He actually explained why he does the squat jerk over the split and it has to do with his body structure. His front leg didn't go far enough forward so he was very unstable. Realising that this wasn't possible to fix due to his hip structure or something him and his coach decided to train the squat jerk for greater efficiency.
Dude its obvious look at his squat form, his femur bone is so fucking short. Its probably more efficient for him to squat jerk than to power jerk which is crazy actually
@Ryan Sun Hey Ryan thanks for your reply. I didn't think of it being perceived like this but I understand why it would be. It was honestly meant more to be a compliment because Lu Bu was the strongest character in the game. Apologies if I offended you.
well i'm also chinese and i found this pretty funny, they even have the same last name haha. And Lu Bu is from Three Kingdoms, but I understand that you were first exposed to Three Kingdoms from dynasty warriors。 to ryan sun, 哥们放轻松点,外国人对我们文化有一丝兴趣都是好事
I hear what you're saying, but I'd rather just carry my gold anta shoes around squat jerking 60kg at Ma Strength camps where I get to use a bathroom Lu may or may not have once pissed in. Sorry Zack, I'd rather just pretend to be Chinese.
to be an olympian: have exactly the right combination of freak genetics for 1 specific event -> get noticed when you're like 3 years old -> devote entire existence to that event -> pray you don't get injured. it's not really still in the original amateur spirit is it
Not at all. for example, you probably don't know that LU was a 200m runner before. He started weightlifting in middle school when he was already 13 years old. At that time, he joined a municipal 200m competition but only ranked 6. A weightlifting coach approached him and asked him if he would like to train weightlift with him.
It's not that extreme. I recently saw a video about top tier boxers who actually got into the sport very late (guys were in their 20s) and still became very successful.
@@Erulilum Of course he wouldn’t be world class, but to claim that he couldn’t do anything without PEDs is just ignorant. The man has some of the best genetics and training the world has to offer.
@@tn684 and has access to the best PEDs. World competitions are more than just tests of sport. It's countries measuring their dicks. I'm not saying he wouldn't be able to anything with PEDs but he wouldn't be able to compete at the level that he is. They're all doping.
hey I've watched a few of your videos now, and noticed one thing. You're not saying your way is the best way, you almost always tell people to look for credited coaches, and the best best best best thing i always see from you is just improve, dont worry what you can do compared to the like of Lu do the best for you. Mad respect. And thanks for adding some more range to what I know in the field.
Train, go to a gym, crossfit, bodybuilding, calisthenics, powerlifting, olympic weighlifting, anything to make you start. But DO start, you have a creative mind, now discipline your body. Be yours.
I come back to this every few months to remind myself that it takes a long time to become good at something even as simple as lifting heavy weights and putting them back down
You're the only one American coach who says realistic things. The only one who encourage people to do the right things. By the way, Keep doing what you're doing mate! Cheers!
0:45 Funny how Klokov is the king of youtube weightlifting and Lu is the prince, while Lu is a million times more successful than Klokov in competitions
And the unfortunate reason for that is a single word: aesthetics. RU-vid audience don't give a damn Lu is more acomplished as a sportsman, all they care is aesthetics so, Klokov takes the title.
@@philippedossantos3884 Not really no, most people would consider Lu more aesthetic. What Klokov has is a presence on youtube and an interesting personality. He has done many seminars around the world and even speaks English, he is more relatable.
Something I heard Lu say in an intervew is that he doesn't even really train the jerk before competitions, and only really does heavy back squats. And the reason he gave was that the jerk is so utterly dialed in he doesn't need to practice it he just needs to build his strength back up to perform it
I recently watched a video where Ly was asked why does he squat jerk. The answer is what you predicted. The split jerk was not working on him. They tried to correct his front foot but the efforts were too much compared to his progress. Besides his composition complicated more this aspect. But they realized that his legs and lower back are very strong. He was built to be a squat jerker.
I’m fairly new to weightlifting and I’ve watched countless footage of Lu without even knowing how to do basic movements. Fast forward 6 months later I do the very same squat jerk as him and feel comfortable in that position all day vs the split jerk. I guess it just comes down to what you’re more exposed to and what fits your bodies mobility and strengths. I was a former wrestler in high school. All those years of a squat stance just feels at home to me. I’d love to improve on the split jerk position but it’ll take time. I’m curious to know if others who’ve come from other sports background have awkward and comfortable positioning like myself in Olympic lifts. Thx!
@@kimjong-un8543 I got myself a coach and now snatch 93kg and clean & jerk 115kg. Split jerker now. It took me a while to learn but it’s what I’m sticking to now. Bw is sitting comfortably at 66/67 give or take
