I didn't even think of it but then again, Marvin was only twenty when he and Anna, who was days shy of her 38th birthday, met in the dawn of 1960 (way before the impromptu piano performance at Hitsville that got Marvin his Motown contract in December 1960). You can say, disturbingly, that Anna "groomed" Marvin. I think she really messed him up worse than Daddy Dearest Gay. And that says a lot because we know how disturbed Daddy Dearest Gay was to his son and siblings (who still downplay Father Gay's actions; though Jeanne chewed her dad out on "Divided Soul"; Zeola seemed to be Daddy Dearest Gay's closest child). :(

Okay Nay Rob.. I had to pause because you pondered out loud as to why Anna waa hell bent on breaking Marvin.. I'm not sure if you ever heard the Here My Dear Cd, but I still own that cd. I love it.. I know a couple of people say didn't like it, but I have an appreciation for it because I understand it... but anyway if you ever get a chance look it up on youtube.. Make sure you find the version with all the songs, and listen to it from the beginning to the end.. He tells some honest truths,.. you will understand why she wanted to destroy him after that. She was bitter and pissed.. I am sure later on she realized taking all his money still didnt heal that pain.

Well when I listened, it sound like a man crying over his wife. Marvin was deeply in love with Anna. That reincarnation song was basically saying he really hope to meet her again in the next life time.

I love the I want you album, but I love almost everything Marvin Gaye sang from my dear, beautiful Mother’s favorite when I was a toddler “ Subborn Kind of Fellow “ and “ Hitch Hike” to many of my favorite jamming gems especially “Got To Give It Up” and most in between. My least favorite album was the Here My Dear Album some were good but most of it disappointing. I tried to like it because it was all over the news that the proceeds from that album would go to Anna as a divorce settlement. The only song I liked from that album was “ A Funky Space Reincarnation”. All of the titles were intriguing but probably to dark for me at that time, I don’t know.

He wasn't trying to make his ex all the money, so some of those songs was probably just not up to Marvin's standard, Afterall, he was not going to get to enjoy any of the money from that album. I would imagine it was quite difficult for him to make, or maybe not cause he wanted to send a message.He knew she didn't need the money...It was she being petty and spiteful.
