That sounds like the best idea. I’ve been watching various videos on this machine, and have yet to see anyone using pulse on aluminum. It seems like that could be a major feature for thin steel or aluminum.
The video was perfect. In my opinion, the most important thing for any welder who intends to buy a good machine is to fully understand that machine, which you, my dear friend, took the trouble and showed us both the theory and practical capabilities of this machine with your skill. I wish you success and I look forward to your next videos.❤
Thanks for the review. Best one out there. I was already planning on buying it and already purchased two kickstarter deposits and now I am for sure going to purchase.
Thank you for taking the time to review the DP200, the best review on this welder so far and the one that sold me on it! The only thing I would have liked to see/hear more detail on is the "spot" weld feature but I am "assuming" it's as good as or better than the Arccaptain implementation.
Hi Marc! Thank you for your very kind words about my review! I really appreciate it!🙏😊 I apologize for not being able to go into detail on all the features of this welder. I had over 2 hours of footage that I edited down to 30 minutes as it was. A lot of people say my videos are too long and say that I should limit them to around 10 minutes because people won’t watch videos that are longer than that. For me, I prefer to give the viewer a real overview of how the welder works and performs so they can make an informed decision about whether this is a product that they want to spend their hard earned money on. Thank you again for your nice comment and if you have a specific question about the spot feature, feel free to ask me and I’ll explore that feature and let you know what I find. 👍😊Don
@@PranaTech HI Don, thanks for following up. I guess I must be the exception because a 10 minute review can't do justice to product like the DP200. I personally an glad you spent more time reviewing features and settings than actually welding but that's just me. As for the spot welding, I am only familiar with the feature on the Arccaptain, I don't have one but did see a review on it and thought it would be nice feature to have for thin metals. On that machine the current flow is timed when the electrode touches the metal and the trigger is pulled, the timing is adjustable to deal with varying thicknesses of metal. Now that I am considering the DP200 I wanted to make sure it has a similar feature, thanks Marc
Hi Marc, I played with it this afternoon and it looks to be a very simple setup for the Spot feature. It only has one setting and that is from .1 second to 10 second duration of the weld. The range of adjustment is in .1 second increments so you can really fine tune the spot welds. It looks to be the same as the ArcCaptain. One other thing that I just figured out today when I did the software update that they sent me, the memory feature has been enhanced with a notation for every saved program. This was a great feature that I wasn’t expecting but I’m sure happy they did it. I was planning to have to make a log of all my settings by number, but now I’ll add a note to each one. Hope this helps. 👍😊 Don
@@PranaTech Hi Don, Thanks for looking into the spot weld feature an it sure helps. It's simple like the Arccaptain, the 0.1 adjustment is great and is probably all that's needed, I can't think of anything else they could add to the feature. Adding notations to each saved program is really nice and I think shows they're serious about continuing to enhance the software. I was looking at others but I like Yes' track record and the path they're taking, I am going with the DP 200 and when my budget recovers I am going to investigate TIG! Thank for the excellent review and for following up, very much appreciated. Marc
Beautiful Flat Bed ! Congrats...I have been looking for a home welder to teach myself welding skills and wanted Pulse MIG for automotive sheet metal work, I could not pass this up for 399 dollars. There is nothing out there with these capabilities for that little money.
Yes, you need a graphite or Teflon liner for aluminum. I keep one mig gun set up for steel and one for aluminum so no changing liners back and forth. 👍😊
I think they are both great. The Everlast is a 325 amp Tig only so they are really not comparable. The DP200 welds as nice as any Mig that I’ve owned and I have two other Yeswelder MiGs that I use in my welding business and they have never let me down. The fact that you can mig weld aluminum with pulse for this price is what is really incredible. 👍😊
I got a random question i know you do a lot of welder reviews i was curious as to whether you woukd ever be willing to sell one after you review it? Im really wanting an aluminum mig welder such as this one but i juat dont know if i can save up this money in time for the kickstarter im a single father and money is super tight now a days. Also i really enjoy your reviews youve mastered putting exactly what a potential customer wants to see in a watchable video keep up the good work don
Also I watched your review you did on that also you were putting down some slick aluminum welds with the Spool gun and the mig gun itself. Honestly I watch all your welder reviews. I genuinely mean it that you've got the right formula for your videos. I'm always super impressed with your videos and your welds to be honest
Thanks buddy! I appreciate it very much! I did a huge amount of work and practice to get those welds. It took about a week of experimenting with settings and techniques to finally get those welds. I had about 20 pounds of practice plates in a bucket when it was all said and done. A lot of it was me training my brain to do the 4T method with Mig which I had never done before. 🤣👍
So it has just very limited and basic tig welding settings - what a waste! If it just have all the same settings open for the TIG - it would be no brainer! The fun part that this machine don't even need any parts to be changed as it already have everything to have even double pulse. Sad. Thank you for the good review - now I understand that I don't need this machine, next one probably, with all the settings open for the TIG.
Hi Sergio, yeah, if you want to Tig weld aluminum, then this machine is not for you. They are working on a big multi process welder that will AC/DC Tig and Mig and plasma all in one, but I have no idea when it will be released. 😊👍
@@PranaTech I don’t want plasma in the same machine. honestly hoped it has both AC/DC - tig and mig. Once again- review is amazing, thank you very much for making it so clear and professional.
Hi David, I just used the 8 foot gas hose that came with welder and hooked it up to my argon tank that is just out of the picture to the right of the truck. 👍😊
Surprised that you would weld that 1/4" mild steel with short arc when that machine does pulse spray. 1/4" is the absolute ceiling for short arc and most structural shops would either spray that or inner shield. If you get a bottle of c10 that machine would shine in that application- its literaly what its made for. Nice video nonetheless.
Thank you Scott! I appreciate your information. I have been contemplating doing dual shield for my structural steel welding for a while now. I do a fair amount of structural steel work and I know that dual shield does penetrate deeper so I think I’ll try some with this machine with pulse to try it out. Thanks again for the info! 😊👍
Hey! Sorry about the late reply. On 120v it is 25%duty cycle @ 120 amps and 100% duty at 60 amps. For 240v it has 25% duty cycle @ 200 amps and 100% duty cycle @ 100 amps. Hope this helps! 😊👍
The foot pedal controls amperage alone. Start and stop is by the touch of the electrode with the lift Tig start. The voltages for stick are 20.4v @ 10amps to 27.2v @ 180amps. For Tig the voltages are 10.8v @ 20amps to 18v @ 200amps. Hope this helps👍😊
@@PranaTech Thanks, I got their MP200 during the kickstarter, the specs weren't what they claim and I know better and expected only 60-80% which was an ok deal during that time vs anything on the market. Does the board on the production mode have conformal coating? They did not on the MP200. Corrosion of solder joints will eventually become an issue if left in the garage or outside. And don't forget grinding dust everywhere.
That is a great question! I have no idea about conformal coatings. My shop is very small and grinding dust is definitely an issue. I try to pull the case off once a year and blow everything off inside to keep that issue at bay. Corrosion is not an issue here in the dry desert, but I’m sure in areas with high humidity it could certainly be an issue combined with grinder dust. 👍
