Yes, I'd say that was the flood of the immediate post-Christmas period, 1978. I lived in Sycamore Terrace and it came into the kitchen, stayed 24 hours, then drained away. It had rained for most of a 96-hour period, then turned to snow late on... Boxing Day, I seem to remember. Seemed more exciting than threatening at the time, but we were young....
The Kings Arms, I remember seeing them serving occupants of a rowing boat out of the window, for the cameras of course! Nowadays they won't let you do that.
