@@P4PKing well if you can read i pointed out that that i was not going through this emotions, because i knew that incest was a thing between royals back then. i never acted like it was normal for everybody. but yeah, just believe what you want, i wont tell you or others how to feel or what to believe. In contrary, the first posting i commented on acted like everyone went through the same emotions: "Why is there incest?", oh boi hahaha we all went through all of those emotions" .. which is not true. im sure many people knew why there is incest.

@@AutomanicJack I was aware of incest among royal families before watching Game of Thrones. It still didn't make it any less shocking to see a brother and sister having sex on screen for me. Even still, during the time period of when the TV show Game of Thrones takes place incest is not commonplace. It was only common among Targaryens who also somewhat fell out of the practice and are mostly all dead by the time the show starts anyway. The faith itself prohibits inbreeding. That becomes much more obvious later on in the show.

Stef, this show will make you go through all the range of human emotions possible. I am very excited you are starting this ride! The first 2-3 episodes are FULL of info and a bit harder to absorb, but you'll be surprised how fast these names, places and characters will enter your mind.

Commodus is who you were thinking of, the emperor in Gladiator. Also, if it was Sean Bean you recognised and were unsure where he was from (Eddark Stark in this), he is in Lord of the Rings, he plays Boromir (the guy who takes three arrows in the first film; "I would have followed you. My brother, my captain, my king")

This show is very good with the exception of the limited budget, comes with limited the battle scene. I wish there were more battle scenes. And the finally, they completely rushed the final season. Should have at least another season or two to do real justice to this show.

I would recommend paying close attention when they talk about the past. It’s usually very important information that will come back later on, and it can be confusing if you don’t understand it. Otherwise I hope you enjoy! Truly one of the best shows

It took all of us a minute to get the names and faces and all of the aspects of the world straight. It will sort itself out. I promise. I actually gave up on the show after 3 episodes the very first time I tried watching it when it first came out. Someone I was seeing twisted my arm to give it another try and by the end of the first season I was obsessed. Don't give up.

Oh, my sweet summer child, what do you know about fear? There are more characters in this show than any other show in history. There are seven kingdoms and that is just on one continent. You may want a map and a pen and pad of paper to keep it all straight, otherwise, you will be very confused for a long time because this show never stops introducing new characters and kingdoms and making references back and forth. If you don't keep track you may miss out on a lot. For this show, you need the memory of a Northerner because The North Remembers.

I never watched fantasy films before Lord of the rings, so I was lost watching that the first time as well. Didn't even watch it till nine years after it came out. Same way with Game of Thrones for me. Started watching it when the last season was on and binge watched to catch up. It is a lot of information so don't be embarrassed to take notes. I promise you, it's the best show you've ever watched and be careful of people who love to throw out spoilers!

Yeah I totally get how you feel and it's supposed to feel that way. We haven't yet got to the start of character building let alone evolution and as each character evolves and when their intentions and journey gets more clearer so does the story unfold until you recognise the scale of what Game of Thrones can offer you. To me GOT is a journey of world building with suspense and excitement at each turn and it's the mystery and the reveal of such epic scale with the story and it's characters that fascinates me to this day. Yes, it also has all of "that", for which reasons are yet to reveal themselves.

This is definitely a show where you need to make an effort to remember who each character is; their names, relations, etc. There are so many characters that are actually important and not just background people. Every episode literally has dozens of main characters in.

You'll piece everything together in time. It's a lot to take in, and can be confusing at first, but it will all come together. And it's weird and disturbing, but it's really really good.

Excited for this, such a great show. There are a lot of names and factions and such and you will get confused early on but you'll figure it out as it goes on. One thing I would recommend is looking up or even printing/buying a map of the game of thrones world so you can better understand where people are and the different kingdoms, cities, bodies of water as they'll be referenced a lot and it will help to understand what's going on so you don't have to worry about figuring out the geography and the characters at the same time.

Don't be surprised if you feel like braking up with the show at points. felt pretty refreshing for you to say you wanna learn the names and history to make the viewing experience better, usually reactors seem to just react to the pretty colors on screen and not actually invest themselves in the world and story. This show was the flagship of HBO. Since HBO was a premium pay channel they tried to make sure every episode included things (sex, violence, language) you didn't get on regular broadcast or cable (not much streaming going on back when GoT began) just to remind you why you paid extra. You'll eventually get used to it. I'm not sure what your source is for the episodes but, for every season, there were a few hours of history and lore to fill out the back story. I recommend you find a map of the two continents (Westeros and Essos) on the internet and print it out so you can see where the characters are in relation to each other. They are greatly spread out at the beginning but will eventually meet later. The opening credits actually show you where the major locations are at the beginning of each episode. Good luck. I'm sure you'll do an excellent job.

That ending was also what intrigued one of the eventual showrunners to keep reading. They just couldn't believe that this is how that book started. And a later chapter was what make the eventual showrunners decide they just HAD TO try and make this into a show. Game of Thrones (and its prequel, House of the Dragon) were based on stories told by someone who was tired of the hero's journey tales everyone in fantasy was telling. He wanted to tell a more historical version of reality where the heroes are sometimes terrible and the villains are even more terrible but also sometimes heroic.

I'll put it this way, Game of Thrones is like if LOTR was written/made realistic. There are magical elements but there's no wand spell casting as such. Also you recognize Ned from LOTR... It's Boromir

Intro sequence that looks like a mechanical model: It changes based on the locations shown in that episode. It gives you an idea of what that episode is going to focus on if you know where characters are located.

It was inspired by Lord of the Rings. The author wanted to create a version of that classic fantasy world where good or evil actions have random results, as we might see in the real world. There are a lot of mirrored aspects to LOTR: sidekicks named Samwell/Samwise are just one example. George R.R. Martin loved Tolkien’s world-building.

You seem like you have seen a lot of things already so it shouldn't upset you that much but there's nothing comparable to Game of Thrones when you start feeling invested, you will get hurt everytime you feel safe. It's confusing at first but you'll get most of eventually. We're off to a great start sweet summer child.

This isn't a spoiler, but as you've seen, each show jumps around quite a bit, following several different stories in different locations. For instance, in the first few minutes, we saw scenes at "The Wall" (in the North,) in Kings Landing (the Capitol of the "7 Kingdoms,") Winterfel (which is in the North, but south of "The Wall") and Pentos. During the introduction of the show, there are scenes showing models of the different cities or areas, and those are hints of where the stories will be occurring during the current show. The style of the show is (very) loosely based on the intrigues between the different houses and families in medieval Europe. While there does appear to be a lot of information thrown at you during the beginning of the series, you'll quickly get used to it, as you begin to understand the motives of the characters. I'm really looking forward to your reactions as you watch this show. At least you don't have to wait a year (or more) between seasons!

It's how most of us felt at the beginning ( I've read the books long before the show but I remember how weird it was lol ) I would say its normal. It is an amazing story and really worth watching and I think it will help to grow your channel as well. There are a LOT of people going from one channel to the next watching it over and over again. Also if I am not mistaken a certain episode of the 3rd season started the entire "react" meta on YT. I can safely say that you are in for a ride and you will do well if you brace yourself for whats to come. Great characters, great stories and waves upon waves of WTF moments. :)
