I'm having trouble signing up with Thatch. Is there an e-transfer option to purchase guides? I really want to support you and also get your tips for Japan before I arrive there next week.
Thanks so much for this stellar comment! We put so much work into these videos. I know they aren’t going to make it to the “popular” page as they’re just not made for trending, but the fact that this King Kogi community appreciates them is what keeps me happy 😊
for a 1 Woman and 1 Dan production crew, your videos are so high quality and you guys work hard! Your style is great because it's informative and still shows your goofy personality.
Honestly never mind the wait for these videos because when they drop they are always well thought out, beautifully recorded, and wonderfully entertaining. ❤
I will forever be in love with your style of video editing Martina! The music, the atmosphere, the little quizzes, the transitions... There is so much love and I can't imagine how long it takes to make such high quality videos for us. Awesome video!!
💗 happy to make King Kogi tv 📺 especially for this most excellent community! I know y’all will appreciate my odd little ways, so I’m able to put the effort in.
I just want to say THANK YOU Martina for visiting places that are not the typical touristy spots. You frankly fill a void on RU-vid - most Tokyo or Japan video's are the typical spots and I want more of an at-home vibe, and this is it!.
in yokohama, there is a store called surugaya, it is in the sogo building. and it has an insane amount of second hand plushies. every OG pokemon. all the meowths and eevees.. It had all the og pokemon figurines. BUt it also had every storybook character imaginable. hello kitty, miffy, disney etc. i walked my ass off to find this store. i prefer it over new pokemon stuff.
i JUST found this channel and OMG. As a creator dealing with autoimmune health issues my entire life - the amount of bravery, motivation, and just overall VIBES from you are amazing. I can finally travel and going to Japan in two weeks. I hope you are well and ty for such cinematic videos! Seriously these are so well put together!
Welcome to the lovely King Kogi community! Many of us here are dealing with invisible illnesses (and visible) and we all encourage each other to push on while also acknowledging our limits so that we don’t flair ourselves up. Hope your trip to Japan is awesome, and don’t forget to give yourself breaks!
😮💨 phew! Just so glad it worked! Haha I had mapped it all out, and we took photos to make sure I’d end up in the same spot. Hilariously, for the night shot in front of the Gundam, there was a man fishing exactly where I needed to stand to line it up…we had already done the daytime shot. The whole dock area was free, but he just happened to be there 😂 we had to figure out how to get the same *snap* location without disturbing him.
Your videos always feel like a hug, they're so comforting and easy to watch no matter what mood I'm in. I've been watching since 2009 which is insane to think about lol & I love the evolution of your vids. Your current layout is so good💖 forever sparking joy in your viewer's day. Stay blessed xx
I just want to emphasize the production value of this channel. I seriously appreciate the work and care that go into these videos, while still maintaining that sweet charm and character that Martina brings to the table. I’ve been watching EYK for years now and I just want to say it is so satisfying to see that videos like these are still being created with a genuine feeling of joy despite the changes that Martina and EYK have gone through. Martina, I think you’re awesome. I seriously love your channel and everything your doing after everything that’s happened. You’re doing some amazing things. I hope you see just how well you’re reaching old viewers like me as well as new ones. Keep it up girl. ❤
Thanks so much Juliette 😭 it wasn’t an easy path, and I still struggle at times, but I’m determined to keep doing what I love for as long as I can. I appreciate that you enjoy these videos 🙇🏼♀️
I'm so happy to see Martina still kickin' it, and also I'm quite envious of all the delicious Asian cuisine she gets to enjoy every day. 🥺 Thankfully we do have some nice Sushi and Ramen places not too far from us, but it's in the USA (Minnesota) and won't be exactly the same. Also, the Gundam Art and Flower Festival looked fun! EDIT: Had to comment on the Sake vendor! My Dad loves nerding out on alcohol production techniques and food science (and sometimes I do, too), so thanks for including that bit of conversation with the store owner! ❤
This makes me wish we had more international cuisine around here. Definitely added to my list for when I finally get to Japan. Thank you so much for making your tour videos, Martina
I’ve been watching you since freshman year of high school, now I’m 24 with a bachelor’s degree!! Thanks for all of the fun food and cultural videos. They’ve helped me expand my worldview and influenced a lot of my interests!!
So happy to see another King Kogi adventure. I’ve been anticipating for another fantastic video and you didn’t disappoint. Thanks and luv it Martina! Thanks to Dan for showing his meals and drinks with us too 👏
Had trouble concentrating during the pudding part because of the seventeen tracks playing in the background 😂. Great video as always Martina, perfect accompaniment to my dinner 🥰.
My GOD, what a production, photography in the scenes, such extreme perfection in your videos! I can dive in the Yokohama atmosphere thanks to your talent to make a cinematography video. ❤
Okay, you didn't screw up the egg yolk thing. it was already broken when you lifted it up. you can see it @ 2:09 that the yolk is already busted when you lift the chiken.
Martina さん❤I will definitely visit these delicious spots in Yokohama on my next Japan trip!! Thank you for sharing the experience of Japan to your viewers!! ありがとうございます❤♪まちーなさん、マチーナさん好き❤好き❤
Both Yakuza Like A Dragon and Lost Judgement (major videogames) are set in a very lifelike Yokohama. I loved it and am making a day trip of it this autumn. Cool video!
I'm sorry this is so random and unrelated to everything going on; you're just so beautiful! The light shining from within you, especially when you are in your element like this is so wonderful to see! Gorgeous Gorgeous Gorgina Martina ✨
@kingkogi Martina, I built a ladder today, and several others this month. I won’t get into the details here, but I must say you have truly been an inspiration to me. Eat Your Kimchi has supported me through college exams, difficulties in my career and relationship drama. I want to encourage you to keep going, keep thriving, and keep building your ladder 🪜 💕🤗 I hope to visit one day soon 🇯🇵
I love the thoughtfulness you put into your guides. Putting trivia around your commercial breaks-or really just working the video around commercials at all-is super smooth. Almost no RU-vidrs do this and it's so jarring when commercials randomly appear out of nowhere, usually mid-sentence. Love your day and night shots of the same locations, and the work and time that must go into that. I appreciate your mention of disability access, which I wouldn't mind content creators being a little better about. And yeah, I admire how you power through what must be a lot of work, all that walking, those stairs, you mentioned dislocating your shoulder holding the giant beer...but you make it all look so pleasant, and the final result is really a great sell for Yokohama! =D
I'm so surprised that u love sesame steamed bun. Since it doesn't look appealing inside out, most of ppl didn't want to have it. However, black sesame is full of nutrients, what a good dessert
Thank you for doing these, Martina! You always look like you're enjoying yourself over there, and you've helped me add some places to my Japan itinerary. 🙌
My dad’s side of the family lives in Yokohama. We visited back in 2011. I’m glad the China Town there looks as awesome as ever. It puts every other China town I’ve ever visited to shame. Some of the best Chinese food I’ve eaten. Definitely don’t skip on Yokohama.
Martina, Martina, MARTINA!!! I bow down to you, you pink traveling goddess!! But seriously tho, enjoyed the entire video! Japan is in my bucket list to visit..idk when but i will always appreciate having these videos when I do! Thank You!
I love raw egg as well, I eat it here in Atlanta, Georgia, and I have never had any issue with it, never got sick or anything. I love it with hot, sticky rice, I just drop the whole egg in, mix it up with the rice and eat it with natto and a side of kimchi 😊
Martina, please never never change! No matter how sad or anxious I feel, your videos always give me comfort. I always feel right at home watching you explore Japan. Your video style and editing is just so relaxing.
That’s so great to hear! Thanks for this comment 🙇🏼♀️ I used to live in Yokohama, so I wanted to share both the spots that tourists always visit, with a splash of stuff us locals might do!
Over here in Europe no one even thinks about if raw eggs are safe or not. Ramen, beef tatar, our hash, chocolate mouse..cookie dough..we just go ahead and monch. Kinda makes me sad that the fear is a thing across the Atlantic.
I've just discovered your channel and I am OBSESSED 💕 You are 100% my vibe and I love how you do Japan. Any chance you like craft? Feel free to review craft stores 😂 ❤🎉
I do love to craft haha I’m more of a craft jumper, you know the kind, did knitting for a year, then suddenly into watercolour, then suddenly into jewelry making, then clay… if you dig back into my videos, check out one of my first King Kogi Quests “Picnic in Yokohama” and I briefly pop into a fav craft spot to pick up supplies to paint 🎨 it’s just a wee moment. Oh! And I also do a stationary product review! Welcome to the King Kogi community, hope to see you in the comment section again 💗
@KingKogi I absolutely get that! That was me before I really hit my stride with knitting. I spent a lot of time, and money, in yarn stores in Japan earlier this year. We decided exploring Japan for us meant finding and experiencing all the craft classes we could possibly find. I love people who find their own nerdy way to do Japan. There is a super cool yuzen dying class I did in Kyoto that I can't recommend enough! 💕
I LOVE yokohama! 😅 Kinda wish I had a little more courage with my broken Japanese to fully experience the city. Hopefully I can go back with my friend and visit these places.
Don’t be too discouraged with your level of Japanese! When I arrived in Japan, I didn’t speak ANY Japanese, couldn’t read anything. I went for a “point” and order method, and just enjoyed whatever came out. And never underestimate the power of using the phrase “what do you recommend” to the server! “O-su-sumae-wa” gets you the daily specials and their best sellers.
Can you do a RU-vid video about onsen in Japan? My friends and I are visiting Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto, and Osaka. We want to try onsen but are very confused about where to start T^T Thank you for your videos! They are so enjoyable and helpful
Hey martina been a fan since your EYK channel. Quick question tho. How are the streets there in yokohama? Are they car commuting friendly? Planning to visit yokohama and we are from the boonies so im not sure if i can handle the driving out there
I’ll preface this by saying while I haven’t been behind the wheel in Yokohama, I have been in many cars being driven by friends in both Tokyo and Yokohama. Yokohama is right beside the highway, so easy access, and waaaaaaay less hectic and crammed than driving in Tokyo. Even as a biker 🚴♀️ , Yokohama was a lot easier. Just less crowded, and wider streets. Have fun!
Welcome back! Have so much fun, and I hope you visit some of the spots and get your explore on. Also, I have a free Yokohama digital guide (it works like a google map guide, but with comments and links I've left) , so if you check the infobox you can use that during your trip!
Just wanted to say that I loved this video! I'll be visiting Japan with a few friends in a couple of months. We've seen a lot of the other parts of Tokyo but not so much of Yokohama. We're hoping to fix that and your videos have provided some great inspiration! And was that a King Kogi tie dye shirt? I'll have to check out your merch!
Yokohama is it’s own special little place, and really easy to get to from Tokyo. If you’re planning on traveling to Osaka or Kyoto, Shin-Yokohama station is a closer and less insane Shinkansen station too! Glad this video helped out with planning, check the infobox for the link to my free digital map to Yokohama too, and yes, that is a King Kogi tie dye shirt 👕 embroidered and boxy street wear style!
Martina knows how to bring out the majesty in just about anything she does. My bad day just brightened considerably ❤ Martina, you truly are a treasure.
I know you already do a ton of research for your videos, but this one must have taken even more planning than usual! I love how you transitioned from the night and day shots - especially at china town! How long did you have to wait for the gate lights to come on to get that transition shot?
Baisu Sour Squad from Yokohama! 💪 I've been looking forward to this one & you knocked it out of the park. It put the biggest smile on my face seeing stuff around Motomachi, Chinatown, and Yamashita Park again. Now I know at least one spot to eat at in Chinatown, since it's a bit overwhelming to figure out what's good there.
