Ymuno: animation by Suzybee, music by Steevio

"Ymuno" is a Welsh word, meaning "to join". The title represents creative collaboration, the connection between humans and other animals, and our collective human need to re-connect with the natural world.
This is a recording of my own animations which i have mixed live, using VJ software Resolume, to Steevio's music.
The music consists of three tracks by Steevio:
-Cynnal ("sustain") released on MT17 Animistas
-Empathi ("empathy") released on MT17 Animistas
-Taro ("tap, beat", also the name of a beloved hen who would tap on our window) released on UMHS 05
First shown in an exhibition at Mid Wales Arts Centre, Caersws, Powys, in September 2015.

Just love that tight snare. It's that 3" brass snare sound, short, with a nice, tight body and a crisp snap. Awesome. Well, the whole track is awesome, as is the animation. Thank you for this experience!

Hey, Steevio musician bit here, thank you for the kind words. Its actually an analogue electronic snare in my modular synth ( Analogue Solutions SD99 ) but yeah thats exactly what it sounds like

Are there any interviews with you available online that can help me untangle this beauty?

i haven't done any interviews but i make my hand drawn animations using Adobe Animate and i use Adobe After Effects for the abstract stuff. I've been playing about with the Trapcode Suite plugin by Red Giant which gives you lots to play with for abstract layers. Resolume Arena is a brilliant VJ software for mixing visuals live, it's really user friendly and intuitive. Thanks for asking :)

Hi Hannah, thanks! I use Resolume Arena to mix my animations live. It's a great VJ software and the guys who run it are really helpful and friendly :)
