Anyone else notice something strange about the format of the comment page? We can't like comments any more and there are no top comments O.o

I think Bård is great here, and I would really like to know how the other guys roasted him. That aside, I think you left out a little, but significant part in the text. It's the line with Harald Eia where it should be (large letters): "You asked me before I entered the stage not to make jokes about your young girlfriend, AND I WILL, because she is at a very vulnerable age and a lot is happening to her body right now." :)

He left those words out, probably because it would be confusing in English to write exactly what he says. - He is asked NOT to speak about the girlfriend and he says "I WILL", with the meaning that he will agree not to speak of her. (That is grammatically incorrect) But then he goes ahead and does it anyway as a joke "accidentally" on purpose. - It's confusing grammatically, and only works because of his tone of voice in Norwegian. If translated with the accurate meaning and joke the subs should be: "You asked me before I entered the stage not to make jokes about your young girlfriend, and I won't, because she is at a very vulnerable age... "

You can use both, but the point here is not what is grammatically the most correct of the two, it is to highlight what Bård actually said. I don't think it confuses anyone, and I believe you underestimate our english-speaking friends. Btw, "He" didn't leave those words out, "she" did.

I happen to be English, but that's not really important. If you use "I will" the problem is moved to another place in the sentence. - Then the word "not" needs to be changed to "refrain" as the translation for "la være". "..asked to not.." needs the answer "..I will not.." "..asked to refrain from.." can have the answer "..I will.." which implies "..I will refrain from..". Yes, 'she', sorry about that. Edited: I wrote it very messy.

You're right, it's not important, and it doesn't make any difference. My point is still the same. But hey, I'd love to hear other peoples opinion on this subject. So whoever you are...bring it on!;)

I don't know, I don't think you could get away with calling someone a "full and unpleasant Negro" in America. We don't tend to think thinly veiled racism is very funny.
@LuvBugBlaqkHart
@LuvBugBlaqkHart 10 лет назад
talkingbowl have you ever watched any of the comedy central roasts...?!
@LuvBugBlaqkHart
@LuvBugBlaqkHart 10 лет назад
talkingbowl p.s. I'm also from the US and I'm not saying I find racism funny. I don't think you can collectively speak for your country though... I know a lot of people that find racist jokes hilarious but like I said I'm not one of them. I was just commenting on the fact that over here in the states comedy roasts are vicious.

Racism isn`t funny. Making fun of racism is! Norway doesn`t have a history that makes norwegians and norwegian culture all that sensetive to racism. Americans are more sensetive to racism, especially against blacks because of the nations history, but other groups might be more accepted to joke about. And minorities has a bigger accept for making fun of the majority, that is "allowed". A black standup comedian can make fun of whites and others because of history and how that has shaped the culture. In Norway, blacks have never been slaves or segregated. --In Norway we can fuck with eachother because we know we are all equal!-- Also, it is the "bad taste" factor that makes it funny! Racist jokes are only funny if everyone understands that it is funny because it is so ugly and in bad taste and that noone actually means it. The moment someone tells a racist joke or any kind of bad taste joke because they actually mean it and are not making fun of the bad taste, "the ugly" or just the shock value of the joke, then it stops being funny!

To those of you who thought he was really mean - I have seen some of the other roasts, and he was no more or less mean than the rest. Possibly less, and possibly funnier. Definitely funnier than some.
