Jes (Sam’s partner) and I always had the idea to do a video on Sam and his love of surfing. A few months ago we visited them for the weekend and I followed Sam around for a couple of days.
This was my first time shooting surf as a subject and I loved it. Super happy with the visuals I got to capture and it was awesome to learn a bit more about someone we have known for 10 years.

This was mesmerizing! As a surfer myself, who struggles to balance "life" with the desire to be able to surf good waves, the end hit me like a ton of bricks. It's true. You can't buy waves...

Inspiring video. I discovered surfing a couple years ago (34 years old now) and I can’t get enough. I drive 5 hours round trip every weekend to surf and continue to battle with the idea of selling the house and making the move to somewhere closer to the ocean.

Trust me when I say this, you're an absolute genius when it comes to story telling, cinematography, color grading, sound design, you know I could just go on and on. I just wanted to tell you that I am so soo grateful to have landed on your channel last month, I'm 22 and I really wanted to get into film making but I didn't know how to get started or even whom to look upto, someone who could guide me and show me the different aspects of this art form, but now I can proudly say that I've been learning from one of the finest! Ahh yes probably my favourite thing you have shot to date man! Bloody beautiful. I guess I am a little biased though as I am also a surfer :). The shots inside the car were stunning especially the ones with the rainy windows and driving at sunset/sunrise. Loved that higher up shot of Sam riding that right hander in the morning light too...stuff of dreams. I also agree and relate to the shark sentiment but hey if you play the game you gotta be willing to pay the price! Bravo!
