When cleaning your Yeti cups don’t forget to clean the lid and gasket. This lid and gasket were just cleaned a few days prior to this video you won’t believe how fast the nasty build up happens. Keep them clean! You definitely don’t want this nasty buildup on your Yeti tumbler cups, lids, or gaskets.

My 30oz Rambler was gasket cleaned after nearly a year of Wawa coffee runs and it was filthy. Thankful it’s clean again, as I cannot afford to take any time off from work due to sickness.

Just finished watching your video. I'm a brand-new Yeti owner. I used mine once to try it out. I took it apart and put everything in the dishwasher. I'll be following your advice too. I was wondering why you don't use the dishwasher on yours?

Thanks for sharing your tips on cleaning,after trying baking soda and water it lightened but with the coffee stain build up in the cup it required a little more thought so I used a MR CLEAN ERASER and WOW what a difference with little effort it was looking brand new

I apply a very thin layer of food safe silicone around the gasket as well. It will increase the life of the gasket and make the lid a little easier to insert or remove

Is it only me that doesn't bother with the lid. Tea keeps warm and lovely for 45 mins minimum without lid. If I needed a lid I think I'd go for the hotshot lid, they look awesome and look really easy to disassemble and clean.

We have 4 yeti tumblers, used daily for the past 2-3 years. I took all 4 off and they were still clean (never been off before). We only drink water out of them and usually always have a straw, maybe that makes a difference? You may need to let the lid/gasket sit in some vinegar water to clean that.
@JarvisOutdoors
@JarvisOutdoors 3 года назад
Thanks for the comment. After thousands of views and comments I definitely think it has to do with the type of drink. I think water vs coffee with cream makes a big difference. Thanks again

@@JarvisOutdoors Water might leave stuff too, just not as visible color wise. Especially if you don't use a straw. Saliva and other stuff from your mouth get in/on it. Especially if your eating at the same time.

I use a Q-tip dipped in vinegar. Gets in all the crevices. Then rinse. However... someone show ( please) how to put that rubber thing back on properly. Otherwise the seal is gone:(

Look at the gasket. One rib is taller than the other. Taller rib goes towards the top of the lid.

Have you been able to get the coffee odor out? I soaked in baking soda and warm water overnight but there's still a lingering smell of coffee.

Good morning. Thank you for your question. By cleaning everyday or after each use with Dawn dish soap and a blue no scuff sponge I haven’t had any lingering coffee smell issues at least nothing noticeable. Thank you.

If it's getting 'dirty' that fast, especially after a couple years, it could be the gasket is old and deteriorating. They're pretty cheap to replace.

I have a couple of the water bottles. I use a good bottle brush to scrub everything down-- the gasket, lid, magnet on the mag slider lid, inside of my bottles and inside of my cup.

They don’t recommend the cup itself go in the dishwasher, says so right on the care instructions. I put my lids and gaskets in the dishwasher, no harm in that, they are plastic and neoprene. I normally go a week just rinsing the cup out and on the weekend mix up some cream of tarter and water in the cup, let it sit overnight, wash it with soapy water the next morning and it is squeaky clean.

@JarvisOutdoors
@JarvisOutdoors 2 года назад
They do fit very securely. Especially the newer they are. With continued use it should get easier. That being said take a look at the black rubber gasket and make sure it is installed correctly. The larger protruding rib on the gasket should be on top. This helps the gasket fit the contour of the cup. Hope this helped. Thanks for watching!!

In 3.5 years of daily use from the same Yeti tumbler, I had never once removed the gasket. After seeing this video, I finally decided to remove and clean it. Guess what? It was absolutely spotless. Not even the slightest hint of anything nasty. After 3 years, there was nothing. It got me thinking... What in the hell are you drinking outta that thing dude?!

@JarvisOutdoors

Maybe due to the coffee I put in mine. I believe it is less likely with water only. Iv had hundred of messages and emails with people having this same issue.

Jarvis Outdoors make sense, I actually just dishwashed everything (took the gaskets off of the cap and threw everything in) and the lid and gaskets came out crazy clean and the yeti bottle itself on the interior had a weird sort of light yellow ish tint and I wiped out the inside and it was coming off. Rinsed with some fresh water and it’s all good now
@debdessaso
@debdessaso 3 года назад
@@anthonyb2990 I agree. When I went to wash the mug and lid, there was a bit of buildup under the lid but nothing under the gasket. After dishwashing the mug and the lid, the buildup was gone. The only reason I handwashed the gasket and magnets is because I was concerned that they might fall into the bottom of my dishwasher. In my view, if and when my dishwasher shows up at my office and does my job, then I'll happily do its job. Otherwise, if a product advertises itself as dishwasher safe, into the dishwasher it goes!

Take a look at the gasket. The two ribs that go around it one is taller than the other. The taller rib should be towards the top of the cup. If it seems like the lid won’t go all the way down easily it’s probably on upside down

Never take the rubber gasket off. It acts as a seal. If you ever remove the gasket it breaks the seal, allowing bacteria/grime to build up. You’ll need a new lid.
