Thats the only "vintage" amp I really like and probably could play. That attenuator sounds amazing. No loss of tone at all...

This is a great sounding amp. I like the built in attenuator feature, all loud ass tube amps should have that nowadays.

You obviously didn't get what makes this amp so bloody awesome! It's mainly the EPA (Electronic Power Attenuation) that made a lot of people pull the trigger on it! A Marshall Powerbrake isn't even close to the EPA and makes your amp sound like a muddy piece of shit! Nearly everybody bought it to have a 100w 1959SLP that you can play at a reasonably volume without losing any tone! Please stop talking crap about an amp that you probably never played! This is the best current made Marshall amp!

Yngwie Malmsteen 100 is not my cup of tea but one should admit that it's a great sounding amp with cool features like attenuation, a reverb circuit, self-biasing system and a boost circuit with a noise gate. I can't see any reason for it not to become the go-to all-around amp for any shredder out there. But it sounded best with the boost mode activated and the attenuation kind of suffocates the sound..

I own this amp and the reverb is good. The best thing is the EPA. It works great. I had it signed by Yngwie.

Yngwie uses it! He even recorded his album called "Relentless" and all the others ever since with it. He just loves the EPA so he can finally use it anywhere he wants to. It's a great amp and you should definitley try one out too!

This may actually be my "holy grail" of tone...This amp is the greatest thing I've ever heard. I would opt for a darker sounding cab myself, but over all, this amp seems to have anything you could ever need. It's like my '73 1987. A no bullshit amp, but with extra features that are actually useful to me. Those boost tones are AMAZING!

It would be really nice if you always identified the speaker configuration of your demos. V-30's, G12-T75's, Greenback reissues etc. Anyone who has messed around with different speakers knows that it makes a huge difference, so identifying the speakers seems critical for understanding the sound of the amp. Thanks!

Marshall amps should have these options as standard along with a master volume to create an upscale amp department. Priced accordingly, this would allow the buyer to possibly have the best of everything with that classic Marshall sound.

Not trying to be impolite right here but It's just not that easy as you might think. It's got a lot of great features that all work and sound superbly. If you're interested in a Marshall 1959SLP and you still manage to get one, I'd highly recommend it to you! Cheers! :-)

I like the sound of the yjm100. its the best marshall tone ive heard. but i noticed the bass decreases when he switched to 50 watts.

Been lucky enough to have a go on a demo model brought round by the account manager - boost mode aside, just as a plexi with the wattage attenuation all built in that properly works!!....allows you to tame the beast within for home, stage or studio. Can't wait til they finally ship.

i tried to mimic this amp with all the things you have listed (except for power brake....used a THD instead) and its not even close. trust me my friend, if you like the Plexi sound, you should treat yourself to trying one of these amps. I ended up buying two of them.

@MsEilert Not necessarily. Jumpering both channels allows you to blend the volume of each channel to give you more tonal options...

Heres a quick message to Marshall, Please make more Auto Bias amps, I`m thinking of switching to Bugera Infinium because they have that.

All of the 1959 amps I've played don't have nearly as much gain as the 1987. The volume difference between 100 and 50 watts is small, but the gain difference is very noticable.

Gibson Les Paul Studio Loaded with Gibson 490R at the Neck and a 498T in Bridge Position... and a strat (Yamaha Copy) loaded with standart Single coils

It's a 1959 100 Watt with a Marshall Power Brake circuit ($500). A BOSS noise gate ($80) And the boost function is a simple DOD250 Overdrive circuit ($40). For that you're premium dollar for the name. For half the cost you can get a Marshall 1987X Plexi, and a DOD 250. I don't even need a noise gate. And reverb on a Marshall amp is sacrilege.

Those Vanquish guitars (like Chris's in the video) play so sweetly! yet to find something that comes close!

I was interested in hearing how well the noise gate worked, but during the demo the guy kept turning the guitar volume down everytime he stopped playing. I would like to have heard him let the strings ring until the noise gate kicked in to hear it's effectiveness.

wow amazing amp. you can really have a classic marshall tone and a good metal tone as well. besides you can play really quiet at home with it. amazing! i wonder if the new zakk wylde head that is coming out will have the atenuator as well..

hard to find from marshall. for responsiveness and versatility i always turn to engl, but that's a completely different kind of tone. i guess that a modded jcm 800 will always be THE thing!

What kind of guitar and pickups were you using? Its not the amp believe me.

Not bad but shouldnt it have been paired with its own cab designed by the man himself? Great features set, even if you dont like YM. I like the Fargen retro with kt66 tubes.

i would never use this settings on that amp.... but, the amp sounds clear and so "open" and here so dirty and muddy...like a blackstar, or something... in real THIS AMP IS BADASS buy it, when you have the money for it!

the AFD100 is out n sold lol, if you had followed your the AFD100 website you qoulda seen that you had to tell your local music store to get it for you. I live in europe and i did that, and i've had mine for over 2 months now :)

I finally got the chance to buy a used one yesterday and it's truly amazing. BUT I have one slight concern.. The upper bright channel sounds like you'd turned everything on the EQ to zero. Which make the "clean" sound sound very bad and not bright at all. Now I don't know if it's supposed to sound that way or do I just have bad luck and have to repair it? (It sounds great with the booster on)

Yngwie has for decades now been endlessly vocal about his sworn loyalty to those early 70s metal panel 50 w non master volume marshall heads. Now a signature amp marketed on his name is a 100watt plexi type amp? And also get a demo with a humbucker guitar?

Oh how i wish , i am poor , and most likely unable to change that anytime soon for health reasons . I can't imagine ANY Rock player at least NOT being 100% happy with this amp . It has obviously had a lot of of , research , thought and input involved to create it .

Agree with you on that, JVM is sterile. Wish I could demo a YJM, always shy away from signature models. Wish Marshall would get a 2 channel amp that is reactive and possibly built with warmth and simplicity. Some diverse capabilities.

I think the 50 watt is better way to go more break up in the tubes

voodo do awesome mods. i personally play the engl ritchie blackmore signature, and it's one of the best sounding amps i've ever played. an it can do faaaaaaaaaaaaaar more than purple.

Engl ROCKS, had front rowat Judas Priest Concert British Steel Tour and they ran Engl. If I was in a Metal Band Engl all the way! I play classic modern rock covers and marshall works well, may pull out the Marshall 50 watt 2205 and have modded? Needs some tubes, caps etc. Do you know anyone good to do a rock Mod on the 800? Read about voodoo amps and Fja? But never did a mod before.

Not saying he's bad, I'm just saying he always gets the sound too dark. For example 2:20. Treble was nice, but he darkened it.

So you had a dark and shitty tone with those pickups? All i can tell ya is add a overdrive pedal and leave the amp gain for a good crunch tone. I have a HT stage 60 and i never crank the gain to max on any amp. I use a Boss SD-1 to boost my clean channel and another SD-1 as my main source for gain on both channels. A SD-1 doesnt add low end and makes the tone sound tighter for soloing.
