It’s genuinely tragic. He’s so talented and has so much gravitas. He used to genuinely be my favorite actor but I simply can’t separate the art from the artist all I see is an absolute monster
@@Mister_Clean "Yeah, that’s one thing that you cannot bounce back from. You can be a boozer, okay. You can, you know, even drink… you know, drink-drive these days. But if you’re a sex-pest, you’re finished. There’s nowhere else to go. You can’t be an actor after that. You can’t go back on the TV. You’re a sex-pest and you’re through. The best thing to do is piss off to... Spain, or something... That's what _I'd_ do." -Todd Rivers, Garth Marhengi's Darkplace
@@toolatetothestory That's funny because if you knew even the first thing about the case you wouldn't be asking here about the bare minimum, which means your original take, as well as your new one, are likely just "thought about it for a second and thought up an opinion".
Judging by the budget and obscure studio names, I bet they got him because the fact he has any reputation as an actor at all was enough for them. To some people, bad publicity is better than no publicity at all.
Without saying much, I can guarantee you that is the case. Look at the director's previous credits and things will add up to why it is such a hot mess.
There’s an entire plot line in Bojack specifically about this phenomenon. Hiring “cancelled” actors because they grab headlines and create buzz Yea it’s sorta fucked
General rule: When you're making your big comeback movie after a sexual assualt scandal, maybe make sure the the first shot we see of you in the trailer isn't you spying on a woman through binoculars
This has "Red Dress music video" energy. Like it was made by the kind of folks that think switching to electric guitar stock music for your trailer is *_edgy._*
The movie was not shown at the Cannes film festival (the fact that anyone would even think this movie would be shown at Cannes is mind numbing to me), it was part of the Cannes market, which is where sales agents etc. show and try to sale their films to distributors. It's not something that's meant for general audiences.
@@DarthZombie510 look man if films like Gotti were in Cannes, anything can be in the festival. Hell even unusual movies can compete, like Shrek 2 in 2002, not out of the competition, that masterpiece was eyeing the Palm D Or that year.
So i guess Kevin Spacey is now in the realm of Steven Seagal-Christopher Lambert films of Hungarian productions straight to VOD To quote a philosopher: I get to live the rest of my life like a schnook *R.I.P Ray Liotta (1954-2022)*
Peter 5:8 is a warning against people like Kevin Spacey: "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."
@@raph6931 No no, it's completely unreasonable for her to have that reaction to Spacey being in her house. She's a woman, not the demographic that Spacey usually is on the prowl for.
8:14 I'm gonna say that was Spacey prepping to play pool in an over-the-top, "suave" fashion. Whoever made the trailer was probably instructed to crank up the tension, so they added the cocking of a gun over said shot of him, thinking nobody would notice since it’s so quick.
The Cannes part of this was that they were doing sales for it at Cannes, a lot of garbage films get distributors there, Back in the 80s, that’s where Cannon Films practically was birthed, doing pre-sales for these movies in the basement as everyone was fawning over the better films.
@@bhunt799 Why did you link to that tomato faced Incel POS? He actually compared Plummer being flashed by a teenager when he was also a teenager to Spacey molesting a child AND DECIDED PLUMMER WAS WORSE!
He's got the bloated ham-face from medication thing down. Now he only needs to apply himself to gain the weight for those sweet gigs where he only needs to sit in a chair and talk for 15 minutes while the other actors do the movie.
In a weird way, I could see Kevin Spacey's career going the same way Bruce Willis' did, for totally different reasons. With Bruce, his abilities were diminished by his condition, so he had to take low quality roles for quick cash before he couldn't do it at all. With Kevin, his acting never waned, he just a monster who decent people won't work with. But I think they meet in the middle with the desire to greenlight and make cheap and profitable movies banking on name recognition. I could see Spacey doing a dozen bargain bin movies just for the sake of being in movies and having his name out there. I guess what I'm saying is, when are we getting Hard Kill 2 starring Kevin Spacey as the villain he dies comically at the end?
The major difference is that Kevin Spaceys name is poison to most people. Even someone like me, who doesn't follow celebrities or watch that many movies, knows what Spacey did. Bruce's acting might not be great but he's not offensive to associate with or watch. I wouldn't mind wasting an hour or two on one of his movies, esp knowing about his condition, but Spaceys name is all I need to know about a production to know I don't want to watch it.
One of the reasons the quality seems low is there was a huge fire in the Dusnmuir area, it was smokey. I enjoyed being in this film, it was Rebecca De Mornay's daughters, Sophia De Mornay's first movie. This was my first movie too. You know it's good luck to die in your first movie in Hollywood. :) Thanks for playing my scene in the trailer a few times and sharing your thoughts, I might need an aspirin.... All of us here in Mount Shasta & Dunsmuir are very excited about this movie, it will be great to see me staring right back at me. I've worked hard for this, as all the actors , writers, producers and casting agents in Peter Five Eight. Thanks to anyone showing support for this film, I tried to do my very best. Many rivers to you, Jack Trout
This movie will do a lot better than it should based in its production quality… just because when it comes out it will be one of those movies that will have an online-presence since people will want to make fun of. In some cases it‘s true: there is no such thing as bad publicity.
@@jojbenedoot7459 But the problem is Adum is giving it some publicity, that is probably going to state the chain of events that will make this the new Mobius
This movie looks so bad it feels like the director is making a shitty flick on purpose just to bury what little remains of Spacey's career in a ditch. But yeah the people behind this are just awful too.
All Spacey needs to do to "make a come back" is call himself a Republican and to say "the left cancelled me because they've gone crazy." Bam, instant massive fan base.
Something something…God…something something…guns…something something…flag burning, knee taking, baby murdering woke trans snowfake furries wielding crt textbooks. Jeanine Pirro‘ll have a whole special ready for em
Eh, I doubt that would since even Republicans would see through that BS. Especially with how he sexually assaulted people! Something that everyone no matter what political party agrees is a terrible thing that a horrible person would do!!
Or he could say that “he was oppressed by a reactionary society’s ageist norms and talk about how his sexuality is reviled by right winger because of the patriarchy and Christianity and bam, instant massive left wing following”, see, it can be done the other way around as well, and it’s just as stupid and insulting as what you did.
No... Spacey, no. He can go live in obscurity with his millions, connections, and friends in high places. Or kick the first good bucket that comes his way. Anything but making us watch a sad droopy narcissist preen and posture for himself, at us. It revolting, but in such a bland and predictable way.. like leaving food out too long, and being urged to give it a sniff test. Can we kindly have the parallel universe where this sh*t just doesn't happen? That'd be great, thanks.
Seriously, he has enough money to fuck off and retire peacefully it disgusts me that he’s still trying to stay in the public eye. A comfortable retirement is already generous for such a bastard what more does he need
I haven't seen American Beauty, but I've seen every one of his other big ones (Usual Suspects, LA Confidential, Se7en, Glengarry Glen Ross, House of Cards S1, Margin Call, A Time To Kill, etc) and he's yet to impress me. He's been perfectly good, but not legendary or irreplaceable to any extent. Replace him with James Spader or Stanley Tucci in any given part and you lose nothing. Edit: I’ve seen American Beauty now. Honestly, he was pretty good. Annette Bening outclassed him, but he at least deserved his Oscar nomination (I don’t know who his competition was, but I’d say he maybe shouldn’t have won).
