The series 66 slaughtered me on technical analysis. If anyone is taking that exam make sure you are tight on the time value of money. I'm in licensing jail for 30 days because of that.

So sorry it didn't go your way! Time value of money can be a sneaky topic for the exam, especially when it's tied to present value, discounted cash flow, net present value (NPV), and internal rate of return (IRR). Most test takers on the 66 report few questions on this topic (maybe 2-3), so I bet you won't see a bunch next time around. Regardless, it'll be a good idea to brush up on those topics in case you get another unlucky exam. If you have a good understanding of laws & regulations (especially blue sky/state laws & regs), product knowledge, and general suitability, I would expect you to pass on your next exam. Make sure you use your results to guide your retake study process. Pay close attention to Unit 4 (Laws, Regulations, and Guidelines Including Prohibition on Unethical Business Practices). This section is 45% of your test! If you didn't do well here, laws & regulations are likely your biggest area of opportunity. Good luck in 30 days!

@@BasicWisdom I really appreciate that. It's beast mode on that topic next week. I spent a lot of times on the rules and regs. I feel really comfortable with those and the products. The technical analysis was something that I had difficulty with. I think I was using study material that just was not bringing it home to me. It just really sucks because I start my finance training, so my schedule is going to be crazy. I'll definitely be tight on it, but I'll be honest I had more than three questions. I think I saw almost every rate I studied about. where I messed up in my studies is that I didn't really think they were going to drill me that hard on it. the test that I had seemed to want me to know how people would get a return on their money. And it was the middle of the test that was the biggest b****. I thought I was going to pass the thing how easy it was going in . Definitely a bell curve. 🤦🏿‍♀️ I missed it by five points

The two numbers 102 and 105 are misleading and should be given as 1020 and 1050!

Please explain why you are spending time to go over calculations that are not on the exam?

While it's not necessary to memorize the YTM formula, test takers have reported encountering questions like the one in this video, on the components of the calculation, and the purpose for the calculation. Candidates that understand the yield/price relationship and the current yield calculation can answer a question like the one in this video without calculating YTM. But, some prefer memorizing the formula. It can be done either way.
