100% agree. 20 years ago I would get shit for liking those albums from some friends. I still do to this day. But I don't get sick of those albums. They still stand the test of time. Love it!
That would be epic if he could get Glen Benton, he even mentioned maybe getting Tom Angelripper (he lives in Germany so that one is less likely)! The two best figureheads in extreme metal in my opinion plus they both are gun nuts!

That was great. I am 54 and in two bands (Post Mortem Superstar/Black Heroin Gallery) One is Extreme Diverse Metal, the other Old School Deathrock. My passion is underground Metal but I also love other styles of music. Music is a gift and should be about unity. It's really great to see two figureheads discussing ways to expound upon the underground. Both Jaime and J Dawg have differing views and grew up in different generations but they refuse to be offended. They simply learn from each other and find many common bonds. One band I think needs more love is Nuclear Death. One of the first (if not first) bands to utilize a woman (Lori Bravo) on Vocals/Bass. Definitely unsung pioneers of the underground. NO ONE sounded like them. A unique universe unto themselves.
Dude yeah. Don't get offended, don't be a petty child. Learn, grow, experience. People get so attached to ego and its self depreciating . Also black herion gallery is a awsome band name \m/
I don't think gatekeeping is anything more than hurt feelings. The division is different scenes. You'll find some crossover in some scenes, but typically, you're not seeing a deathcore fan into underground death metal and vice versa. It's more about hurt feelings that someone doesn't like what you do. If you got into heavy music for the title of "being metal," then you're not into music. You're into image. Words like poser don't offend me because I'm true to myself. Shit talk never hurt anyone. Teaching people to be overly sensitive does.
People take constructive criticism personal. They don't realize life is hard work and self reliance. They want safe spaces, diversity over meritocracy, and they want others to pay for their lifestyle. And if you don't then you get labeled "racist."
At the beginning…..I can see when jdawg got hired at Burger King and then walking him thru training. This the grill…. Ok This is the fryer….. Yup This is the cup station…. Ok This is your schedule….. Yup 🤘🏽🍔
I like Hatebreed-- it's the thousands of bands trying to sound like them that suck. It oversaturated the market and pushed old-school HxC out unfortunately.
Jamey has been listening to Death Metal longer than Justin has, this is a fact, and booked DM shows at a time when DM was not in a good place at all to say the least. Love both of you guys, great conversation! Cheers Jamey and Justin.
Solid interview and gathering of minds. Not a Hatebreed fan but I like to see him reaching out to HH, he recognizes their influence and pull in the underground and wants to be apart of the underground movement. Shout out to Justin for the sit down and swapping some solid ideas. Justin, how likely is it to ever see bands like Abominator, Destruktor, Bestial Warlust, Heresiarch book US or HH Records gigs in the near future?
Uncle Jasta dropping some serious knowledge and humility here. Dawg always bringing up his views or stories or himself and Jasta listening and understanding is what we need in the metal community
@@braindeadrichard Agreed. Dismember could launch a full on USA/Europe tour off a festival (Hells 4) performance where they play both albums in a set for the first time.
Right i was thinking the same thing. Dude imagine if J-Dawg went full poser smashing re re mode and just attacked him at the end of the interview 😳 😆 🤣 😂 😹 video would have like millions of views \m/
Can’t wait to see garza and the dawg go over music now haha. Would be cool to see Garza with a wad of cash walking into the warehouse ready to pick up some gems the dawg suggests

I wasn't expecting to see 40 minutes of Jamey Jasta this morning, but hell I'm all for it! Seems like he's actually a cool dude who knows the good shit from the bad, but at the end of the day the Dawg has said it before too, you kinda have to book those shitty bands to make a profit, sucks to suck if you don't like it how it is but you can just ignore them when they're playing lol. Love that he seems to be on board with what the Dawg is saying too, let's just hope he's a man of his word so we can get that fuckin' Glen Benton the channel god dammit!
I tried talking to you several times in Milwaukee. Every time you had people talking to you and getting pics. 60 year old devil here. Tried buying a Voivod T shirt. Only in size Small. Cmon I didn't see a small person there lol
One of the coolest dudes in the “hardcore” scene for sure. Lover all metal music and just wants it to live on forever. I hope this is a start of a good partnership between hells and Jamey
@@braindeadrichard Heads up Rich, I've just been informed by "Chaz4543" that Hatebreed is NOT Hardcore🤷♂, but rather Metalcore. He seemed pretty passionate on the matter, so be on the look-out to be corrected by officer Chaz 30 - year veteran of the "genre police".
I remember seeing hatebreed with cannibal years ago. Jamey kept telling people not to stage dive at the show and even their fans were annoyed by it. Lol
I’ve heard them quite a bit thanks to some of my friends. I’m not a fan. I don’t hate their stuff. I did hear their covers album. They did a great job on Obituary and Slayer. I’ve seen them a lot because they played with a lot of metal bands on tours

What annoyed me was the hardcore kids that showed up because they ironically liked metal and thought it was funny to be into it but were total posers. There were a lot of them in the 90s in Chicago.
@Dinkins Jamie another guy named Boulder did tape trade pretty heavily in the 90s.i sent jasta an infestation demo and he tried to book shows with them.jasta lost a ton of money booking death metal bands back in the 90s but to his credit he kept doing it.
@Dennis Jordan I definitely knew hardcore kids that actually listened to metal, but it definitely was a trend in the hardcore scene to "like" metal in the 90s in Chicago.

I thought Jasta was Garza too…never heard of this guy before and still don’t care for Hatebreed but he seems alright. Great fan interview. JJ must’ve been so nervous meeting his idol
I don't care what anyone thinks. The first two Hatebreed albums are hard as fuck. I dare JDog to listen to Under The Knife or Satisfaction Is The Death Of Desire.

Wow i haven’t started the vid but this is cool he let you drop this first on your channel. Plus the couches haha it gives a morning show/talk show vibe.
Jamey Jasta likes Exodus (They covered Bonded By Blood at a lot of their shows) so he pretty cool in my book. Hatebreed and Exodus are pretty good friends too from what I understood. I didn't care too much for Hatebreed until I learned of their connection with Exodus.
@@Razieleatssouls @ResidentStevil well hey portal is amazing 👏 don't much matter where there from. I'm impressed. Never would have figured JJ to be in the know of the classic deth/black metal scene. I forever have seen him as that lead vocals of the hardcore Vans skater band. (still stunned he looks how he does today). Curious what his fanbase will say about this video 😁, prob lost with 87% of what was talked here.
@@humanbrisket7718 Sure if you want to go that far in the roots. In the Westcoast of early 00's, all the skaters were big fans of Hatebreed, Slipknot, Limpbizkit shit. . just lumped in with all the numetal wave crap. Their logo was appealing to many of the skater community. Their music was lousy to me and I wasn't fond of their fanbase either. That's how I always remembered that band.
Jamey is big in the metal scene. He produced the Corpsegrinder solo record. He books death metal bands constantly to open. He ran Milwaukee Metal fest for years. And Hatebreed is metal as fuck. Step out of your bubble and preconceived notions of hardcore bands, Jamey has done more for metal than you will ever do in your life.
Jasta is right about how the underground scene was a part of Metalfest but that's only bcuz Don Decker (R.I.P.) was booking all the killer bands, aside from the pay to play thing which kinda sucked
This interview was kick ass over all. Cool seeing J Dawg shooting the shit with Jasta. I just didn't like how the vibe was there that even though it's J. Dawg's channel, Jasta made it seem like it was HIS show and J.Dawg was the guest on it. The Dawg didn't get to do his famous "What's up devils!" intro. Idk, anyone else notice that too?. But like i said, awesome interview. I hope they keep in touch with their business ideas and whatnot. I want to see J. Dawg land his Glen Benton interview too. 👹💀
If Jamey can actually get Satanic Warmaster to play Milwaukee Metalfest and withstand the backlash he’d get from antifa assholes and not remove them from the fest, that’d be something.
Also forgot about the bands that would drop off the fest as well if Satanic Warmaster was booked. There’s no way a band like Napalm Death would play the same fest. Politics and views be damned but if Jasta got SW on the bill, it’d almost be career suicide for him. He’d be accused of being a Nazi sympathizer and all sorts of shit. I’m just stating how shit is today in the US,
@@eric791910 Jamey has already been accused of that before years ago with HATEBREED so I don’t think he would care if it came around again. He talked about it on the Hardlore podcast he was on if I’m not mistaken.

Nothing happened it was just alot of excitement in the air when these European bands played their first US shows. Impaled Nazarene had already got the crowd fired up followed by Mayhem
I couldn't care less about Hatebreed and their music but nonetheless this interview was great. It was nice to see Justin represent underground metal in this interview and give the underground greater recognition and give Jasta some ideas for future festivals. I would say so called Gatekeeping and Elitism isn't as much of a problem as Jasta thinks it is. Most times when those words are thrown around it is because posers are angry that people don't like the bands that they listen to and for people simply giving their honest opinions about how they feel about the bands music. If you're so offended about someone disliking a band that you like or type of music you're into than quite frankly you deserved to be offended and you're not meant for this type of music.
That's exactly how I feel about the so-called "gatekeeping" issue. If no one is getting beat up, then it's just hurt feelings over an opinion. I also think people conflate having an opinion with elitism. If you think the bands you like are better than what someone else likes, it's an opinion. If you think you are a superior person because of your opinions, then you're probably an elitist. If you didn't think your opinions were the best opinions to have, then you wouldn't carry those opinions.
@James Paez I like hardcore, but my cutoff is 90s hardcore when it got a bit more metallic. I like some of the metallic stuff, but there was a point where everyone started to sound like bad metal. Almost like metal for people to afraid to be into actual metal.
I always thought gatekeepering was when a person doesn't want someone listening to a band they love for any reason (for example) you listen to pop music therefor you can't like macabre or you don't know their first 3 albums. That shit is stupid. If they generally like a bands music listen to it. People need to stop saying oothr people can't listen to something because they don't want them too or cause of how they look. If anything the elists are the ones getting their panties in a bunch. Why wouldn't you want a band you love to be popular and successful, as long as they keep making good music.
