Underrated film. I really love the moment where Goofy realizes he’s being tricked by Max to go somewhere else he had planned and proves it when they have to turn left or right and it nearly gets them killed. He gets out of the car without saying anything and stand there angry. It’s 90s cheese but it has a lot of heart to it.

Saw it randomly on TV in like 1999 or something when I was 8 years old. Expected it to be terrible, yet remember the father son stuff being surprisingly engaging. Remember absolutely nothing of the film now and would probably never watch again. Like Disney's version of Cat Stevens 'Father and Son' off Tear for the Tillerman, done through the guise of a silly throw-away movie.

This movie goes so hard. It has a couple of the most genuinely uncomfortable and tense quiet moments in all of Disney. Goofy and Pete's talk in the hot tub is such a tense scene because for one of the only times, we saw Goofy talking one on one with another adult and his dialogue and delivery actually reflect that. Like that dad side was allowed to rest for a minute.

It may not seem like much now, but as a child I found that scene genuinely difficult to watch due to the tension of it all. Really well done.

The creators I think kinda knew "everyone is gonna just think this is a Goof Troop movie" and knew this would go under the radar. So like say, The Brave Little Toaster, it was able to get away with a lot of more serious stuff

I love that as an adult, I can see problems with both goofy and max in this film. Like the whole thing couldve been avoided with a single 5 minute conversation that ended with max and goofy going on the trip AFTER his date with Roxanne

I've recently watched Emperor's New Groove (after learning about the insane story of the film's production) and I gotta say: in many ways, it was ahead of its time. Particularly impressive: with only *tiny* changes it'd be a hilarious comedy strictly for adults.

This movie serves as the Goof Troop finale (Yes, they gave Goofy a slice-of-life cartoon in the 90s; I don't know why but it's actually great). That's the sole reason this movie exists, and I am grateful for that.

I saw this in the theater when it came out. I really liked it then, and I honestly still really like it! Yes, it’s now dated and has its issues, but: Great animation and music, pretty subversive humor that works, and I always thought the hot tub scene and Goofy being passive-aggressively disappointed with Max were surprisingly intense and dark moments for a film like this. And yes, an 8-track….because Goofy is supposed to be lame and out of touch enough to still be driving a 1970s AMC Gremlin in the 1990s. 😉

What is the most frustrating about this, is that they missed *so many* of the main points of the plot and the emotional beats just because they're too busy *talking* and making random jokes, and they completely miss everything. Now they're halfway through the movie and the stakes, the emotional beats, the reconciliation---it's not going to hit as hard. I love all three of you dearly, but y'all need to pay the fuck attention lol.

Not bad for what it is. I certainly enjoy it, would not say it's great but didn't feel boring anywhere. Considering Toy Story and Pocahontas were going on at the same time it's fine. 7/10 sums it up, I would not look down on someone for liking it but maybe raise an eyebrow if it was their favorite. I like that there is no obvious antagonist, it's Max against Goofy with Pete being a factor in Goofy's internal conflict, and that's very interesting as far as Disney movies go. I might have to check the sequel which is even more aggressively 90s.
