Lyrics:
All these things
That have come to pass
Emptied well
Of times that never last
Rhythms speak
Sun to winter's call
Pouring forth they
Beckon to enthrall
Burnt clean eyes
Reach into our graves
Into the scars
Of our truth
Of life within
The stars
All these words
Are dust within my mind
In these times
That burn within our sight
Yearning to know
Deep into the marrow
Fall
And see
When there's no ground
To feel
To endure
Rise in the heart
Time will crawl
To the sea
Time will fall
Inside the dream
Weathered stone
Rivers running deep
Flying wings
In skies that never sleep
Earthly blood
Speaking in the stone
Bounding calls
That want us to believe
Cleansing flames
Burn into the night
Into the scars
Of our truth
Of life with
The stars
Restless souls
Flickering light
Painted in gold
Tearing at the seams
Needing to feel
One true moment
Needing to feel
Something true

I found Yob and this specific album at an incredibly hard time in my life. I'd ruined myself with too much work combined with too much alcohol and pretty much ruined all my relationships around me. My brother and I nicknamed eachother Bone and Marrow (only in Norwegian, Bein and Marg). I got it tattooed on my fingers, he got it on the side of his palms. We were sitting in my apartment, me being ruined physically and mentally, he with his problems conserning drugs and depression. He had recently introduced me to Sleep, and while shuffling songs this came on. I laughed first at the title being the very name he'd given me, but we listened in silence as we used to. And I had a revelation, I clearly saw myself from outside of my own body, I saw the damage, the hate, the anger at the world and everyone who failed me and me being a failure and I was tired. I decided to wipe it away, to release all the tension deep within my marrow. And I cried, for the first time in years, I cried for hours, me and my brother. Bone and Marrow. When he died 4 years later, this kept me going. I remembered that day when I finally opened my eyes, and yet again decided to let it all go. My anger towards him for leaving me behind and choosing a road I could never follow, my hate of the people who didn't help him, me being a failure for not seeing his pain. Brother, if you're out there somewhere, I hope you're listening to this as well I love you. I fucking miss you.

I am doing that right now. My favorite nephew killed himself, they found his body in the woods. He called me & told me his friend had just committed suicide, & needed to talk to someone so he didn't do something stupid. I was the 4th person he called, first 3 didn't answer the phone. Zak was handed the black sheep torch, as was I before him. I guess everyone needs someone to look down upon, so quick to point out the splinter in someone else's eye, but don't see the log stuck in their own. I'm losing my shit right now, knowing that since I was the last person to speak to him his death is somehow my fault. It's been 17 days with no drugs or liquor, & I am seriously wanting some 80 proof. " He was only crazy for a minute." was said after my uncle killed himself. I'd love to believe that. Sorry to ramble, this is a beautiful song.

Others include: “Our Raw Heart” - YOB (obvi) All of Heartless by Pallbearer “Misery Hymns” - Churchburn “Love You To Death” - Type O Negative “Mirror Reaper” Bell Witch “Boden” - Amenra (more post-rock, but doomy enough to count) What are yours?

Imagining this playing the night you discover a long abandon Gothic monastery buried deep into a hillside surrounded by a wild, twisted woodland. You seek cover inside, as the rain and wind howls. You are met with the beautiful sight of endless hallways and staircases leading to a massive vaulted library room. You huddle next to a majestic sized fireplace watching the fire crackle and hiss. Strange tree roots have enveloped the pillars and walls. The light exposes a series of Mosaics and wall paintings depicting the sacred burial rites of an ancient and mysterious cult who lived on the site of monastery. Lighting flashes and the thunder cracks in the sky above.

A totemic storm fell upon the valley, tearing trees from the ground and lashing the broken walls of the monastery. It was almost if this old and mysterious building was comforting itself from the maelstrom circling above. The fire died away as sunlight cracked through the cloud - The storm was lifting at last. 10:32 - The damp air clouded the towers and fell it silent in the morning bright sunlight. Behind all the moss and ivy, this ancient derelict was alive and grasping for new life. You could feel it through the endless hallways, and beneath the broken stone, rotten timbers there was something reliving memory through the foundations below. The falling dew drops echoed through the building as they gracefully landed. It was certainly picturesque but yet it was empty, devoid of activity..whatever was here before had long since died. There was a tinge of sadness about leaving this magnificent beauty, as you followed a path out of the rumble. It was truly awe inspiring, yet forgotten....until now.

All of you say this is a masterpiece and that it's beautiful and pure emotion in music...you probably haven't heard this MASTERPIECE peaking on two tabs of acid. THAT is a truly wholesome experience, maaaaaaan.

Yeah, acid makes you think about how much you love everyone in your life, and based on the comments I’ve seen this song is about losing a loved one. Acid would be perfect for this song

sergio rodrigues I don’t need it to appreciate my music. Enjoying music on psychedelics is just a way to experience your music on a different level. I’ve had some of the best times going to concerts under the influence of psychs. Made me appreciate the bands I love even more. Your opinion is ill-informed and naive.

So humbling song, so deeply human, so deeply true, embracing the whole facets of existence, all the joy and tragedy of life, all the hopes and brokenheart, all the crave for love and our burdens, we are all f****ing alive and this masterpiece reminds it to us, long life to YOB !
