You and I - Anthony Newley and Petula Clark 1978 

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Newley in the 90's. He was lovely and gone too soon.

There was chemistry with every woman who even came near Anthony Newly... he truly was exceptionally charming gentleman.

Love Newley, didn't appreciate when alive took for granted, like most things in life.

I think there may have been some real chemistry between those two. When I first saw him perform, I think I was about 13, I thought he was the most handsome man I had ever seen. And still today, at the age of 62, I still think the same. The voice, the mannerisms and his beautiful face. I watched "Anthony Newley , This Is Your Life, on Utube the other night. Just a wonderful show. Love you, Anthony.

Stunning. Goodbye Mr Chips one of my all time favourite tear jerker movies. Had a tear just watching this. Leslie Bricusse is one of the most underrated composers of the 20th century.... The man was a genius and his co compositions with Anthony Newley, well I can't find the words.....

They go back a long time, I believe in movies when they were both much younger.

Newley had that voice, even when you knew the song you would never no the direction he would take performing it.

She introduced this beautiful song in the 1969 musical remake of the 1939 MGM film Goodbye, Mr. Chips. It was the best song in the movie, and it has a haunting melody and sentiment. Nice version done by these two old pros.

Petula Clark beautifully sings this song like no artist could today. l believe most singers today lose the connection and intimacy like this by trying to over sing each other. This is outstanding and how l miss the great talented Anthony newley.

Petula and Tony appeared together is a film called Vice Versa when they were children. Two enormous talents; he will be missed for his genius as a composer and entertainer and she is loved and will be loved for her talent and adorable personality. That is Leslee Bricusse wearing the glasses when they return for the interview. He composed that lovely song for the movie Goodbye Mr. Chips.

Child actors together and now grown together as perfect performers.

Sometimes. it just comes together and it's magic. Rarely captured.; Performers usually don't know how special the moment is.

I wish I had a tenth of his charm. At the very end Petula has fallen in love with him. Look at her face! That’s too much. So beautiful.

The Newley/Bricusse collaborations were remarkable works of art. Perfect words to the perfect notes. I compare them to watching the Bolshoi Ballet performing "Swan Lake." Grace and meaning within each movement. Like any great art, it moves you before you know why.

What a shame time couldn't have just stood still right here. And here we'd still be..... And Anthony Newley, Dame Joan Sutherland and Luciano Pavarotti and Baryshnikov and Nureyev were all still with us. Why stop there. Beethoven and Bach for that matter. Now I'm just getting depressed.....

OMG!! Great Song!! I didn"t know that Anthony was married to Joan and had 2 kids with him. We learn new things as we get older!! LOL I'm 55 Love Downtown and Don"t sleep in the subway daring. My first trip to new york those songs stuck in my head. All the best Bobby Trice

He was right to urge her to focus more on her songwriting. Out of the big six 60s Brit-Girls (Dusty, Petula, Sandie, Lulu, Marianne & Cilla), Petula was the only one to regularly contribute to her repertoire of crack written fare by 60s pop songwriting giants. Personally penning at least a couple of tracks per album and regular B-side slots, in the company of the likes of Tony Hatch, Bacharach & David, Goffin & King etc, the fact that these songs stood tall is no mean feat.

Both Petula and Tony were child actors who performed together in a film.
