Thanks for all the well wishes, friends! If you're wondering where my profile pic is ... well, so am I! But the good news is, I'm not locked out of my own channel anymore! Full story here: twitter.com/theMrMobile/status/1213248345369653248?s=20
Very happy that you're back, Michael. I always enjoy your videos, and they are really a jolt of happiness in my day. So happy you're back. BTW, I really like how the studio is looking. Hopefully, we will get a tour?? LLAP
Thank God you are back , i was wondering about you today morning in Pakistan 🙁 happy to see you. But new year did not strat well without your videos of "best smart phone of 2019 awards" plZ make video
I see that you're trying talking to the camera more and not just voice over b roll. I like it. It helps reinforce the conversational flow of your reviews.
This is the watch I've been waiting for. This is the review I've been waiting for. I'm keen on hybrids and this one is a next level. The model that blended classic and smart watches being still stylish and long living but techy enough at the same time. I think I gonna get one.
I got the rose gold style- perfect for a teacher and anyone who shouldn't have a smart device on them the majority of their time working. I mostly wanted a fitness tracker with a traditional clock face so this fits the bill. Absolutely love it and not having to charge every other day. I find the tracking is excellent though my time reading before bed is often counted with my sleep. I've found the sweet spot for waking up the screen via tap is above or below the hands, not too close to the center. Thanks for your in depth review
Welcome back to RU-vid, Michael! Seeing you face the camera reminded me of your early days at Pocketnow where you would sit in the sound booth and face the camera. A nice little bit of nostalgia to start off 2020!
I'm all-in on the Garmin ecosystem and a watch enthusiast. The STANDARD 20mm lug width is one of the nicest stats on this watch. I already have a bunch of 20mm straps and tossed the default blue strap that comes with the Luxe back in the box.
I love your channel. I am currently watching every video you posted on the RU-vid so far even if it's about the tech that is 3 years old. Shame you only have a million subscribers. It should have been 20 millions at least.
Welcome back MrMobile. The same older generation vivomove HR offered back in 2017 was a really good buy. Really happy they stuck with the hybrid and updated it this time around! Thanks for the video. Will be upgrading to this model soon
I really want more of these hybrid watches. I will forever want an analogue watch, but having smartwatch features as well without sacrificing the glorious mechanical parts is exactly what I want. Hopefully there are more options coming in the future, including more aesthetic choices (I've got a somewhat particular aesthetic preference for my watches which isn't really fulfilled by any smartwatch yet, but the hybrids are getting close).
As always, a great review, Michael. Not really a fan of the audio from the Bluetooth mic you are using in some of the cuts, but at least you can be understood. Keep reviewing those watches. You're the best at it
Welcome back, dude! First off, I loved how different this video is compared to the others (can't say I loved it more than your old "voiceover-only" format, but I also can't say I loved it less), there was just an instance (at 3:50) where it felt a bit weird to hear you talking without your lips moving. As for the MARQ Captain review, I know I don't have an interest in *buying* it, but I'm sure other followers will agree with me that we'd sure like to watch a review about it. In part because we like watching every video you release, but in my case also because each review helps to paint a clearer perspective about where smartwatches are going and to find out what caught your eye about it. Anyway, thanks for all the great content!
Great review 👍🏼 Id love to hear more on the Marq. I’m in a smart watch limbo where I’ve started buying analog watches again in appreciation of the engineering that goes into them. Mainly because I’m bored of smart watches. That is until I saw you mention the Garmin Marq...!
Welcome back Michael and thanks for the review. I've been very happy with the previous gen Vivomove and was thinking of getting the exact Luxe model you reviewed (silver background screen). I'm worried though about the screen legibility in bright light conditions (indoors on a sunny morning or outside shade - i suppose in direct sunlight it will be kind of useless like it's predecessor). If you could share your opinion on this i'd be grateful. Cheers!
I have to tell you. I watch all the major tech reviewers out there and you are, by far, my favorite. I refuse to spend my money on a piece of tech without watching your review first.
I appreciated this review and appreciate you lightly touching on the companion phone apps for the watches. I have a withings steel sport HR and like a lot of its features, but it's app really shines and keeps me in that system - will you be talking more about phone apps in the future as part of the review? I know they change over time but so do smart watch features. Would you consider doing a smart watch buying guide/very general overview of several?
Mr.Mobile is my go-to channel for smartwatch reviews. It's become somewhat of a tradition, over the years- to watch every new smartwatch's review on your channel first. So yes, make that captain watch review!
Happy New Year to you! I have always enjoyed your top quality videos and this is no exception. I particularly like how you have started to talk to the camera, rather than from the editing suite. Please keep it up, it adds a certain je ne sais quoi
Hey, welcome back! Great upload. What would be you pick between this one and the fossil collider? I was dead set on the fossil, but this one locks slick too. Keep up the awesome videos. They are really a step up from everyone else.
Good to see you Micheal.. I saw your post earlier about what happened with your channel and I am glad you got it sorted out. Sorry you had to deal with this with the new year.. anyway, happy new year to you 😊
Cool tech and hope it comes along better. I'm currently using the Mi Band 4 and other than needing better looks, it really does what I need. Hope you had a good holiday period. Keep up the good work Mr Mobile.
Nice video as always. Glad to have you back. I really hope that you achieve the success you deserve on this 2020 (more than million subs) Keep the good work!
Happy New Year Mr. Mobile! Put me down for that Marq Captain review, surprised there's something else out there more expensive than my Montblanc! Actually, could you do the Driver as well? I don't sail, cars are my thing (and it's only $2,500! 🤪)
Just saying, Garmin introduced the hidden display hybrid feature a good time (1-2 years) before Fossil. It was called Vivomove HR, which would technically be the predecesor for this watch.
That's spooky. I literally left a comment a couple weeks ago to do the marx captain smartwatch but thought it was unlikely due to the price. Would love to see a review!
They would be so nice if only they were using e-ink. Using less power and the option to have a screen of your choice always on. The Fossil is close but no touch screen and not near the quality of the Garmin. Battery life on the Fossil however is awesome. OLED might seem stunning at first but as soon you walk out of the store it's clear that it comes with a very high cost. E-ink or transflective is the way to go on smart watches. It's not a multimedia device to watch movies on! True full details always on display are so underrated!
I'm still happy with my Gear S3 Classic. It's a great looking watch, has a stellar choice of straps, and I can stretch the battery life out to three days.
@@shahmirkhan5373 I'm not sure if it is just my imagination but I swear the battery discharges faster when I'm not wearing the watch, other than that no issues. I've had the Gear S3 since July 2018, I got it second hand from eBay for £200.
I love Garmin watches. Fenix 5 user myself, I long for something less bulkier that can still track my walks. Though it seems that you can't take one of these on aa triathlon. Please do more Garmin reviews Michael.
Dear Michael, you can review a tyre and we will watch it. Absolutely top notch level, love it. I am totally confused as to which smartwatch to buy which can basically tell me the path I covered, how much time I took, etc etc. Your reviews are just like the supercharger boost to the Naturally Aspirated engine. You are awesome!!
this is unexpected from gps company i really like the classiness of it maybe I'll buy it as my first (modern) smart watch one day as i already have the casio cal watch(if that even count as one) . and yes.. I'm glad you're now "in-control" of your channel again kinda worried me when the profile pic missing
Of course we want to see the Marq review! I think the Marq Driver is the one targeted at me, but it doesn't make sense on paper as any serious driver already has a quality GPS lap timer like an AiM, so I'm wondering if the others are actually useful to their respective target audiences.
Always a fan of more Garmin watch reviews (mostly I see reviews by triathletes of the Forerunner watches) but would really love to see a review of the Venu or the Vivoactive series. I feel like those would be a good fit to review here since they're in competition against the Fitbit Versa and other more "smart" fitness trackers. Though I would also like to see the review of the Marq Captain. I'm intrigued by the Marq series and would like to see what you get for $1500+ from Garmin (though as a pilot student I'm more partial to the Aviator).
Thanks for the review! very nice design.. I also wish Garmin would use buttons like on the Fenix series.... watches will always be a tactile experience * no matter how techy.. I'd actually like a review of the Marq's sibling device.. The "Pilot" I think it's called. perhaps a review of the Captain will be very close... happy 2020 Mr. Mobile..
This is SO CLOSE to exactly what I want from a smart watch. I think if the screen were bigger as you mentioned and the software does seem to overlook some basics. Otherwise, a great alternative.
I love my Garmin Luxe. After seeing many Hybrid watches thinks this is the closest to perfection your going to get. Your never going to get a perfect hybrid but this is close. As far as double tap goes it always comes on and no trouble with tapping. Do it to soft and wont work as I had the older vivomove hr so got used to tapping it right. As for days I get out of the watch I charge mine every 3 days but leave the Oxy sensor and uses a bit more power. I love the more complete stats of the new vivomove and Oxy sensor is nice having and gives more info for sleep data. I may well get 4 days on a charge but is not good for your batteries overall health and life. It's not good getting your battery below 30% yes could stretch 4 days but dont as its better on your battery to charge more often. Just because they state you will get 4 or 5 days does not mean you should. It's like a car, they may say its capable of doing 150mph but does not mean you should or would do it all the time. If you could would reduce its motor life very quickly. Same as a watch battery getting it flat or near it will reduce the ammount of battery cycles it will do.
Even the "expensive" one's are a lot more affordable than an Apple watch of any kind. You can easily replace the battery and make these last 10 years. Have fun trying to use your Apple or Samsung watch after 10 years, or even 3... Then pay another 500!
