Bickering and savage to one another is a love language of YoonMin. 🤣

"hyung" is an honorific used by younger boys/men to call someone close to them who is older by year. The formal common honorific used is "-ssi (pronounced as "shi")" or for someone way older, "ahjussi" for men and "ahjumma" for women. Jhope is older than RM by 7 months but they were born in the same year (1994) so RM doesn't call him "hyung". Jin is only older than Suga by 3 months but he was born in 1992 while Suga was born in 1993 so Suga has to call him "Jin hyung".

In the clip at 6:09 where suga is saying that jimin's face can be covered with the bowl, he's complimenting him because (this is what i learned from other comments) having a small face is seen as a desirable feature in Korea!

My favorite dynamic in bts lol. They remind me of my family...we love each other, but we pick on and tease each other all the time.

These 2 are fun. The thing is when yoongi was out for his surgery it was jimin who missed him enough to carry his picture to events and call him on speaker phone for the award show, he even went to therapy with yoongi after surgery. But jimin is the only one sasses him like he does, it's really cute.

I genuinely think these two radiate some highkey sibling energy, I feel like Yoongi seems to see a lot of potential in Jimin (or maybe sees a lot of himself in Jimin), he likes to urge Jimin to try new things and take action. Its very big brother-esque: the looking out for him, picking on him, their banter is just so dynamic, partly because I think both of them give as good as they get.

I absolutely adore their dynamics! 😄

Something about Korean culture as you start getting into the members and seeing how they interact and stuff: Korea is a very age-based society. Like age matters a lot in how you interact with others. The members will call members older than themselves “Hyung”. Hyung literally means “older brother” and it’s a word used by men to call men older than themselves whom they are close with. There are other words like this as well to give you a wider idea: “Unnie”: used by women to call women older than themselves whom they are close with. “Oppa”: used by women to call men older than themselves whom they are close with. “Noona”: used by men to call women older than themselves whom they are close with. These words are also used to refer to your actual blood older siblings. But always used in daily life with people you are close with/friends. For example, jungkook (youngest) calls all his members by “Hyung”. You’ll hear him say “Namjoon hyung!” Or “Suga hyung” or just “hyung”. But Jin (oldest member) just calls the rest by their names. Someone like RM who is in the middle in terms of age, calls some of them “hyung” and some by only their names. Also, in Korean, there is formal speech/grammar and informal/casual speech (called “banmal”). Since respecting elders is a big deal, the younger people will use formal speech with those older than them. This goes for BTS members too obviously. So for example, Jungkook will not generally speak in casual speech/grammer to those older than him. The Korean language is all very nuanced and delicate in how you talk with others based on your relationship with them. How you speak to your boss vs your older friend vs your younger friend, etc is all different.

The way you are going to LOVE SugaMon/NamGi( Suga-Namjoon) since Yoongi is your bias....you NEED to check it out. Like they all love n adore each other n every duo is special in its own way, but these two share the most UNIQUE bond. The mutual respect for each other is off the charts. They have known each other the longest amongst all members n share a similar history where both received heavy backlash for leaving the hip hop scene. They have been through all the ups n downs. Suga NEVER forgets to mention how much he appreciates Namjoon as the leader n acknowledges how tough it is for him n Namjoon greatly admires Suga too. They might seem to be the most distant or awkward (hence pretty underrated duo) but share an immensely strong bond of trust, friendship n admiration.

jimin is so petty, every member likes to tease him

i just want to say that they're one of my favorite duos in the group. they're so effortlessly funny, they remind me of kageyama and hinata from haikyuuuuu. they have this love hate relationship and its so endearing to watch them bicker lol. i also really love your reactions and i feel like you're really interested in them!

Yoongi says Jimin needs to be quieter. Jimin says Yoongi is like their dad. I expect you could hear Yoongi calling Jimin, Jimin-ah because he is younger just as Jimin calls Yoongi, hyung, as he’s an older brother/close friend. If he’s referring to Jimin he’ll call him, ‘Jiminie’. JK seems uncomfortable calling Jimin, hyung so he calls him Jimin-ssi much to the amusement of the others. Occasionally you’ll hear the hyungs scolding the maknaes for not using the correct honorifics.

Hyung means older brother. As a hyung one is excepted in Korean culture to always protect and look after the younger. The younger are expected to look up and give respect to their hyung. This kind of relationship can suck if you have a hyung who demands seniority. This is what is amazing. Jin (the oldest) and Suga (2nd oldest) especially do not force their age seniority instead they respect the your brothers and let them be themselves. This is a huge deal in Korean culture. Since BTS members started so young away from their families often not seeing them for years due to training, for example JK started at age 14-15, the older members took care of the younger members more like their own kids than hyung. This is one of the reasons they are so close and affectionate. In Korea culture it is not uncommon for groups of friends (male or female) to show affection. For example, females friend would hold hands walking down the street. This has nothing to do with sex more of a caring relationship. When you see BTS members hug each other it is because they truly are hyung, brothers. Suga is a classic intervert, often having moods swings, avoiding social contact and often locking himself in a room to do work. He has been open about his issues with Army wanting to help others. He does not know how to social interact like most people. He wants to be able to show affection but finds the contact very difficult. He once said in a documentary that he never goes out because he had no friends. The other members, especially V give him extra love because if it. At the beginning of their relationship, V was often hurt that Suga pushed him away. So, the text Suga sent V was extra special because he ending it with I love you. Suga, raps savagely and looks cold at times, but actually has one of the biggest hearts. At the being of his career, he spent money he did not have to make fans gifts with hand written notes to pass out at meet and greets. He took a trainee who got hurt to the hospital and paid for it when he had very little money. He donates secretly to varies charities on his own birthday every year which inspired the rest of the members to do the same. He also shows the members his heart by cooking for them, making sure they are taken care of quietly. For example in the Soop series,, Suga looks a a proud dad as he watches JK write music for his solo songs. Suga cares more about BTS being happy, even at his own expense. Suga is really amazing. What is amazing about BTS members is that they all care about each more than themselves. They help each grow and teach each strengths they are lacking. They purely love seeing each other do well. Usually in a group there are members who get jealous or out for themselves. This is not true with BTS!

Yoongi likes to spar with Jimin and tease him, but he also seems to have a soft spot for him. He mentors him and compliments him, and often chooses him to be his partner for activities. He genuinely seems to like being with him. It's an interesting dynamic.

In Korea, the elder brother is called Hyung with respect. She calls her older sister Eonnie with respect, and He calls his older sister Noona with respect.
