Holy cow. I'm a purple belt in BJJ and have never seen some of these transitions and subtle differences/variations in attacks. Sensei Nakamura is truly impressive. I hope one day I have to opportunity to learn in person. Amazing demonstration.
Wonderful representation of catch wrestling and chain drills. This exhibition is a valuable artifact of our sport, anyone interested in grappling submissions should learn from watching this upload.
Some of the best MMA and Vale Tudo fighters had their base in shoot wrestling and catch wrestling, I love this stuff. Hard hitting striking and bone crunching wrestling holds.
If you like these awesome videos of Instructor Yori, please consider donating a small amount to his GoFundMe Medical Fund page: www.gofundme.com/yorinakamura Instructor Yori had serious training-related injuries not long ago. To help with his recovery and its associated medical finances, *any* amount (small or large), is greatly appreciated. He's helped huge numbers of people learn martial arts - often traveling to them at their locations around the country and various other countries too. Now, he could use a little help himself at his medical fund: www.gofundme.com/yorinakamura
I trained in Seattle for a good portion of my 20s I trained at numerous gyms but notably Dennis hallmans , Matt Humes , and Ivan salaverry . Their submission flow comes from this !!!! I now live in another state and we only have bjj gyms so it’s cool to trace this lineage and still learn it on my own .
6:45! oooooh for the key lock he kicks the guys head first. i've been watching this since probably 2008 and i'm still learning from this. He makes it look so beautiful
I've watched this a dozen times over the years and still it's info overload. Everytime I wish to retain it for a night on the mats, I forget it all. Lol.
@SUELILEAO his lineage explains his quality (trained by Sato Sayama [aka "tigermask"] who was trained by Karl Gotch... who was trained by Billy Riley and the Snakepit coaches in Wigan)... you don't get much more direct than that... he's damned good
I learned so much in that 7min time-frame! Thanks for the upload Josh! So many moves I've never even thought about doing or even seen applied! This series will definitely help my ground-game out. I feel bad for the Shiroi Gaijin Mokujin though lol (^.^')
@SUELILEAO hes part of the shooto think of it as mma before vale tudo format took over(ie turing UFC into MMA and bjj ) this has its basis in catch as can catch wrestling
actors can' t make more movies if they're dead or maimed....in the streets u gotta do whatever u can to survive...the pretty stuff is for promoting and selling movies
