“I’m not very good at knowing where 85 or 90 percent is, I only know where 0 and 100 is” No other bodybuilder influenced the way I train more than this man.
that quote is actually from Mike Mentzer. He said that to people to make them understand that giving a 100% effort is the only metric they can hit without a doubt
This man is a absolute beast “what do you mean celebrate, I knew I was going to win” that is a incredible quote from a man who knows nothing is given it’s earned. Love the channel keep up the great work and stay safe in 2021
As A Boy Ronnie was my Hero... Now that I am a Man, with access to all this behind the scenes knowledge, I have come to realize Dorian was really The GOAT...
@@tyroneshoelaces9742 lol he did what he did to win and now hes old and living a good life and inspired many people and then there's u lmfaoo lazy fucker
Best part is when he talks about that the rest is living life with bitches and beach. But he was in his basement gym training like a lone wolf. Damn boy 🔥🔥🔥
I just love listening to Dorian talk. Hearing his mind set and thought process. Favorite quote: "here I am walking through 3 feet of snow to work out while these guys are driving around California in their convertibles; I just thought they're gonna pay for that!" That's what it takes. Dedication to the max!
Same, when he says " they're there in California driving their porshes and Ferraris out in the sun and I'm here trudging through the snow, and they are gonna pay for that" gives me chills
Before the remodel of Temple Gym, there was NO TOILET, as it was an old basement dungeon literally, converted to a gym. You went thru a hole in the wall to an unfinished portion and did your business there. It was one of the most vile experiences of my life.
Dorian Yates videos have been out here for so long, yet MAKAVELI always finds a way to make them motivational as if we watch them for the very first time
@TheLusianPopa Not too many bodybuilders had back striations in the off-season like dorian, if any! Dorian at 6weeks out 269lbs with the size/fullness and let's say the conditioning of 92/96GGP, doesn't even bear thinking about! Could easily have competed at 280, I'd have to agree! He set the bar so high back then interms of mass/conditioning, that over two decades later, it STILL hasn't been matched! Ronnie took the size game to another level, but ronnie himself and others haven't come remotely close to dorians conditioning (at dorians size/weight) ronnie was the closest in 98! Harder than granite, dryer than a desert, grainier than sandpaper and denser than a rock!!
@TheLusianPopa Yeah it's pretty insane, contradictory goals as yates puts it! Back then conditioning was key for all of them, dorian just took it the the extremes that people even back then just weren't willing to go to. Yes I remember the 01 olympia, I always compared that version of ronnie to dorian 96ggp, just because of the similar weights, but the difference in conditioning, yet again was monumental! I feel the magazines were actually better quality for dorian than most of the video footage kicking about! I have an old Robert Kennedy musclemag jan-feb issue 1995, and the picture quality of dorian, dillet, levrone ect.. is brilliant! So much more up close and personal shots that are captured! Lusian, what are your thoughts on the reasoning for ronnie deciding to add 40lbs from 02 to 03? I mean the 01 arnold he was also arguably at his best (minus the gut) and ronnie himself said 98 was his best, so he basically tried to come in light and ripped, but ended up looking so flat and undersized in 02, why go the opposite direction when all he needed to do was a few minor adjustments, and probably get back to 98/99 version easily!
Damn this was good! The clip where platz talks about offering him 250k a year and Dorian was so hungry but still turned him down because he really believed he could be mr Olympia.... that particular part gives me chills !
@@polyfoxgames9006 no, he had dicipline, that simple, he wanted to be the best, nobody in the world is ever motivated enough to accomplish such a task, to accomplish such a task motivation will only carry you so far, Dorian had real dicipline something that lacks in many people
The shadow! I think he was such a pivotal part of bodybuilding for many reasons. He created the mass monster and set the bar for what the body could do!
I love how all the old school legends have a back story of struggle or some kind of major obstacles I front of them and they dominate.that’s what lacks in bodybuilding today.
Dorian is without question one of the greatest athletes the United Kingdom has ever produced yet very few people in the public would even know his name but something tells me that it wouldn't bother him. I guess all the Sandow's make up for it. Doz was the boss
What a unique beast he didn’t have the best genetics Yates admitted that he simply out worked his competition he was a mans man did what needed to be done he didn’t have the best gym he knew that and still made it worked me hearing this my god cause I believed America was the place to be for bodybuilders Dorian Yates proved that wrong he was the shadow he showed up he conquered and went, all the bodybuilding community was buzzing who the hell is this guy and having the crowd chanting Dorian
@@Jamie-hk7kl Dorian for sure has the 0.1% genetics but we aren't comparing him to ordinary people, we are comparing him to other top bodybuilders, other legends of the sport. When you put Dorian next to Shawn Ray, Kevin Levrone, Flex Wheeler, Ronnie, Paul Dillet (top 6 in the 90s) you'd realize pretty quickly that Dorian is the most set back by his genetics.
@@dj_m19 I'm sorry but that's not how it works 😂 if your mr O it's not about out working anyone that's just dumb. It's about genetics. It's all genetics. Do you really think those other legends were not training till failure. Idk maybe you guys don't have good physiques and can't put tissue on. But failure is failure. We all train hard as fuck. There's absolutely a 0% chance those other legends are not training as hard as Dorian. If anything Dorian trained LESS hard than everyone else. He only trained body parts once per week because he over trained and couldn't recover properly. Dorian is a beast and he had the best mass monster genetics and OKAY muscle inserts. Sure his muslce insertions were not the best. But overall he had the best genetics and trained hard enough to max them out. I can't believe you guys think other people at the Olympia aren't putting in 100%. Please think about it logicslly.
Makeveli is second to none in motivation. Nice work and thanks. Countless people like me couldn't get the motivation we need when the energy is low and this channel certainly helps. It gets me there.
What made Dorian great in my opinion is that he still conquered everybody with his condition even after he injured his bicep. That is true heart and desire.
I love that the age of social media is bringing this man out to a younger crowd of bodybuilding fans, people understand this guy was a myth he burst on the scene won six got injured and was gone juat like that.
Yea, that back was such a mind blow. Just when you think it can't get much better, along comes Yates to blow the doors off. The black and white shots, all grainy and gritty, just mind blowing.
Dorian’s physique took bodybuilding to another level, FACT! But it was Dorian’s mental strength that forged that body, and what should be recognised alongside the physique. And that is where others could not compete with him. A true beast.
I love mr Yates his dedication to the sport without anyone's support and either family support he thought that fighting spirit and mindset can give you the success love you Dorian Yates from 🇮🇳
I Had The Privilege Of Seeing Mr Dorian Yates Many Years Ago At A Seminar In Chorley At Pascals Gym. What An Unbelievable Talk And An Inspiration. Cheers Mr Yates A Monumental Memory.
Dorian Yates set a whole new standard for bodybuilding. Straight up hardcore, underground training 👍. Hey Makaveli, can you do a eating motivation soon for 2021? The eating/nutrition videos of yours really help! Just curious as to what this year’s one is gonna look like if you do make one. As always, thank you!
These Dorian Yates videos are my favourite, I can't train without going intense and these vids always help get me there. Been watching this channel for a while now and every time you make it even better 💪🏼 looking forward to having this in my ears back in the gym after lockdown 👌🏼 Makaveli Motivation...you're the best.
A man I know here in Sydney said that he saw Dorian guest posing in the mid 90's. Till this day, he's yet to see a bigger, harder human in off-season shape than Dorian. He still shakes his head in disbelief when he thinks of that day when Dorian first walked out.
whenever I watched some of your videos you put some kind of music that touching inside and pushing to work hard. Great work keep making music and video combination
I gotta admit it's one of the most raw bodybuilders ever. Ronnie can have huge PR's but this man went to his basement to workout whole weeks to win Mr Olympia. A beast of a man and for sure, inspiration to start the gym seriously. 💪🏻💪🏻💯
Dorian and Ronnie out worked Flex. They both have said it in interviews. Even Shawn Ray said that flex hated dieting. Just goes to show hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.
@@panzerwaffen2873 relax, they were cool with each other. What you're seeing in the video is the stage competitiveness and that's ultimately what everyone wants. After the 1995 Mr. Olympia Dillet said: "I think I just saw Jesus Christ...and he looks like Dorian Yates" the one from the 90s era that should really be clowned is Nasser who was a two-faced rat, smiling in your face and then stabbing you in the back as soon as you turn around.
you did a wonderful job with the tom Platz voice. I like your videos and I made comments on almost every video when I started to watch your channel. You are doing great work motivating people. Thank you
