It really needs no correction even africans say it. "This is AFRICA!" While in nigeria or kenya.

it’s so annoying honestly! i can’t even count the times where i got told i talk proper and that im not “black” enough, it’s exhausting coming from your own people ! i’m glad i came across your channel and u just earned a sub💗

As a uniqa I heard the "not black enough phrase" quite a bit. Like they are so against us uniqas or """oreos""" who are monoracially black, yet so ready to accept a non black person who listens to hip hop or wears street fashion with open arms.

Yes exactly, they will willingly except anyone to the “cookout” as long as their for the “culture”. Even when you look at the media in America it’s mostly one type of blackness that is shown. Which plays part in the mentality that we can only be one way. Thank you for your comment, 💖.

I'm so thankful that my mother taught me to appreciate education and cultural diversity. I am mixed with several things from both sides of my family, but I get pulled into the black category typically, so that would definitely cause issues at school when I had my own identity and even wanted to engage different parts of my culture. The "Jordans" thing was so ridiculous in high school 🤣I wouldn't buy those because I spent money on general nice clothes that I thought looked nice, focusing on going to school for education. Edit: One of the last points you made resonates so much. I feel like those people do want to feel validated in who they are. If they let past traumas keep them down, they want you to be down as well. If you break out of that box, it tends to make them upset and feel like they failed. It's the crabs in a cooking pot mentality

@@ClassyGiriesOnly yes the crab bucket mentality in the black community is SO bad

I honestly think part of it is jealousy that there can be people in the black community benefiting from having different cultural backgrounds. It gives a new perspective to life and I believe that it can help people to not fall prey to the toxic mindset in the community. It was like a cult when it came to Jordans haha 🤣 I was not into the street wear type of style. I think it’s very cute, but it just isn’t me. Exactly, misery loves company. I’m glad it resonated with you. Thank you so much for commenting and watching. 💖

@@prettycoloredgirls is that why they don't want non-AA black people unless they assimilated into black american culture?
@prettycoloredgirls
@prettycoloredgirls Месяц назад
Yes I believe so. But because of AA peoples desires to be in proximity to whiteness non AA people are not held to the same standard.

As cliche as it sounds, in the end we're all just people, humans, on a small rock in a vast universe, caring seems petty from a wider perspective. Do what you want, literally, live for you, the phrase alone, "black enough" means youre trying to prove to someone.

I don't care because I'm not a color. Other people say that I'm black but I've never considered myself to be that. I've never been accepted and that's cool for me. I'm not going to join a cult.

This video is more about not fitting in the American Black Culture, but it definitely applies to those groups you named. As I mention in the video I have seen a lot of mixed/lighter skinned people get hate if they don’t “act black”. Thanks for your comment.💖
