Time for a Yosemite Sam compilation. There's some duplicate material in here from some of my other compilations, but much of this is stuff I haven't used yet.
Absolutely.. and by the way.. A Search and rescue game.. with helicopters.. for that matter why not a U.S. Coast Guard game?.. but you are spot on.. Sam would be a great game.
Sam calls that fish a “Sharp-Toothed Salmon”, “Shovel-Nosed Mackerel”, “No Good Bushwhacking Barracuda”, “Dang ol’ Fin Flappin’ Flounder”, “Hammer-Head Halibut” and a “Shark-Livered Varmint”. No wonder the fish hates him.
I love that also. Whether he’s a British king’s cook, a black knight during King Arthur’s time, a German fighter pilot, or a Viking, he always keeps that western accent and always wears that black mask like he’s about to rob a bank.
Ironic considering that rabbits and hares are traditionally sweet, fluffy, timid and harmless little creatures unlike those savage beasts like lions, tigers and bears 😅😅😂😂
Mel had a strong voice and was consistent. Yosemite screamed every line practically and Mel did a lot of yelling voice effects and screams with high octaves. He was the best
7am Saturday morning, wrapped up in a blanket sitting crossed legged on the living room floor eating a bowl of frootloops. Thank you Mr. Blanc....Thank you, From the millions you've entertained over the years...THANK YOU!!! R.I.P
@@kellykissel1105 my favorite animator ever once he branched off with Droopy, Screwball Squirrel, Butch, etc. He really pushed the envelope even further once he left Warner Bros. I always love his stuff and Looney Tunes equally
62 this year and I'm right there with ya, love this stuff 👍 we had the best EVERYTHING back then! TV sitcoms, Saturday morning cartoons, movies, .....music was a way of life for everyone. No cell phones, or computers, everyone knew what sex they were and I've always said of everything that's gone wrong in my life the one thing I'll always be grateful for was being born when I was!
Mel Blanc was the best voice animation of all time. He was just beyond talented and will NEVER be duplicated even when others tried to replicate his voice
The best voice actors are the ones who stand on their own, not the ones imitating Mel Blanc characters. Among them: John Byner, Stan Freburg, Janet Waldorf, June Foray, Don Messick, Paul Winchell, & Pat Harrington, just to name a few Here are only a few examples of cartoon characters played by each of these actors: John Byner: as the ant & the aardvark from David H. De Patie & Friz Freling's _Ant & the Aardvark_ (1969-71) Stan Freburg: as Pete Puma from Looney Tunes: _Rabbit's Kin_ (195?) & _Pullet Surprise_ (1997); Juneyor Bear from _Bugs Bunny & the Three Bears_ (1946) Janet Waldorf: as Princess among the G-Force characters in _Battle of the Planets_ (1978) Originally produced & televised in Japan as _Gatchaman,_ (1972-75) June Foray: starred extensively throughout Looney Tunes (ca 1946-58). A compilation including her characters here on RU-vid is _The Angry Women of Looney Tunes_ Don Messick: Hanna-Barbera creations Muttley (from _Dastardly & Muttley & Their Flying Machines, 1969-70) & _Scooby Doo_ (1969-76) Paul Winchell: Dick Dastardly of _Dastardly & Muttley & Their Flying Machines_ Pat Harrington: Inspector Clouseau from De Patie-Freling's _The Inspector_ (ca 1966-68)
Believe it or not, Yosemite Sam is the hardest Looney Tunes character for Blanc to voice, due to him being raspy. And Sylvester was his normal voice with a lisp.
"Don't sneeze, you stupid dragon! Or you'll blow us to the moon!" The fact that the tower Sam and the dragon were in acted like a rocket made it even more funny.
@@bordersonbudgets yea those were days of true comedy in cartoons, when the shark swallows Sam and he finds that mallot and keeps hitting it then himself still gets me each time!
@@BlacKnightRising It's been a lazy day watching cartoons and cat videos while (still?) locked down in India. Just finished LMAO at a 20-minute compilation of Wile E. Coyote. It doesn't matter that I remember all the punchlines and visual gags, the clips continue to make me howl out loud. (Fortunately, I'm alone in the hostel.) Ah yes, nothing like living life to its fullest.
@@Stephanie-kh6nx I still watch them also (I'm 62) but what's funny is, the jokes and humer were aimed at adults! Being a kid it went right over my head ! Have a great day!!
Mel Blanc was a true legend. That man has done a great job entertaining people over the years. Thank you, Mel for the laughs and smiles you've given us. You deserved it as much as we do. May you rest in peace. *Mel Blanc (May 30, 1908 - July 10, 1989)*
I always found it hilarious that so much of the action wasn't shown, like the lions using tools to lower the stilts or when Sam is lowered into the sewer/trap door. They left a lot of it up to imagination and Mel Blanc's terrific voice acting.
Yosemite Sam- You stupid elephant. I got a notion to teh teh. Now, now now take it easy! Remember my rank. I can have you busted. He tries to get away, but this angry elephant grabbed him, and slammed him to the ground multiple times.
Elephants never forget. Which was why that elephant finally wound up defecting to the other side--and was more than happy to chase Sam away with a big stick!
4:36 That sympathetic tone in Bug’s voice when be says, “Here lions!” Shows how much compassion he had for those lions ( particularly when he threw those tools down for them to use), and also at the same time highlighting the fact once again that he really doesn’t give a stuff about Sam, whatsoever!! 😁👍
That is just so funny if those lions know how to use tools why aren’t they doing a successful carpentry business? Can you imagine that lions owning a successful carpentry business. That would be pretty cool and actually kind of funny. It would be a roaring success. Sorry I had to get that one out.
Yosemite Sam was one of Friz Freleng's finest inventions; some people say that the dynamic little fellow was partly based on Freleng's exuberant personality, and Freleng's daughter agrees with this.
I was born in 03 and seen this on Cartoon Network all the time, you realize a gigantic portion, hell probably all of 2000s kids who watched Cartoon Network saw this stuff right? Especially since it was on ALL THE TIME? Its just the 2010s when shit went downhill. Stop acting like it’s only kids back then who watched this lol or that kids nowadays won’t know what this is, when majority do. And majority grew up the same way you did, you aren’t special nigga.
3:14 I love how uncharacteristically reserved and restrained Sam's grumbling towards the horse is. Compared to all the other interactions, he's downright gentle.
Yeah, you are right about Bugs Bunny; I thought Yosemite Sam was evil, but Bugs is a savage!!! He calmly opens doors, cages, bullpens, pits and poor Sam just get himself mauled or thrashed by lions, sharks, and crocodiles!!!😂
Love the fact Yosemite Sam has five different fish names for that shark. Fin-Flappin' Flounder, Bushwhackin' Barracuda, Shark-toothed Salmon and Shovel-nosed Mackeral.
The shorts (or as you put it episodes) were 1954's Captain Hareblower, 1955's Sahara Hare &Roman Legion Hare, 1958's Oscar winning short (though it got the award in 1959) Knighty Knight Bugs, 1959's Wild and Woolly Hare & Harabian Nights (the only Yosemite Sam & Bugs short that Ken Harris directed) 1961's Prince Violent or Prince Varment after it's television airings 1962's Honey's Money One of two Golden age shorts to star Sam without Bugs and 1963's Devil Feud Cake the last Golden Age Sam short that Friz Freleng directed.
I love how Sam's voice changes when he's beating the lion with a stick, yelling at it to shut up, but soon realizes that his goose is cooked when Bugs opens the cage door, releasing the lion thus allowing it to chase Sam.
Yosemite Sam was far and a way my favorite Looney Tunes character, followed by Foghorn Leghorn. Those were the days back in the 60's, sitting in front of the TV on a Saturday morning watch WB cartoons all morning.
Always loved Sam's fish references the best... 'Shark toothed salmon, hammerhead halibut, shark-livered varmint, shoveled nose makerel, no good bush wakin' barracuda, fin flaappin' flounder....' the specis cross references are just hilarious!!! Thanks for the Sat morning laughs & memories Mel, Sam, Bugs, Daffy, Sylvester and the rest of the gang!!!!👍👍🐰🐰🐰
Warner was at their top of their game when these shorts were originally released during the 1950s and 60s. Sure Sam debuted during the 1940s along with Bugs but these shorts in the video didn't have any from the 40s.
Yosemite Sam seems to always have an identity crisis where he's either a pirate a cowboy a roman legionare a knight or a spaceman or a viking just to name a few it's as if he's suffering from multiple personality disorder.
They don't make cartoons like this now, I heard elmer funny can't use a shotgun to shoot at bugs, he must use a synthetic to hack him. Sad. Acesneigt over.
Yosemite Sam is a versatile antagonist. He has acted as a pirate, Viking, and Knight very well. But in my mind he will always be the quintessential outlaw cowboy of the Old West.
On top of all that, he (usually) had the Jack Benny show on Sunday night to do, so Mrs. Blanc told the kids (his son Noel confirmed this) not to disturb Dad while he recovered his voice.
There is nothing out there now, nor will there ever be, anything as funny as Warner Bros. cartoons. Those who created these masterpieces were absolute geniuses. Could you even imagine sitting around the studio and bouncing ideas off of each other?
This also happened to Sam at the end of "Hare Lift" (1952), where he jumped out of the crashing jet plane laughing his ass off until he realises that he's landing in the police car which was previously after him due to his previously attempted bank robbery at the beginning 😂😂😂😂
The expressions Yosemite Sam made once the tables were turned only added to, and complemented the comedic effect. Plus, the accompanying and changing MUSIC- It ALL was Great!
I am over 50 years old. To this day I will still watch and enjoy these cartoon characters across my television screen. Classic, very humorous, very fun
When he’s trying to run away on stilts it just kills me!!! Not to mention when he calls the shark a hammered headed halibut! I don’t care how old I get these will always be tops in entertainment. Thank you.
