Thank you Tom! It's really been hectic here for the past few weeks but last week was of excitement and anticipation, when we know you are uploading another YoloBox video! Thank you for the kind words, really empowering and means a lot to the team!! (Looping option for auto-switching is in the making and should be coming out in two weeks. USB webcam out, should have audio already and will have overlays soon enough in our next update as well! The fan are normally triggered by the processing power consumption, for example when you are starting using the Monitor Mode with one HDMI, it should stay silent. But when multiple HDMIs are plugged in and you are using it for a long while, the fan will be triggered)
I'm so happy your review of the Yolobox came across my RU-vid recommended videos! I am a multimedia specialist at a high school, and this opens up so many possibilities for my student-run live streaming club. What you were saying at the 12:18 mark was so relatable! I am definitely going to look into purchasing one. This seems so much more practical and portable than our current setup. Thank you!
If I was still teaching, I would definitely have at least one of these! It doesn't have all the versatility of a full-on computer setup, but it can get darn close. And the portability/simplicity is outstanding (especially when paired with some wireless video kits).
Thank you for the update. I've been looking at the yolobox pro for awhile. The lack of screen rotation was annoying. Now you can but an osmo pocket directly on top of it. Then use your phone to control the osmo whenever. With one of those yolobox cages, you can support a battery and a nighthawk m1 to combine two lte connections + wifi, to stream via rtmp. It's going to be my all-in-one goto for irl streaming 1080p60hz @ 50mb/s
It's happened. Tom's videos are 'streams of (bad) jokes' interspersed with really cool tech talk and stories about his school teacher days that he tells his therapist. Ahhh, at last stuff I can relate to! Thanks, Tom!
..It is, a fantastc product! I believe, that some products need a time of consolidization, and then they boom in sales..this is one of them! It is amazing what it is possible nowadays to do, with right equipment , without having to spend the money of a pro tv studio.
@@tombuck ..i don't know if Heather collects suggestions for video reactions, and, since she is still in doubt of what topics she could react to, movies, fun stuff or music have lot of demand..(she has the gear and look of a reactor)..if she is picking suggestions..let us know..rammstein i vote!
Thanks, Tom. I was JUST about to get one for Zoom events “in the field” for clients. BUT…since it can not send the overlays and audio through USB, that’s a showstopper for that use. Darn. I do hope that is an update soon.
@@tombuck … thanks. We’ll most likely put one of our ATEMs to use with H2R graphics on the MacBook. I’ll keep watching your channel for YoloBox updates.
I may get one so I can use the Scoreboard to count your PUNS! Oh, wait it's $1300 that's a little much to keep track of your puns! I'm laughing at you talking about setup and tear down... go do a concert tour! The time it took to set up Phil Collin's drum kit with the 50-ish mics and all those cables and then getting it all somewhat in the ballpark ready for a soundcheck and concert took a crew of 5 - 16 hours. But yes I totally agree for an A/V class to have one for Football/Basketball/Volleyball/etc would be great. I may buy one to donate to my favorite Private School!
I don't know if the scoreboard can go that high? 😉 I can't even imagine a full arena concert setup. Sometimes that stuff can be super fun but when you're already exhausted and doing it for no extra pay...it's less fun haha
would be great to get a on screen (local) warning that source switch is occurring in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. This would enhance speaking to camera and the production "Feel"
Tom, companies should pay you as a "Mega Beta-tester" prior to the releases, you'd give them at least 10 suggestions for improvements right of the bat haha... A very neat product here indeed.
It would be interesting, If I am going to play with the YoloBox. Like... Switching the camera view, A webcam or Steam it onto streaming platforms. But if I have one for mine, This is going to be fun! Like what somebody did it. =)
I have a whole video on lighting, but my key light is the Nanlite Forza 200 running through a small softbox. I've got a small Dracast LED fill light of fto the side and a FalconEyes panel mounted to the ceiling as a backlight 👍
Thanks for this video, Tom! I have been looking at the Blackmagic ATEM Minis for my desk. I was also going to look for a small multiview display. Then the Yolobox Pro popped up, and I thought -- maybe Tom made a video about the Yolobox...sure enough, you did! :) My question is: for a desk setup where I share content via Zoom / MS Teams / Google Meet, and also make instructional videos -- with my computer, sometimes an additional computer, an iPad screen, and a camera as video sources -- would you recommend one of the ATEM's or the Yolobox Pro? I use the RODECaster Pro II for audio (thanks for that video also - yes, you're responsible for most of my desk AV footprint). My camera currently is an Elgato FaceCam. It would be amazing if that could work with the Yolobox, but I recognize I may need to get a camera with HDMI out. Currently, if I want to share content from more than one computer / iPad, I join the meeting from that device and share the screen from that device. It works, but it's a little clunky. Similarly, for creating an instructional video, I'll jump on a Zoom session from each of the devices, share the screen from each as appropriate, and record in Zoom on my primary computer. Thanks!
Hi Yash! The YoloBox is absolutely awesome and it only gets better with each update, so it can definitely get the job done. That being said, when I'm in my office/studio, I stick with the ATEM/Ecamm/Rodecaster setup just because it does add a ton of flexibility and for me physical buttons can't be overrated. With the ATEM I can easily see/feel the buttons and switch angles/make changes sometimes without even looking away from the camera. 🤯 I just did a video with Aaron Parecki on his channel where we talk about what the YB would need to become our "main" streaming device. It might give some additional insight (especially because Aaron is a genuine genius): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CsE05v5VEGM.html
Don’t wanna be s broken record but once again an awesome video mr. Buck. And I have no need for this device until our podcast goes videomode. If I can ask for advice about audio. I’m recording with a rodecaster pro And my mic is mv7 And I use a inline booster. Big bottom, And master compression with a light touch. Still my audio Sounds like too compressed And kinda ”metallic”. Any ideas why is that?
@Tom Buck I am ready to pull the trigger and was about to buy the Yolobox Pro but then I discovered the YoloLiv Instream. Which is better?!? We mainly stream our podcasts live but will be using this to stream them while onsite at events/conferences. Your thoughts would be most appreciated!
Instream is mainly geared towards vertical video. If you do a lot of work on IG or TikTok it's a great way to go. If you do regular horizontal widescreen video, then the Pro is the best choice 👍
@@tombuck have you seen anyone use them both? Currently, our audience is on FB live but we want to grow our TikTok following...maybe this could help with that.?
Hi Tom, thanks a lot for your great video. Is it possible to use the Line out of Tascam Mixcast 4 and connect it to the Mic in of the YoloBox? I make interviews, have 3 cams und I need for live discuaaions 2-3 Mics. My problem is, how to connect them to the YoloBox. Thanks for your help.
I think it would be cool to have a foot pedal thats Bluetooth to the device so that you could have it switch through cameras by just doing a foot pedal technique? what your thoughts about that?
Do you know much about the Mini? Other than the inputs and switching, I'm wondering what would I be losing out on by going with the Mini? Also, any thoughts on the Yolobox vs Teradek Wave or Atomos Connect? BTW, very impressed by the number of colored HDMI cables you have.
Hi Tom I have the Rodecaster pro and now own the Yolobox (because of watching you yeah you keep costing me money🤣) but I am pulling my hair out with bringing live guests in and using the rodecaster as my audio input it seems to be impossible to get the guest sound and my sound when using the Rodecaster as the audio doesn't seem to be sent back from the Yolobox into the Rodecaster do you have any idea how to do it? Also on RU-vid livestreams I can pop up the chat on screen until someone sends a super chat or a super sticker where all you see is an empty chat box it is an absolute nightmare as there is no point in a viewer posting a super chat if the message doesn't show up on screen. So far yolobox haven't replied to my posts on forums or emails it is all very frustrating. have you noticed this problem?
Thanks for the review, do you think I could now use this with my old MacBook Air from 2015 ? I am paying for ecamm pro to use with my Mac mini m1 but if I’m traveling then I’m stuck, this sound like I can save money and also maybe cancel ecamm as I only use it for zoom for my meetings and no livestream
@@tombuck You could do the same using the HDMI out on the Yolopro, which would then feed into your computer or Atem as a source, but you would still get overlays and audio. I think…
Hi tom! i recentrly bought a Yolobox and tired to use with my rodecaster pro 2. But it doesn't work. I send the output with a dual mono p10 cable to a stereo p2. Can you help me?
You're too kind, thank you Felicia! The updates definitely add a lot to it. I also got an email from them yesterday after I published the video and they let me know there are some REALLY cool new features coming soon.
The YoloBox currently has 3 system languages. I'm not sure exactly what the other two non-English ones are, but I think one is Mandarin? I'm honestly not sure what the other one is because it's written in a language I can't read 😁
@@tombuck Thank you so much for your answer! I just found videos which demonstrate RU-vid chat with a Korean font. It may not be a system languages but it looks working somehow. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j8KGVdEEil4.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dVWmxnyYbrw.html
I guess kind of? Except that’s really where the cool part is- no longer do you need a big old device and then separate thing hooked up to use it- it’s all in one super compact and nicely built unit.
@@tombuck Do know of anyone using it outside yet? Overheating is a hug problem for me using the Sling. I am looking for an alternative to the Sling and am considering this for the reasons you mention here, but want to make sure it can hold up overtime.
The new Mini is pretty affordable, but the Pro is the same as the ATEM Extremes. Of course if is an all in one thing, so the price starts to make sense when everything is taken into account
Depends on the model you choose and your situation. If you choose the Pro and you do a casual single camera live stream every few months, it’s probably not worth it. If you have a workflow like a lot of schools, churches, or video production teams do, it could literally save you tens of thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of time.
hello Tom ,as u know Yololive lauched the new instream so you can stream to instagram and tiktok ,my question ? how i can use Ecamm live production to go through instream so i can go live from instream but using the power of Ecamm
