DaManWitDaPlan thanks Mr Man with the Plan! It did take a over 2 years just because they're so hard to find but of course games like Gray Majora's mask and Yoshi's international version were tough purchases. Yoshi's has tripled in value since I got mine though!

+MarMax Gaming the ones without the "not for resale" on the front and only a "not for resale" sticker on the back could be fake. if I were you I would open them and compare them with the inside of a regular retail one, there will be a difference.
@Nitroxity

You could actually EASILY fake any of these carts if you did a good enough job doing it.
@MarMaxGaming
@MarMaxGaming 7 лет назад
Kro DaJuggalo yes, I definitely opened them to make sure. When trying to snag games, I do like little flaws at this point because it lets you know it's the original label. You can tell when a glossy label is 20 years old. If it looks like it's brand new, probably too good to be true. It's just the way the market is now. I wish I got into collecting like 10 years ago before all of the crap which makes collecting so hard.

I'm a collector as well, and while I appreciate the historical importance of these carts and understand these are somewhat uncommon, I would never ever pay hundreds of dollars for any of these. But clearly someone is, I guess... makes me smh sometimes, but to each their own I suppose.
@MarMaxGaming
@MarMaxGaming 7 лет назад
Igor Kolosha something to keep in mind is this is what they were worth once I completed the set. I was focused on just finishing the set and 26 games seemed doable! I love the used game market because money isn't lost, you can sell it back whenever.

Nice video, but I don't like NFR games, especially cause as a gamer, the cartridge says NFR and people are RESELLING it at premium prices. Its just sickening to me.

IN PROGRESS PROJECTS thanks for watching, man! Something to keep in mind - these aren’t typical copies, so you or anybody else wouldn’t just casually have one of these copies.. that’s really unlikely. These basically need to be hunted for specifically, since they are obscure and from those kiosks.

The video wasn't bad, but I clicked on the video hoping you would talk about what makes each game so rare. This is more of a showcase than anything else.
@MarMaxGaming
@MarMaxGaming 7 лет назад
iKrager it's more so explained in the first couple minutes of the video. They're demos for kiosks and that's what makes them rare. As far as what separates them from being Ultra Rare and Common it's usually just that there were more completed game NFRs than unfinished For Demo use. I appreciate your feedback!

Great video! Grey OoT seems to be getting a little more uncommon as I've only seen one every couple months and lately many of them have been faded or otherwise flawed labels. I got mine a year or so ago I believe and have seen maybe 6 new ones on ebay since I got mine. I was surprised what they were going for, managed to find one at a local store marked at the price of a regular OoT cart.

Thank you, Nolan! Those are 3 great pieces right there, I’d be really pleased with that :) I actually don’t have six of these carts anymore, since I sold them before we moved last year. But I DID make sure to do individual videos / reviews on each of the demo carts, including gray Majora’s Mask… along with the gray DK, Turok 2, Pokemon Snap Blockbuster, Yoshi’s Story… hope to see you there! Marmax gaming I owe you a beer. I watched this video less than a week ago and boy did i strike gold lol. I visited my local gaming store and they had a nfr pokemon stadium 2 for $80 in the glass case. However, out on the rack where they have "cheaper/less valuable games" I found a NFR copy of Star wars episode 1 racer for $5.99. I was nervous thinking the clerk might catch it as i was checking out, but thankfully he didn't notice. Thanks to you i am know $50+ richer

I just bought my first NFR cart, Excitebike. It has a couple rough spots on the label, but overall it looks ok to me. But even then it was 3x the cost of what you describe in your video. The price of these NFS carts is super high. Collecting all 26 will cost you 5x more than collecting all 296 NTSC games. More than enough to buy a brand new car! So unfortunately I cannot justify trying to collect them all. Im just gonna scoop up 2 or 3 of the cheaper ones to go along with me game collection
@MarMaxGaming
@MarMaxGaming Год назад
Congrats on the excite bike scoop! This vid is 6 years old at this point. Would it really be that much higher than a full set? I know there are some expensive games and a lot more of them…
@007craft
@007craft Год назад
@@MarMaxGaming Yes. Of the 296 games, less than 15 games cost more than $100, and less than 5 cost over $200. The whole collection can be had for around $12000 or less if you get some good deals and shop around. On the flip side, the 26 Not For Resale games today cost around $17800 for all of them, and since they are rare carts, they are harder to come by you will most likely have to pay much more for them and and their value increases by a larger margin with each sale.

no but seriously, I always buy these for EVERY system as I own the majority of as all the platforms and I never thought anyone else was really into them... I figured the majority of them are destroyed and it's like a civic duty to protect them...

Marty Santiago Turok Rage Wars does have a rare gray variant; this video was just to highlight an overlooked “set” of cartridges. There are definitely a lot more than 100.. there are 5 copies on eBay alone at this very second.

I'm gonna guess that the last ones are much more common because at that time stores were disposing of N64 kiosks to make space for the GameCube and when they disposed of the Kiosks many of the latest demo titles found there way out to the general public.

I never knew they made demo carts for these, i'm surprised they had one of those types of games for N64. The More You Know. Question. Is any of these been uploaded as a rom to the internet? Just wondering.

I have a couple of these that have a separate "Not for resale" sticker. I know they are legit not for resales (they came from blockbuster as I knew people working there), but I'm curious if you've run across any of these in the wild and whether or not they'd be considered authentic because of that.

21shroom yes 😅, it took over 2 years and it was almost the only gaming related purchases I made during that time. I was checking eBay a few times a week pretty consistently for NFRs, which is how I learned the overall asking and sold prices.

TheKidCollector that's an example of a "Not for resale" because it was bundled with the system and didn't come on its own sold separately. There are millions of sonic "not for resale".. good question!

The funny thing with the NFR games, is that you actually don't see any PAL versions anywhere. Except I've been told that Turok 2, has both a PAL and NTSC NFR cart... A complete, completed collection would have the PAL version. 8-)

PRGSPY_RBLX_OfficialYT does it matter? It's video games. I play over half of these in emulation now. Enjoyed them as a kid. But wouldn't dare spend money on them now. ESPECIALLY now seeing I can get them for free. Cool Boarders...i still have that cartridge. I don't know why I loved it as a kid. Lack of choices I guess. But I can't stand that damn game now lol
@PRGSPY
@PRGSPY 6 лет назад
Agon Leed you know Nintendo is starting to cut down on ROM Distributors right?
@agonleed3841
@agonleed3841 6 лет назад
PRGSPY_RBLX_OfficialYT the thing is, Nintendo didn't start out with even allowing tom distributers. It happened years and years ago illegally. And at that time, I could understand them being angry took away sells. But when they officially did not distribute the product themselves, there was no way to get it unless you already had copies, knew someone, or bought it from a person who had it. Nintendo no longer made it. Nor were they sending it out as roms. That was just what the internet had. Since that time roms and emulators have been in the internet like pools of water. Lakes, oceans, rivers, however you want to compare it, because it's dumb to buy water, when you have it already available, unless you just really enjoy the bottle it's in. They're essentially bottling water and making you pay for it is the point. Plus.....this whole NOT FOR RESALE cartridge thing....nintendomisnt selling them. These are people who already have them selling them to others who want it. Nintendo has no process in the deal. It would be like your friend from school bought the game 20yrs back. Now you want it. And you buy if from him. When you bought from him, how much did Nintendo make from THAT transaction that day? Emulators and roms are like porn and pictures in the internet. It's out there. There's virtually no way to stop it now. Back in 2006 when I was stuck in barracks on marine base just saving money after my Iraq tour and waiting to E.A.S. out, I was just looking for a way to play old nes to ps1 games in my browser. Found out about emulation. And since then I've replayed games I had as a kid, which I had every system except dreamcast. And I've had a chance to play games I've never played. O have emulators and every game I like and enjoy on hard drives. And themselves foe transport. And with new technology, on my tablet and cellphone. I'm sure others do as well. As I learned about it late in the game. There were already help about configuration and all that. My point...if there ever comes a time when internet tries to monetize "water" people still have a stock already. And in the world of technology, all you have to do is copy and paste and send. And it's right back on the internet again. If they wanted to monetize it and be effective, they would be done it from the start. But now we're at a point where buying it is just a dumb decision. Support new games. And new creators. But there's on reason to pay for what you get for these every old titles. Unless you just LOVE the bottle they come in. And a NOT FOR RESALE cartridge just isn't that nice of a bottle
