Sorry for the very poor quality, but still a great documentary. I'd love to know what some of these people are doing now, or if they recognise themselves in the film.

Thank You for sharing this video. It brought back a lot of memories. I lived in Goldthorpe 1962-1981, very close to the Buxton Arms, which I visited many times. I studied Geology at Mexborough 6th Form College, and went down Highgate Pit on a Geology "Field Trip" in 1980. My Father and Grandfather were Coal Miners (Barnburgh Main Colliery). I recognised most of the Goldthorpe and Thurnscoe landmarks in the video. Truly a walk down memory lane - Thank You :)

My family ran and lived in the buxton arms in the mid 90s. Was the most haunted place I've ever been. Some of the stories my mum and grandma used to tell me were awful.

Played this pub at football from what I vaguely remember...unless it was another nearby...old Sunday Mexbrough League...watched Kez theear too...araaand 1970 ish...mebbe earlier...my cousins living theear nar...he wroked at Cortonwood...as did a lot of my mates and family...I had one uncle and cousin in Bolton, near to Goldthorpe...a few work mates too from Kirkby Colliery...played Highgate schools from 60s at Juniors...football. I was always thought it was a hard area to live in...as at that time...there were just pits, pit stacks, trains, coking plants, poisonous fumes, soot...and hard looking men...worked all times of the day and night...biggest industril complex in Europe around Wath, Rawmarsh and Mexbrough...tough places, tough folk...but most of em were selfless and kind too...and very close communities...live away now, but coming back in a few yrs...I shall watch all the video later...help me write my book(s)...aaar, themt wo daze...and I'm still in a daze...we wanted coal not dole...but we came up agen a group of rich and powerful demons...incited by Satam imself...aar reckons...

It was real noisy too...trains full of cole...steel...klaxons...drills...coaches...a hive of activity and hard work...some of best workers you could meet from the Dearne Valley...they could play hard an all...

You should be very proud of that . He did his part in us winning the first world war , and that's what Margaret Thatcher seemed to forget .
