i will be 79 in 2 weeks. It will not be alive to accrue the benefits of putting solar on my house at this time in my life. But my house is ideally located to put solar panels on it. I am someone who invests in "companies of the future". I own stock in a variety of such companies some of which are "green energy companies" and some of which include solar, wind, wave, various batteries technologies, EVs, EVTOLs, etc. I love that your advice confirms my thinking. The stocks that I buy are for the purpose to be inherited by my children and grandchildren. If I were 20 years younger I would be putting up solar on my house right now. BTW, I only invest what I can afford to lose. At this point, I invest using only the HOUSE'S money(dividends) at the Wall Street Casino.
If you can afford it then why not do the right thing? You are forgetting that it's not only about money it's about helping to protect the planet. And anyway when you install solar on your roof it increases the value of your home so your kids or grandkids will benefit monetarily also. I'm a boomer too and that's why I'm putting it up. I've also made my house gas free by installing a heat pump. It feels good knowing my little corner of the earth is helping out.
The first step to successful investment is figuring your goals and risk tolerance either on your own or with the help of a financial professional but it's very advisable you make use of professional
In oregon i believe the utility HAS to buy some of the power generated by independent solar. There is a cap of 25kw. It doesnt matter if there is demand for it.
Can we only access Autobidder if we have Tesla Powerwalls? You are promoting Anker batteries, can we use Autobidder with them? I am researching to add home batteries to my existing solar panels, but Powerwalls are expensive. What works?
You guys are good. But just look at geothermal energy Vs solar. Very little development so far, most of which outperformed expectations. Could Solar/ PV be replaced by microwave/conventional combined drilling making energy avsilable everywhere.? Just a thought. Just a thought.
Will here's the deal. The govt is mandating that electric utilities update, fortify, and expand their grid capacity. The utilities by law must do this to maintain their monopolies. However guess who pays for this? You do, plus more because of course they mark it up. Therefore staying connected to the grid in order to sell power back may be a mistake. If you can I would try to get completely off. In a perfect world the govt would realize that the best use of money would be to almost give away solar and battery installs to homeowners. Also ensure installers get govt backed low interest loans so they can move faster as banks are not reimbursing installers on jobs fast enough making many collapse. Distributing power generation and storage like this would vastly reduce the load needed on the grid.... there might be no need to upgrade or expand it much. However then the utilities couldn't make a bunch off you.... so that probably is why this won't happen.
Home solar costs more per kwh than utility scale solar. It's cheaper, more efficient and more friendly to the environment to build giant solar arrays in the desert and ship the power to people who need it. Also panels need to be cleaned which is much harder and more dangerous on rooves. Tesla's solar roof is a complete fail because customising the solar for each house is complicated, expensive and difficult. Just building big arrays in the desert makes much more sense, especially if they can be close to things like datacenters and smelters which need a huge amount of power.
But, Sodium ion battery can be far cheeper than Lithium ion battery. And energy density doesn't matter for Stationary storage. But why do Tesla uses Lithium ion battery for Home storage and Megapacks ?
Someone has to pay for the maintenance of the grid. Too many residential solar and batteries on the grid will increase electricity costs for those who can’t have solar or battery (poor people, apartments, renters, etc.)
Too many houses have too many trees for all to get it....and the dumb 15 dormer designs of late are killing good solar real estate on roofs. However, a ton of homes look great for it and should get it sooner than later.
As soon as you pay for wind, solar, battery ect, they cost 100% to replace because they fail. I can go to the junk yard and get a low milage LS motor for $500.
The grid operators will continue to move the goalposts until VPP doesn't make financial sense just like net metering in CA. Stop playing games with these people and take your house off grid. My home has had its main disconnect shut off to PG&E for the last 5 years with self hung solar and 66KWh of salvaged S/X Modules.
Utilities & Transmission Lines have been HIGHLY SUBSIZED in Billions...more like Trillions by Taxpayer thru Grants, low interest loans, tax credits, etc. & recently Inflation Reduction Act 👀🧐 Get FREE🌅🗽 or pay the FEE!
@@solartime8983 is that adjusting for inflation, and including money the government might have spent for surveying for minerals on public lands? I mean wars cost us trillions. This seems a lot less expensive than wars which are very wasteful.
