1. Maximum of 2months to build an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) 2. People who use your product should be telling others about it, if not you have a product problem 3. Put yourself in a position of not needing money for at least 1year 4. If you need to raise money do it fast, that creates investors FOMO (Fear of missing out) 5. Don't waste money on PR firms, do PR yourself 6. When you hire, hire smarter people than yourself, your first hires influence your next hires the most 7. At least 50% of founders should be technical or programmers
Thanks for feedback, good point, I didn't know that. I only knew he was employeed in the hedge fund where Bezos came across the idea of selling products over the internet.
The quality of this video is so good! I do have to push back on your final point though (NVIDIA saying everyone will be able to code soon using AI)…. NVIDIA makes its money selling the chips that power the AI models. Of course he’s going to try and hype the market up by saying they will be able to replace programmers. That just makes their stock go up. As a programmer myself wishing some of my daily problems could be solved via AI, I can confirm that it does not solve most coding problems and does not seem to be getting noticeably better with new models. Not that I am a ML expert by any means, but this is not looking like the future we are headed towards.
You make a really good point! NVIDIA definitely has a vested interest in hyping AI's potential, especially since it fuels demand for their chips. The idea that AI will replace programmers entirely does feel like a bit of an oversell at this stage. While AI tools have made some coding tasks easier, they’re far from solving the complex issues that developers face daily. In reality, AI might become more of a helpful assistant for programmers rather than a replacement, at least for the foreseeable future. It’s good to hear from someone on the front lines like you, as it helps balance out the hype with some grounded reality!
I also think AI will evolve to be more of a personalized assistant for people, not the scary thing that will take people jobs and slay humanity as portrayed in sci-fi movies. Glad to see that someone else has the same vision
Great content man, but some mistakes like Jeff Bezos, Evan Williams, and Reid Hoffman wasn't technical, but they were. They all have a technical degree, where Daniel Ek taught himself to code and started his business at age 14 and went on to study engineering at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, but dropped out of his studies to focus on his career in tech which was starting Spotify.
Thanks for the comment and for pointing that out! You’re right-Bezos, Williams, and Hoffman do have technical backgrounds. I’ll make sure to show better examples when it comes to non-technical CEOs who built billion $ companies. Appreciate you taking the time to share this!
I was trying to make a point, it doesn't have to be a tech startup in order to become big. Sure, most agressively growing business today are tech, but I would not discount other businesses.
bro, just learn how to code. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Also, founders that know how to code have all the traits you mentioned in heaps, because most people are so afraid of coding for some reason
I agree learning coding will teach everyone a new world, a diffrent way of thinking but I don't think you have to go deep and learn C++ for 5 years for example.
