I started singing this to my daughter on her birthday when she was just a small child. She is now 35 years old and ever year, on her birthday, I call and sing this song to her. It makes me cry every time!
My mom used to sing this to all of us kids when we were young; then I did the same for my children when they were young. Three years ago today, my Mom 'graduated' to her next heavenly adventure. Kristi. I hope your mom is better. I know this was recorded in December 2021 so I’m sending prayers that everything is good. This song is special to me because I used to sing it to my kitty, Lucy, every night. When she got sick and was dying, it was hard to not cry when I sang it. The day she died, I sang it to her as she passed away. I don’t sing it every night anymore, but I do sing it, and when I hear someone else sing it, it brings me to tears. My mom would sing this to my dad when he was in the memory care unit. It always made him smile. They were married 68 years when he made his journey to heaven.

I just lost my beautiful Golden Retriever Boy 2 days ago. I would sing this to him every day after I put his food and water bowls down for breakfast and dinner. He would walk up to his food bowl and wait for me to sing to him before he would start eating. 💔I miss him so much.
Dang. I sang that as a child and my family laughed. It hurt, so I have not sung to anyone. Music is such a wonderful thing. Hearing GOOD music calms those who need it, bolsters those with weakened resolve. Music makes the world go round. Home Free members have the gift and they use it in such loving ways. I for one am thankful that I am alive while they preform for others.
I sang this to my daughter while I was expecting her. When she was born early and was in the NICU I sang this to her daily multiple times. She is 27 and married but ever so often I will start singing it and she will come hug me singing with me hugging me the whole time.
There's another verse to this: You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, (etc..) If you leave me to love another, we'll both regret it all one day. That verse is meant to remind us to be Faithful in all of our relationships.
As i sit here with tears falling, I sung this to my 4 grandsons when they were babies and toddlers. They are all autistic but doing good. My gran sung it to us when we were small. Thank you Austin. I do pray that Kristi is doing well. ❤

@AustinBrown n that was so very beautiful ❤. I had a beautiful German Shepard that was my best friend and fur baby..I used to sing that to him. Someone fed him something that made him very sick...thank you for that song. Last time I sang it was when he was passing.
