you know what its really sad, titanfall 2 sold poorly because EA did that "stupid" sales. at the time we ate their excuse about wanting to compete with CoD. but now we know the truth, they were sabotaging T2 so it would put respawn in a place with no other choice but to sell to EA.

like someone once said, "if it looks dumb but works it aint dumb". that "business move did work, for EA. they wanted to buy Respawn, and by breaking their only hope of success, it worked. EA doesnt care about quality. they will do what they need to, to make money. even if they have to lose money in the process.

Prototypes End For now its dead and deservedly so, but I'd held off on that until we see whatever the next expansion for it fares. Pretty REALLY seemed to change their views on Destiny 1 after the Taken King.

That is happening right now in EAss Games... from the PR nightmare to their line of production in panic mode now that Bioware is a sinking ship... they brought it all by themselves... and I'm enjoying every moment of it. Microsoft purchasing EA would kinda be a bad decision RIGHT NOW. EA shifted a lot of its brand towards the "wilson lootbox" and most of their "value" as a company comes from that thing alone. The only things valuable are EA's IPs that they have gathered from the many corpses of companies they have consumed. Right now, EA is "worth" a lot. If I was a bettin man, I put it down that microsoft is indeed interested but is waiting on EA's inevitable implosion. They, like the rest of us, see the shit storm a brewing and another flop so soon after SBF2 will be massive.

Xavier 89 Well wouldn't you know, I've been looking into the FIFA community as of lately and there is a LOT of heat on that front too. People are complaining about FIFA 18 A LOT (bugs issues, lack of polish and Improvements, lack of will to improve) so even THAT front isn't OK. Sweet news I know. EA deserves every bit of it.

Take into account that the story in Destiny 1 was horrific, because of it. Then with the help of the community who stood by them for 3 years while they built a incredible game.. (I can not see EA supporting a game like that) And then they pissed it all into the wind with the sequel :'(

Anthem is simply Destiny 2-too. Top writers leave because EA tells them FU, we don't need depth, we need a trailer and loot boxes. And those with morals and a reputation to keep, leave knowing damned well, players will not come back to any Bioware game. You know, maybe I'm speculating a bit much here but it is an awfully big coincidence that some of the best and most lead writers on this game happen to quit right after Anita Sarkeesian visited Bioware and offered her "insight". For some reason she's got an unbelievably high amount of clout in the gaming industry, and an equally high amount of disdain for pretty much any video game plot ever written. Who knows what kind of "friendly advice" she gave them.

If you go back and look at Andromeda's development cycle, you'll see a very similar trend of senior people leaving over the course of its development. We know this now, based on articles chronicling its troubled development, but I saw the writing on the wall then and accurately guessed that they knew Andromeda was doomed to fail and were abandoning a sinking ship while the abandoning was good. Now, compare Anthem's developer exodus to Andromeda's and it starts to paint a picture of what you should expect. I expect Anthem to be a technical and narrative disappointment that will be hyped up to the eyeballs (and tightly embargoed) until release day where gamers will discover a mediocre game that EA has jammed to the gills with microtransactions in a last-ditch attempt to get some shred of return on investment. I'd like to be wrong, but I'm not holding my breath.

Not sure why this even matters considering EA has said that story based games (single player games more specific) are not popular anymore, and that "Games as a service" are the future. Games as a service don't need a narrative, right EA? Look at Destiny 2 and how well that's doing.

Dear Laymen Gaming, now that you're delving into journalism... Would you mind to take a look at the state of the EA Sports section, specifically FIFA 18, but from the gamers perspective? I've heard a lot about players also starting to complain and getting tired of bugs and lack of will to improve the online game (where the money is), please look into it. Some people even say matches are sometimes swayed a certain way just for random sake and that there is a Handicap that affects gameplay or just bugs that hinder the game but aren't fixed because who cares, the money is in the lootboxes, not in fixing shit. Remember the Adaptive Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment BS from EA, it could very well be in play there and people are complaining. What if they start to mess up their sports games too? What's left of EA then??? Totally worth looking into for a future video!

Adam Thompson Are you gonna pretend the ending of ME3 was worse than MEA? Despite the ending ME3 wasn't really a bad game, there were many good parts but it was flawed. I think many people didn't gave up after ME3 but did after Andromeda, and some other deluded people kept hopes till now I guess.

Adam Thompson Still doesn't make the whole game a bad one, mostly the whole ending since arriving on earth is quite lacking, but the game before that still had many of the things that always made ME great, it was a more uneven game, but a game I enjoyed for the most part. On the other hand Andromeda, even without saying it was the worst game ever like many, to me it was utterly forgettable, I didn't care for any of the characters, didn't care about the plot, it was just a totally average game that didn't do justice to Mass Effect in any possible way, ME3 is far from being the lowest point in the franchise.

Adam Thompson I did say kinda if you read a bit more and if you installed the extended ending while it wasn't fulfilling or truly satisfied it wasn't the worst ending to a game I've seen and your actions did have some small effect on the ending. I mean I felt more ripped from Mass effect Andromeda than mass effect 3 though I will say it still could have and should have been better.

Never had any faith in it to begin with. EAs preview of Anthem at E3 showed great graphics but as soon as they made it clear it was Multiplayer focused that was allready a major turnoff and the lootbox talk and Sarkeesians visit only put the nails in the coffin. That kind of stuff is par for the course with EA ofcourse.

I know someone who worked at Bioware as a tester in Edmonton. He said they had a multi-gigabyte text file regarding the world of Anthem when he left like 5-6 years ago. Maybe they have enough story? Probably not but who knows.

why all the worries? I mean the story for Anthem is going to be very simple. There once was a loot box. It was created by RNG. it ruled over the progression system as a true dictator making sure nothing escaped his attention . It ruined compelling gameplay and sucked content from the vanilla game. The end-game tried to overcome the rule of the loot box yet the lootbox was to strong. The end game was ruined and the game sucked. Because of it the game failed. The lootbox raged because of this failure. But it was to late the game was beyond saving. The lootbox retreated to his boardroom scheming his next plot and knowing he would be back even stronger at least as long as EA was around.

Personally i don't see Anthem as such a story heavy experience that i'm particulary alarmed at this. Would i prefer a well written, sensible plot in my looter shooter over some generic garbage bin offering? Sure. But that's not the main reason i'd play such a game for. Take Monster Hunter: World for example. I've played almost every game in the franchise, they never had much of a story to write home about. Neither does World, i'd even go so far as to say it's one of the weakest stories in the whole series (aside from it having cutscenes). Doesn't change the fact that i'm having a blast "playing" it, hunting monsters, grinding for loot and learning to fight with weapons i haven't used before. As long as Anthem offers a great core gameplay loop that's not infested with MTX and lootboxes i won't mind it too much if the story isn't up there with the best Bioware games from the past. I'm far more worried about the first few points than i am about it's story.

Well, Destiny _is_ the sole reason Anthem exists at all. EA doesn't care to be creative and inventive, they just want to copy whatever successes others have (even though it's been proven time and again that just because something is successful for someone else doesn't mean it will be for you).

Its EA you never know what kinda bullshit their gonna pull. The game is probably done already now they are just working on implementing loot boxes and dumb pay to win shit into it. Wouldnt be surprised if it was gonna release earlier but star wars happened so they are waiting for that drama to die down so they can pull the same shit again with this one.

Casey Hudson's tweet on Drew's departure is obvious spin -- he didn't write it and probably didn't even have the idea to send it out. Anthem development is flailing and EA is again proving its inability to intelligently handle a PR challenge.
