If you are looking for a fast 50mm f1.8 Sony E mount lens then this might be the lens for you. It works fine on my Sony A5000, BUT it has a weird focusing issue that I demonstrate and explain in this video.

I wonder if AF hunting issues are to do with the a5000. The Af system is a bit old now, I guess you gotta be patient. I like the a5000, that was my first mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera back in the day.

I have an AF issue with this lens on my A6000. Using it for video, the focus is fine then all of a sudden it blows focus entirely and takes a long time (around 10 seconds) to return to proper focus. Even with a subject standing still this is happening. I am returning my lens because of this. The seller told me that for newer alpha cameras this issue doesn't happen. Even with firmware v09. This is a pity though, as the image quality is fantastic for this lens at such price. If you use for photos it works perfectly and focus is as fast as the kit lens.

I finally did a firmware update about a month ago and it's working much better but not perfect.

I'm using firmware version v11 with my nex 6 and it behaves just like yours. Sometimes it takes 3 seconds to focus. Maybe yongnuo doesn't care about old Sony emount cameras.

@@Ordakkkk They don't. Seller told me old cameras are not supported. I ended up returning it and then bought a Sigma lens for twice the price, but it has perfect autofocus and optical quality. For people with newer camera bodies though I think the Yongnuo is a solid choice.

@@tiagofatturi Yeah, I sent yongnuo and email and they also told me the old nex cameras are not supported, but in theory, all sony cameras from 2013 and beyond are. So it should be good in nex 6 that was released in 2013 and also has (an older version of) fast hybrid af. But no, i will return this lens and get a sigma as well, at least they list nex 6 as a supported lens. I hope I can get fast AF with my old friend nex 6.
