According to biographers of McCartney and the Beatles, McCartney composed the entire melody of "Yesterday" in a dream one night. Paul McCartney suspects that his mother's death subconsciously inspired the song, “Yesterday.” On his appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, McCartney discussed whether losing his mother at an early age influenced his work.

I said best cover ever, even better than the first one, 😂. I love her voice Steve, better than any other voice in the world, and truthfully, I just love her as a person. She has always been kind and respectful, thoughtful and completely unassuming and humble. She has a great role model in her mum. Hey, did you ever get over to her Instagram page or her own website? Someone should totally clue in Paul McCartney about what this girl has done to Beatles music! Her covers since she was twelve are absolutely killer. They're total tributes to the Liverpool quartet (The Beatles, the eternal quartet of the universe). Honestly, I'm glued to every beat of Beatles music, and I'm always checking out the latest versions that pop up. But, for real, I hardly ever vibe with covers of my favorite band-until now (I mean, 4 years ago). What flipped the script for me? Emily Linge did. When I heard her belt out "Yesterday" with Simon Tomkins on guitar, I knew she had every right to be doing Beatles covers. In my book, not many people can pull that off like she does.

Great cover. As you may know, Paul's dream was in 1963, he initially was not sure the melody was original, the final lyrics were completed much later and the song was only recorded in 1965.
