Kotisiras is one of the best . . . this is a beautiful song.

Greece has many wonderful singers and Yiannis (John is the English equivalent) is at the top of the totem pole. Please, if possible, review his 6.35min song Etsi ki' Alios (As it is and different). The lyrics are heartbreakingly divine and his vocals are exquisite.

The English translation doesn't do the actual Greek words justice. If only you could understand the words as they were intended in Greek. Great voice

You nailed the style at the start. It is, as you said, melismatic, where the singers take a note and kind of express it in a non-flat way, stretch it out so to speak. It was prevalent throughout the European continent and Asia going way back in time. I believe you would thoroughly enjoy Farya Faraji on RU-vid, a Canadian-Persian composer who goes into great depth in technical matters and jargon, as well as the history of music.
