The Philippines would try the patience of saints. Almost everything is done in a slip shod, half *ssed, irrational manner. Before you do anything think of what could go wrong because it probably will.
I’ve lived on and off for 11 years now in the Philippines, and if you don’t have patience you’ll never make over here. Just go with the flow and enjoy the pinoy style of life.
@@user-ji6hc7qx6w I will admit the last trip to Manila…my patience’s was tested by the end. I was ready. Last night I was there 2 security guard decided to demand money from me…armed. Out numbered I paid the “fine”…obviously I knew it was BS, I knew they were not cops…I knew I was being taken for a ride and I still complied. Why because I wasn’t home…it’s not home. Take that for what it’s worth. Add the bull with the good…if you are in a negative by the end…either decide to try again or learn. You are not going to change it.
Amen, brother. You have to have a lot of patience. Brown outs, traffic, and slow moving grocery lines. If you don't have patience, stay away. But I love it here. Great people and cheap rent. And better than the USA right now.
I know what you mean, Brent. In January I was in Dumaguete and I had to fly up to Manila to get my international flight back to the States. I arrived in the Dumaguete airport 36 hours before my flight was to depart Manila. Both airlines in Dumaguete had no flight, zero, that would get me to Manila on time. I practically had a stroke thinking I would miss my flight, loss my 750 dollar plane ticket and overstay my Visa. And I couldn't book reservation before hand. Neither my hotel room nor the hotel front desk had a landline phone. I should have asked to desk attendant in my hotel if I could use his phone to book a flight reservation; but, from the way I was treated, I don't think he would have been amenable to that. So the airline agents put me on a long, 10 hour motorcycle, trike, bus, ferry to Cebu, another bus to Cebu City. Where I got a intrastate flight to Manila. It was a f*cking nightmare. I wan't even sure I'd get to Manila in time to make my international flight out. Talk about a Third World country.
I am not sure when this exactly began but it is happening now: Massive Technical Computer Glitch Causes Global Disruption of Airlines, Banks, Businesses
Didnt you think typhoon season now in the Philippines and theres two active l.p.a in western and eastern seaboard, weather is unpredictable delayed or cancellation of flight is inevitable! flight safety is main concern and not that bullshit patience!!
While it is a true statement "You better have patience in the Philippines", It is the responsibility of the user to check the notifications that are sent. Their fault the flight is canceled/delayed, your fault that it got worse.
So, my age appropriate wife is from Cebu. Monday afternoon I had a heart attack. Call to 9-1-1 had an ambulance at my house in 4 minutes. From house to E.R. was 5 minutes. Straight into room at E.R. and doc was there in under 3 minutes. Next 1.5 hours was multiple enzyme tests looking for the heart attack indicator.I was in substantial pain and refused morphine until we were all in agreement that I would be admitted and treated for the heart attack.Once number was hit it all lined out: admission, morohine, blood thinners, the heart cath next morning. Clots removed and I was released Wednesday at noon. Wife talking to her family in the Philippines and they were in shock that everything went so quickly here. In the Philippines you're looking at weeks unless you go 100% private healthcare and have very deep pockets. That is IF you make to a hospital in one of the larger cities. If at a resort town or in the provence you won't make it (by my wifes and her family opinion).
Damn.. glad everything went smoothly! Glad you're ok! I've had to go to hospital a couple times here.. it was smooth for me as well.. but only after my credit card was approved for deposit and my Filipina flashed 20k php (400usd).. lol cash is king here. Stay safe, be well, and have a speedy recovery!
It’s not just delay, no money means no care…you will literally die on the street. That’s a reality….Private Hospital is the only way…Makati Med and St Jude’s if you are in the Manila area. Literally take the trip even if you are an hour or two away. The difference in care is extreme…
Initially a bit of a spanner in the works , but they tried to make amends and got you where you needed to be, although quite a bit later. Hsmg in there pal.
Early Friday, a global IT outage caused by an issue with cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike disrupted flights, banks, retailers, stock exchanges, 911 call centers, and media outlets. Experts say this could be one of the largest IT outages in modern history.
I think the PI would actually be good for my blood pressure to try to soak up how easy going the culture is about time. I remember visiting Hawaii and talking to city bus driver. She said,”you people from mainland, you live very fast.” 😂 We Westerners need to learn how to chill the f-- out. 😊thx for the tip about travel planning and expectations 👍
At least they still take cash in the Philippines, wait until large western countries completely stop taking cash, with all the technical outages, cards will be worthless, that is the main reason i love the Philippines cash economy
It may sound nice having all these different Islands but the infrastructure and systems of getting around is expensive and chaos! That's one reason why the Phillippines is still a third-world country Transportation and mail service sucks.
They'll scam you every chance they get.. I'll never fly Philippines Airlines again.. Cebu Pacific is definitely better, but I had to change one of my flights AND they charged me more than the initial ticket.. so I paid twice for the same flight, but a different day. Sure, it's cheap compared to U.S. prices, but damn it's expensive in php.. no wonder not many Filipinos travel.
@@se_amable001 I know they do.. I live here.. I'm talking about using the airlines.. just saying it can be a hassle from a foreigner/westerner perspective.. I met my Filipina in Kuwait lol
@@SurRonAlot you said "not many Filipinos travel", which isnt true. If you tour around the PH alone, there's an abundance of LOCAL tourists, not just foreign. Yes is expensive, but Filipinos can still afford to travel. That's my point. and FYI, I always fly PAL. I love PAL's services.
