I love all your content, but I specifically enjoy it when you, Sharon, and or Lee go on a walkabout. Sitting here in Australia, seeing the history of England is lovely, and your commentary always adds a bit of a giggle. Love your work. Keep it up!
I lived in Gladstone park,Tullamarine, Melbourne, Australia back in 1971 my parents and us 6 children Emigrated there but dad ended up wanting to come back here to England UK I was heartbroken it was a beautiful home we had and a beautiful place also, now I'm in my 60"s and only wish we could of continued living there.we have relatives in Adelaide and other parts of Australia.a beautiful place it is too.😊
I enjoyed this trip. I have often seen pictures of the Shambles but never been on a walk down through it. So much history every corner you turn. I liked the market. Loved those army jeeps!!!😍
Catching up on some of your past videos they are a treat. Thanks for taking us along you are very knowledgeable very entertaining. Love Sharons enthusiasm.
Thank you for taking us on a lovely day out. As you know by now my favourite BE content is shopping or days out, so I thoroughly enjoyed this! York looks a very nice place to be and as always you both made the visit interesting and fun. That old pub (three tuns) if the walls there could talk! Looking forward to part two!
Ooo I loved this vlog. York is one of my favourite places to visit but the old legs don't work so well these day's, so it was so nice of you two lovely people to do the walking for me.
Hi Sharon and Martin it’s lovely seeing where you are walking, it’s bringing back wonderful memories of our visits to York. Loved the Harry Potter shops and the Xmas shop, but our favourite was the evening ghost tours x
Thank you 🙏 for once again allowing us to join you on your travels Martin & Sharon. York certainly is a beautiful place with a fascinating history. Look forward to Part 2. 💕💞💗
Lovely York, we walked right round the wall, and went on a boat trip, it's really interesting and he buildings are wonderful, luv all those narrow streets, enjoyed that lovely to see it again. 😀 ❤
What a fantastic vlog,Sharon and Martian, you done us proud taking us around beautiful York, just love watching you loveable people, have a well earned nice sleep and looking forward to tomorrow with you, from Marion in Durham City 🌆
Wow thanks Sharron & Martin i really really enjoyed that , relaxing on a Sunday evening being chauffeured around york ,you certainly clocked up some steps probably around 20, 000, have a peaceful night see you soon Elaine Bridlington yes.. xx
Hi Sharon and Martin, I have never been to the Shambles, what a lovely place and so many original buildings. Can I also give you both a pat on the back for getting breakfast on both trains! 🤣🤣 Thanks for taking us with you, on your tour. I really enjoyed it.
What a fantastic place, beautiful, must have some of the best kept old buildings in England, i'd love to visit York, great video guys, top drawer, thanks for taking us all with you, 👍🏻❤
Hi Martin and Sharon. Enjoyed the tour of York with you both. Old War vehicles are interesting. Liked the train journeys with breakfast and coffee. The three tun pub was old and lovely.
We went to York and toured the Minster, saw the Roman ruins below the cathedral, and ambled through the Shambles. It was amazing that this was a busy economic, religious and political center, when the city I now live in wasn't even a gleam in a planner's eye.
Thanks for that We’ve got friends in York stayed many times. Christmas time is brilliant hope you enjoy it. I’m sure you will me and my wife love it up there. Hope you have a good one.❤️👍👏👏⭐️⭐️
Brilliant video.......thanks for sharing. Love York......have visited many times. Great experience and such a relaxing place to explore. Great way to visit by train and avoid all the stress of parking.
Great visit to York, it really is a lovely place to visit. Apparently the reason it appears that people died long before reaching old age, is high birth mortality. The average brings down the age right down. Actually many lived long lives, much like today.
Hi thank you for sharing your trip of York with us I am a York lady born here and you did some lovely views of the attractions in York shame you found some things expensive the Clifford's Tower has been renovated at the cost of 5 Million you now see so much more once in there and the views once you enjoyed the rest are amazing £11.00 when visiting London or Stratford upon Avon , Many places are similar or more expensive than York and I just want people to know you can enjoy York on a tight budget also thank you again for sharing your trip to York...
Hi Martin & Sharon. We live near Doncaster - well between Doncaster & Wakefield . Never been to York but we pass by it on the way to Scarborough quite a few times a year. Another great vlog ❤
The reason you couldn't get in to the Minster at York the other day was they were filming for the crown a wedding scene. Have a great time in Spain. I've just got back from playa Cala Finestrat. Look forward to the blogs😎
An old meaning of ‘shambles’ is a place where animals were slaughtered . The street in York was originally full of butchers shops and those wide window sills are where they used to display the meat.
Good Old York. brings back many memories, best memory was my eldest daughter at the old coblers shop in the museum 3 year old sang, cobbler cobbler mend my shoe and an American tourist gave her half a crown.
GARGOYLES were originally used on Gothic churches to ward off the evil spirits. Their gruesome faces were meant to be ugly enough to scare the spirits 👿 Love the tour Sharon and Martin😮 Very well done, interesting and authentic, with great enthusiasm! So much history, it’s amazing. In fact, I was surprised to see all the American tanks, jeeps, etc…brought back a lot of memories for me of when I served in the U.S. Army in Panzer Kaserne which , at that time, was located in W. Germany! So much history in York…amazing! Thank you both so very much for the fantastic tour; so much better than so called tours on TV❣️ You folks make it soooo real, I actually feel as though I’m there in person with you even though it’s virtual. I loved the train journey as well and watching the beautiful English countryside ❤️ You two are THE BEST❤ God Bless❣️ BTW, I thought that was funny when you said that you follow The MacMaster on RU-vid, as I do too, but still think Butlers Empire is numero uno❤
Hi Sharon and Martin I love York last time I went was with my sister and niece to the Christmas Market we went on a coach it was so busy you couldn't look at staĺls properly I also went the year before on a sundayjust for a day out and at the market I bought my d sister in law a card for her 60th birthday if was hand made and the was a wooden heart in pink that said happy birthday the lady said she vould put my sister in laws name on and she did and 60th I thought a lovely keepsake love fran xxxx
this is great, my sister and I visited York last october for the first time, we spend 4 great days there so I like what I see here in your clip, brings me back at once. As we loved it in York and we miss it, we booked another visit for 10 days in Late september early october this year, we cant wait to be in York again, geetings from the Netherlands
Hi Martin and Sharon my mum's side of the family used to live above the shrine in the shambles and I used to stay with my nanna who lived above it over summer holidays she used to open it up and get it ready for the mass on a Saturday and Sunday used to play in the market on a weekend as they didn't have them then couldn't let the bath water out until market closed as it would flood it they shambles used to be a butchers street and the gutters used to be to run all the blood form the meat if you saw some shops had hooks to hang the meat outside the shops windows St Margaret clitheroe helped priests escape and was stoned to death on a bridge forgotten the name of it if you pop it on u tube will tell you the story and the alley way on the shambles you went down is call whip ma wot ma gate and on the corner was a sweet shop I love York I could of showed you alot of alley ways and short cuts the graves are from people who died from the plague and they didn't move them as they were scared that if they did the plague would return I could go and have walked the wall you do have gaps in it and have to re join in other places
Not sure if they are still as good back in the day they were but Peter gate fish and chip shop I would recommend again ran by a family friend in the 1980s to I think 2000 we didn't have to queue tho as my auntie worked they and we went to the back near the seating area and they was a side door collected and went back to my nans it not far from the shambles
I've loved watching this! And yep, we'd have had a 'Bacon Banjo' on both trains too! 😋 I keep saying to my husband that "when the dog pegs out*" we'll jump a train for a few days away (mid-week) when the mood takes us. We can get on (at the same station you did!😉) and get to Leeds, York, Harrogate, Newcastle, Durham, and Edinburgh...wherever we fancy. Talk about "You can take the wo/man out of London..."! We would be exactly the same as you two regarding the cost of entry = its extortionate! But it's all about tourism, which I get. But still very pricey. Sure you two would have spent a day walking around Lincoln...huffing and puffing your way up gorgeous Steep Hill (or was that just me?!), that looks pretty similar to The Shambles, all the way up to the beautiful Cathedral & Castle. Glad I managed to do a couple of visits to the Lincoln Christmas Market...First year was really cold and wintery, so very atmospheric. Sharon would have loved it! That 40s Festival (at Woodies??) sounds great. A good few years ago we went to Bournemouth for the weekend to catch a gig. Think it was around a May Bank Hol as it just so happened that it coincided with a Festival there...Festival of Speed or similar??? We love cars so it was the biggest, best bonus to see these wonderful vintage and prestige cards driving around the town/sea front, especially the old Mk1&2 Cortinas and Norton/Vincent/BSM motorbikes (he love the smell of the old oil/petrol, apparently). Beat part: it was all free!😂 *I gest: that dog is our life! It'll break our hearts the day he does actually leave us. Hes 7 now, but bet he'll end up being the oldest dog of his breed, knowing our luck😂dog 🐶❤
Yes, we've visited Lincoln Christmas market a few times, up the hill is very historic as you said. We find it so much easier going on the train on our little visits and like staying in the Premier inn as well.
Are you joking? I wouldn't give anything...I take a flask of coffee and sandwiches. My treat would be a nice cake from a Bakery and that's it. Being stupid with your hard earned money is your problem.
Hiya sharon and martin we are glad you had a lovely time in york its the jewell in yorkshires crown have you been to our streetlife musium and the william willborforce house entrance is free in all our musiums hope we see you here in hull one day best wishes from sue and vic
Hello Martin and Sharon, that was another beauty, we really enjoyed it, York has so much to offer, its been years since we have been, it makes us want to go again. I love Sharon's resentment on Costa's price for a small cup of coffee, I'm with her, its coffee with yuppie pricing just like starbucks, You should look for Dunkin Donuts coffee, I really like it and its cheaper. I figured you might go with a second bacon cob on the train, Cant blame you, we would have too. The room looked nice as it usually does. It was so nice of you to give Macmaster a mention, We watch all of his episodes too, you should invite him over and take him to the Ragged Apron for you know what. Well thanks again we really enjoyed time with you as we always do, enjoy Benidorm, Happy Days as you say.
We love York spent many a weekend there before Martha was born , in fact I purchased my first Oakley sunglasses from York ( I now have a bit of a collection) and I think I spent my 30th birthday in York I definitely purchased my first expensive treat birthday watch about £200 it was a lot of money for me then. Great look around lovely super interesting buildings great vid as always 👍👍
Absolutely fabulous both, a trip down memory lane for me, visited many times in my youth. Shame ripp off britain has its claws in now though, ridiculous prices to visit these places. Shame. Thanks for taking us around
I remember once when we were there, there was a clearance sale at bhs, it was chaos, I managed to buy a pair of sandals for my odd sized feet as they were scattered all over the floor
Love this video.... You guys would be great doing ghost tours... I have never been to the UK (sheltered Kiwi living in Australia) so just love when you show us your getaways... You both are the best... ❤ xxx Nicky
Those prices are ripping tourists off big time. For a couple to visit both the Tower and Museum would cost an overall price of £54....extortionate !! 😫 Then charging people to go to the Loo is taking the piss (pardon the pun). Thanks for excellent informative video. I do love the Train journeys the best. 👍❤
The grave stones on a green near the station below the Bar Walls are from the cholera epidemic in the 1830s, there are 20 graves and are never to be disturbed ever! The graves in king square are the remains of a church yard from Holy Kings Church, no longer here.
Great vblog we have family up by tower bridge was there Saturday love see the boats n old builings ings but agree new high rise glass buildings spoil our london. Arrd glad grandkids had nice day out, we going have pie mash liquor or dare i say gravy this wkend near us! Thank u showing allways enjoy your filming .

Looks like we stayed in York the same weekend you visited. Shame didn’t see you to say hello. We had breakfast at the Ivy, definitely recommend, much better value than I had expected. We walked the entire wall.
As always loved the video, couldn't believe Martin tripped exactly where I did a few years ago, I went flying! & glad you didn't waste money in the tower, we sadly did & it literally took 😢 4 minutes to look around 😮 total waste of money. Thanks for the fun
Nice vlog. Lovely place York but like you say it can be expensive . Richer sounds in Kingston ,popped in there often ,great shop good prices also . Your breakfast looked good .When ever we need to stay overnight we always look for a Premier Inn ,they always seem to have a good deal on . Hope the ankle has got better .mine is the same so i wear a ankle support now .Keep well both of you .
Brilliant adventure Martin and Sharon, i bet you would both enjoy a break in Edinburgh, thanks again for the super interesting video, I'm just off to make a bacon roll 😋😋
That pub is the Golden Fleece one of the oldest in York and hunted these lots of room inside at the front but at the back with the fireplace it’s best to book then these a patio outside the back it’s a hotel as well 😊
Nice video. I went to York once with my son last year on a coach trip, had a walk around some places & on bit of the walls, went to see Dick Turpin's grave. Planning to go back to see other parts we didn't go first time.
