing to all of his dialog except the very end of A3 as he was dead.
It is beautiful, but we have gael and lae’zel, i mean she takes more care of her hair then anyone else probably. Gale is just this natural handsome mf, no wonder he had an affair with a goddess
I just imagine a cutscene where you wake up earlier than usual just to see Astarion nagging Gale to be his mirror, followed by an annoyed "This wouldn't be necessary if you'd just teach me that damn magic projection cantrip!"
I wonder how you unlock convos like these,. I mean I am still in act 1 so haven't gotten that far with shadowheart romance, but I guess they come with time
