Thank you. Though it’s nuts that iRobot doesn’t have a COMPLETE manual that goes through every step of cleaning/maintenance. There’s info here and there, but not in complete, logical fashion in one place - not scattered here and there. Every other manufacturer of machines/appliances that we own provides a manual, paper or on line or both. The only way we learned 99% of the steps to maintain our Roomba is through the Just A Dad Videos channel: “How to Fix/Clean iRobot Roomba J7+ Filters & Roller Brushes,” and now iRobot gives us this extra little tidbit. Neither the app on our iPads or Galaxy phone have it clearly spelled out. Maintenance is part of every vacuum cleaner and iRoomba falls short when it comes to clear, *easy to find* communication.

@@DGTelevsionNetwork not our owners manual, which was digital. But the videos I founds, mainly on the channel I mentioned, provided solid info.

@@bethjeans3780 Check page 5 through 9. It shows how to clean the bin, remove and clean rollers and where to clean the camera and IR sensors. The only thing it doesn't mention is the brush wheel.

Thanks so much! It’s nuts that iRobot does not have a simple and COMPLETE manual! I’ve learned all the ins and outs of maintaining the Roomba from videos and searching on line. Every other manufacturer of tools and appliances that we own has a complete, logical manual, either paper or on line or both. iRobot has some items here and there on their app but nothing that helped us learn how to clean/maintain the Roomba step by step. No wonder things go wrong for so many people.

It zcollects more dirt within externals than actually inside the bin 😂btw replace with roborock S8 you’ll understand what cleaning actually is.

@@bethjeans3780 my Dyson requires way less maintenance. Some of us have disabilities and need to be very aware of where we expend the limited capacity we have.

@@kayelle8005 of course the Dyson is less work - because we do the work. That is, unless there’s an automatic one now? I have a cordless Dyson, and while cleaning/maintenance is far less frequent, it’s more difficult for me when it has to be done. For a long time it was very hard to dispose of debris. It had to be fixed (no charge at the time) but eventually that part broke so we had to buy another one. Because of a humerus/shoulder break my dominant arm is not 100% and vacuuming is tiring and hurts some but I still like the Dyson too. IOW pick your poison. I should add that I’m lucky in that I can put the Roomba in front of me upside down on a towel on a table that I’m sitting at. Or if my husband is at home he’ll put it in front of me. So I’m not holding it and do not have to bend over (I can’t squat due to knee issues). But no one vacuum type is good for everyone, absolutely.

I’m selling my roomba j7 and braava mop combo after 6 months for half the price. And getting a lidar ecovacs. iRobot is hopeless. Weak battery, no real life mapping, no way to run it without lights, bad mapping, weak mopping, constant bumping into furniture with force, overpriced and most importantly it takes 3 hours to vacuum and mop my 60sq m downstairs! Over 3 hours! It’s so inefficient. I have ecovacs in another property and it is much much better especially with Ozmo pro mop.

Forgot to mention IT DOES NOT HAVE LIVE MAPS! This is a 1000 euro/dollar combo. You can get a flagship robot with everything for half that price. And it will be much much better.

I’m addicted. I love to buy them…use them, fix them and give away or sell to feed my habit. My coworkers get them, the mail carrier has one now and all my kids have them….and some of their friends too. I love the challenge of repair as well. I also dabble in other brands and can say after 15 years of experience with robot vacs, there’s nothing as well made as an IRobot Roomba. Roborock is getting close and has a few advantages over the j7 combo, but it’s reliability is not as good and much more difficult to repair.
