Usually, when a sitcom tries to make a joke about a parent rapping to their kid, it just comes off as cringe-inducing. But Al makes it work. Love this show!
It's because Ed O'Neil gets the character and understands what it means to be part of the working class. His portrayal of Al Bundy is what carried this show for a decade.

@@williamzhao2521 - blacks created rap/hip hop. They demanded it to be heard. They demanded contracts. They demanded the fame which is the means of getting it heard. Now...it's detrimental to their image as a victim. It makes them look bad....they made themselves look bad exposing they act. in this case it served him right he should have known that white boys have no business rapping (eminem being virtually the ONLY exception). in this case he desrved all the crap he got for acting so ridiculous. I use to watch this hoping that Al would just take a moment to smack some sense into him.
That could be that bargaining technique where you ask for something extreme. *Then* you ask for what you really wanted afterwards, making the request more palatable.
The house was owned by the bank on paper, and he was STILL paying for the car after over 20 years. The global financial system was just as broken as today, just not this agressive and genocidal.
I wouldnt say outlaw, but definitly regulate. Look at Will Smith, his grandma found out about him using cruse words in his rap. And after she told him off he didnt anymore.
I would of done the same to my son if he comes to me with some funny thing like this. He acts that way sometimes. But he knows he's no outlaw he's just one silly of a bunch. Back then when guys use to do I use to give them a fake name.like Angie, short for my full name. And they leave me alone. Or wear a ring say I'm married.lol. But go figure they don't care.
