I had one of these when I inherited it when purchasing my house. Not sure if micro channel or not, but you're absolutely right, it's a POS. It also caused a huge amount of expenses in my electricity bills. Since I changed it, my electrical bill has been reduced to at least $100.00 per month.
I had a variable speed compressor installed last year. Wow, that thing is nice. Mine sounds like a kitten purring, while my neighbors can be heard down the street, trying to compress R-22 into gold I guess...

I actually own a 2011 3.5 Coleman LX, still kickin ass with it’s factory microchannel coils after 12 years, microchannel will last (well most of the time) as long it’s well maintained Also at 3:16 that is actually from 2010
My 2003 York tube and fin R22 system is still kicking along just fine. I found and repaired an evaporator leak where one of the end u-tubes had been rubbing on the plastic condensate tray in the very back of the air handler. No more leaks, fingers crossed! Man, that rifled tubing is paper-thin...
@@thisisyourcaptainspeaking2259 well microchannel doesn’t make it to 3 years 90% of the time, they leak super easily but spine fin coils really last long
R410A system is not suitable for using micro channel coil, pressure is too high. In 2009, I have some project using Carrier 30XA chiller with micro channel coil, but all of them were replace with cu/au coil due to easy to leak refrigerant.
