Welcome to the Channel!
Today, we take a look at the mysterious and elusive Yoshi's Story International Version, usually referred to as Yoshi's Story NFR.
When looking at how and why the label could have changed so much between the kiosk copy and its final release, we have to observe and take note of Nintendo's labels from the past and what made the Nintendo 64 such a different medium for the label & box art choices.

It's pretty cool seeing the differences of the box art and cartridge art on these games. Nice CIB copy of RE2, man. I almost feel bad for selling mine now, lol. Look forward to the upcoming vids. 🤘🏻🤘🏻

I never saw the game at a Kiosk but I own a copy of the US ver and enjoyed it. The label discussion was interesting and I never really noticed it. Goode Showwe Olde Sporte

These last couple vids have been a really cool showcase of your collection. Some pretty unreal stuff in there man. I’ve spent so much on comic books over the years that I’ve kept my game collecting fairly modest lol

I had access to a cartridge with that label as a kid. Access to the point of being able to insert it into my N64. Which, as far as I am aware, is an ordinary PAL N64. It worked. How can this be? Is it literally able to be played on ANY N64 and people are just unaware of this fact?

It’s hard to say without knowing exactly what you had… did you have a Japanese copy that fit into PAL consoles? Or a PAL demo?

Great video! Funnily enough I got my copy back in 2016 for $500 (in that time where it was $500-800 like you mentioned) but I’m so glad I got it when I did. Saying that about the price, there’s apparently one that just recently sold for $5500. It seems like it’s jumping again!

Thank you! That’s awesome, man... I actually got it for $500 around 2016 too 🧐 lol and jeez 5500? Was it on eBay? That’s disappointing bc mine sold for $2500 half a year ago or so lol... the Diddy Kong Racing for $3760 or whatever was my most shocking, I’d say!

@@MarMaxGaming yup! It sold on eBay for that on April 3rd 😄 and DKR really sold for that??? Good lord, sounds like NFRs are really starting to see their market coming out! Only other one I have for 64 is Super Mario 64, sad I missed a couple of the others while they were lower lol

@@sfritts10 DUDE, what the hell - 1st of all, it was $6500... 2nd of all, that was MY copy. That’s the same buyer, Tommy Nichols... as in, it’s the game from the video 😳 what the heck! Maybe it’s a “fake” closing on the item... bc that just seems crazy that it’s randomly thousands more... but wow. Need a drink for that... I’m assuming you’ve checked out the other NFR vids on the channel? :)

It was in beautiful condition 😍 the only thing that makes me think final sale was $5500 vs the listed $6500 was the feedback linked to the sale mentioned that price. eBay’s weird like that, could’ve been either or tbh 🤣 and I hadn’t, but I’ll make sure to check out more of your vids! You seem to have covered this one well, so I’ll have to see how you cover the other NFR’s 😄

@@sfritts10 I gotcha, I just typed in Yoshi’s NFR under completed listings and it said in green font $6500, so idk... that’s just crazy. Well congrats on still having yours :) and Mario 64 too... I have the majority of the set but parted with the big 5 demos and Diddy Kong Racing. The plan is to use the NFRs for the reviews on the games, which I actually did with DKR and Star Fox 64 already... kind of a special little thing to show in the beginning of the video, so that’ll continue to be a thing. I had to sell them for moving, but it was definitely worth it in the end and after all those years I’m glad they could go to new homes after I got my use out of them. Looking forward to seeing how you like the others, I appreciate your comments and welcome to the channel!

Big question. Is it possible the label underneath may be unique in some way? Like they at least tried to edit the original with an English title then updated it with the new label before distributing? Unlikely but possible. The only way to verify would be to remove the label but I think that would be difficult to do.

I believe it's already been confirmed for certain that the famicom label is underneath. It's been talked about for so many years, and I'm not sure which copy had its NFR label ripped off or whatever but it's spoken about as if it's been confirmed before. Removing it without ruining it at least a little bit sounds impossible. You could try but they'd end up different by the end of it, I'm sure. And yes, I believe the different back is what allows it to fit & play in a US N64.

Because it has the Japanese version on the cart, and you want a Japanese copy, I just got the original copy, since it was cheaper.

It’s hard to say, since one hasn’t sold in a little while… but $2500+ is reasonable these days. It’s sold for more than that too.

@@brettwineinger4349 those are two great ones to have! I sold this copy in the video and diddy kong NFR a year or two ago… not before featuring it in a Diddy Kong Racing vid. eBay is the place to do it, I would put it in an auction starting them both at prices you’d be okay with accepting. There’s a percentage but it’s WAY better than selling locally to a store or whoever for half or less of its value. If you want these sold and to start a solid little bidding war, take some good pictures, write a description.. obviously offer tracking number… start Yoshi Story at $2000 and Diddy Kong Racing at $1500, do it for a week starting on a weekend. Let me know how it goes!
