As usual, for some perspective...those prices in 'today's money'. The stay at the flying centre at £66 - £76 per week would be £336 - £387 per week. The actual flying would be equivalent to £255 - £305. That weekend stay at the Royal Station Hotel at £28 would be the equivalent to £143 today and that included the rail fare from London to York!! Jolly good value. (Bank of England inflation calculator) How wonderful to see these old programmes. Notice the lack of street furniture on the roads...no ugly signs and yellow parking lines everywhere like today. Better times..??
I last went there in November 2019 and the main change is the demographics, otherwise the place itself is the same as ever. Castle Howard is still magnificent.
@@nysun6293 No need to be self righteous and sanctimonious. He was just expressing an opinion. Or would you rather England be more like the United States's culturally enriched cosmopolitan enclaves?
@@nysun6293 You talk about racism as though it were a bad thing. Every single person on the planet is a racist by birth. Nature made us prefer our own kin and kind, to keep us safe. Animals do the same thing, again to stay safe from other different animals.
You are not wrong, it's filthy, the roads and infrastructure are a disgrace and the locals have to take a back seat...student and tourist City now. Shame, I've seen it go downhill over the past 40 years. I'm thinking of getting out, can't stand going into town now, total dump.
