Hmmn, i actually think Mevo still edged out YBP in terms of flexibility and also in cost as well. Remember the Mevo multicam encoding device can still be used for other things in your workflow apart just streaming. YBP is just dedicated and can only be used for streaming. I have a Flow 8 digital mixer, the software is installed on my ipad, i didn't have to buy a new device for it. With YBP or YB standard, I would have had to buy a separate device to control my digital mixer had i not own one already. Again with regards to flexibility, the Mevo cams can still be used with other and any streaming software that supports NDI like TopDirector. So in my view and experience of both, I think both devices are awesome in there own right. YBP has some cool and better pro features not available in Mevo, while Mevo overall is lot more flexible and less expensive when you view it from the point that the encoding device can be used for other things in the workflow and the Mevo cam itself can be used just as a camera only with other streaming software. Please don't take my comment to mean YBP is not good, No, No, Yolobox is an awesome device and product.

Great point! YBP does its one thing. An iPad with Mevo cameras has flexibility.

A trade off I’m understanding (but maybe I’m mistaken) is the inability to connect the YBP to a mesh WiFi network to bring in remote cameras while also using the built in LTE for the outbound uploading stream.

This is perfect for me i literally have both these devices. I have been wondering how to incorporate both somehow in my streams. I use my mevo's for my sports streaming and perhaps thinking of using my yolobox pro for my studio recorder,switcher. I have used the YBP when i first started my streams for baseball and softball. it worked really well but i enjoy the compact nature of the mevo's.

What do you think of a stream using Mevo and action cam with YBP? Or would you use a camera with optical zoom? I’m looking forward to the possibilities!

@@JasonHoffmanYT i primarily used sony camcorders in my set up with a USB or via Hollyland Mars 400's. But that sounds like something I'm gonna try and figure out with my mevo's.

They are both great solutions. The disadvantage to the having a self-contained unit like the YoloBox Pro or others like it. If it fails/breaks at the moment of truth you are down with no recovery. With the mevo all you need to do is switch to another tablet/phone. Regarding cost, most people/churches already have a tablet/phone. Today they are dirt cheap too.. Great channel Jason. Great video Jason, thx again! So after your first look, how do you envision a mobile sports stream working? Love the option to get some cameras with better optics. All cameras have to be plugged in so that’s a bit tougher? Looking forward to seeing your follow on videos

I’ve mounted all my mevos in the same spot before for baseball streaming and it worked pretty well. Using the YBP would be similar I guess so they’ll be wired. I think my next channel video needs to be a live stream just for testing then find a summer game to set up at.

I do see where this could be a turn off but I do like having all my cameras setup right near me. Haven’t gotten comfortable yet setting them up away from me. Have recorded a few games, 1st was with one Mevo only and worked okay, but when I added two mevos the Mevo wifi didn’t work so well, and I had to get the Jackery with a router to make a wifi hotspot to run all three cameras. When using the router I couldn’t figure out how to stream without having to buy a hotspot device to use so ended up just recording and editing the game later that night. Still learning all this.

Mokose cameras are cheap and work great as a stationary angle to work with yolobox or atem

I know this video is a year old but just correcting something you said but since you're new to the yolo it's understandable. You actually can zoom in on the ybp via software. You can crop your video inputs and save them as separate inputs. There is obviously a degradation of quality when you crop

Can you use the Mevo cameras in access point mode wired directly into the YBP? That way you can use the wireless features of the Mevo start cameras along with the optical zoom with the other cameras plugged in to the YBP via HDMI

It has to be in webcam mode for the usb c port to send signal to the YBP. I’ll test it to see but my first thought is no.

Oh yeah? Well what about the Roland Areocaster? Is Yolo similar to the Aerocaster and can I use Aerocaster with Mevo just like you can use Yolo with Mevo?

One of the huge things you didn't touch on is the rtmp connection on Mevo does not allow for streaming to servers that require authentication like dacast and more. I watched your video... got all excited because I'm trying to figure out a light weight remote setup to stream to the streaming platform I created, bought a Mevo and ran into this huge wall. Now I have another paperweight for my collection. Mevo bites!

I’ve started looking but haven’t settled on one yet. The cost of the YBP plus HDMI adapters starts making the investment pretty steep.

I think of Mevo as a streaming for dummies blessing. I have 3 Starts and a Plus. Why spend money on more bells like YoLo when Mevo can do great job all alone? What am I missing 😳

Oh Mevo is in a class by itself for live streaming. But sometimes we need the ability to get a clear pic from farther away. Football is hard to stream with just Mevo. Add one optical zoom camera and the experience changes for the better.

You would just be pressing record on each camera to get the multiple angles, but it would work the same.

I should have clarified which one of the comparison you are asking about. No desktop will run the Mevo software. You can use what Mevo sends in Zoom, Meets, etc but the computer isn't actually controlling it, only receiving a feed recognized as a webcam.
