Penny Pinching Mama Part 22: You CAN’T Climb Mount Everest - So Don't Try

Its 2022 and I am listening to this series again...it is lifting me up like it did the first time. I have chronic pain and am almost homebound, but I love the Lord and trusting Him to keep me going.😊. I'm a 76 year old great grandma and know that each day is a gift.

No one wants to look like what they are going through. If you try to put your best foot forward and push yourself to do what you have to do in spite of how you feel then people think you are over exaggerating. When I'm stressed I watch your videos because you put the pressures of life into perspective and get back to the simple things that really matter in life.

I stumbled upon this series. I clicked on it because of the CFS. After getting a call back from my doctors nurse after being tested for RA, lupus and blood work coming back normal I asked for suggestions on the fatigue. A call back a couple days later I got an answer of 1-see a therapist to deal with CFS, 2-see a trainer that understands CFS, 3-take pain meds before bedtime. I'm praying that I will be myself again one day and I'm misdiagnosed if this is what they call a diagnosis. I will continue to look back at your videos for more information. Thank you for sharin', appreciate it. :)

I thoroughly enjoyed all of your PENNY PINCHING SERIES but this one really spoke to me because I am just now learning to be content in my illness (CFS & Fibro). I have fought it for so long thinking that I was worthless because I couldn't do what others could. It's taken me almost 2 years to get to this point. So thank you Jill & Tawra!!! Also, I totally agree with you on the feminist issue. 99 % of the people are never going to climb Mt.Everest, or become an Astronaut, or a physicist. Those who are, are extraordinarily gifted. To tell young women that they can all climb Mt. Everest does set them up for failure. Not only that, but what ever happened to women wanting to be wives, homemakers and Mothers. To me, this is the noblest of all callings. One last thing...Mike you are such a gentle soul and such a Godly man. You should create video's extolling the virtues of being a Godly man and teaching us all how to interact and reach out as we should. Love you all!!!!

I just hope you know how many people that you are helping by telling your stories!!! We have to be overcomers, and that's only possible in God!!! God bless!!!

Jill ty for the story I Job because I needed that reminder. I have often thought why did God let me go through a major stroke and as soon as I was getting my life back after several years then I had a heart attack in the widow maker and then 6 months after that my husband of 27 years left because of a drug problem then I lost my home about 8 months later. They thing I see now is I lived through a major stroke that docs says I should be dead or a vegetable from but have no side effects from it except for some mental issues thinking if I get tired or stressed. My heart attack I lived through which is a miracle also. My husband is gone from me and has spent some jail time but last I heard he's sober and trying to rebuild his life. My home is gone but I still have a roof over my head in low income housing and next week it's sounds like I have a part time job doing the very thing God gifted me to do . Even though I was asking God why I needed to rehear the story of Job because truly I'm blessed beyond measure and looking back I can see how God has taken care of me all through this mess but I gotta say it never shook my faith in him because I'm here to tell the story,

K Crepeau-May be worth getting your B12 checked, even if you take that vitamin, some, like me cannot absorb it and need to take B12 shots, so that it goes directly into the bloodstream, rather than through the digestive system. Might not be it, but easy to test for, and simple to control. That is assuming you have a decent doctor, that I didn't and it took years of struggles before I could get the shots...

Thank you for sharing this, Jill! I agree 100%! Sadly a number of my family have mutated MTHFR genes & so I have CFS/ME along with my brother, my middle son, my Dad & we've also worked out that his Dad & grandfather almost certainly had it too. Likewise, God told me clearly to "embrace" my illness & "accept" that I need to rest & care for my body! It meant I stopped fighting to get well & stopped spending $1,000s of dollars on all sorts of treatments that were exhausting me & making me sicker!! 🥰 Blessings from South Australia💕🐨

I feel very emotional after watching this video. I have a mental illness which I have dealt with for almost 50 years and got worse when I had a mental breakdown almost 14 years ago and got even worse when I began to remember the abuse I suffered when I was a child. Out of survival, I buried it. I have had times where I have asked, "what did I do that was so bad that I have to go through this?" I got no answer. I struggle mentally every day to get through the day. I struggle with being alone, when my husband goes to work because I equate it with when I was little my dad would go to work and leave me with my mother who abused me. I struggle with doing housework, but with God's help, I am able to do some housework and to get dinner ready. My motto is: Do life with God. If it were not for God I would not be alive, I was suicidal for many years, and I would not be able to do housewife things. Jill, thank you for what you said about climbing Mt. Everest. I have struggled for almost 13 years of not being able to work. I feel bad that I can't do what others can do. I do my best, but continually tell myself that it is not good enough. I have gotten caught up with what the world calls success. I will pray that God will help me with this. I love you all. Hugs,

People are so judgmental and critical of people on YT. I don't think it will ever click with some people about what you said about showing only what we choose to show our viewers. They take the little pieces from our videos and put together their own theories of who we are on a personal level. Where is the logic in this? Its easier sometimes to just not respond to those comments that post their opinions. I've tried and they just want to argue with me.

People think if they don't know something, it's not worth knowing. I was predisposed to falling ill. We ALL are who have this. I've tried everything, too, many things making me worse. But, those people who love to treat us as not really ill, it being all in our heads, yet on occasion seeing us so ill, me even in hospital, while telling us how sorry they are for other people with "real" illnesses, are just plain toxic. Get away from them! Family ignoring, gossiping lies, knowing you can't confront them being so ill, telling me to take up jogging to get well, then saying they know mentally ill loners i will fit in with on dates. Dates??!! Friends the same. Stepping on me when i can't fight back!! Churches telling me I'm not believing or praying enough, or it's a demon or sin...these people are so incredibly judgemental and wrong on every level. Family ignoring, yet my son was born 2 years after i fell ill and also very ill. We being called hypochondriac, amongst other horrible labels, yet tests telling a different story, but still they ignore how ill you are!! I always say, to loose everything, except my son, who kept me fighting on each day; my home, my well paid work, a divorce after severe physical and mental abuse after falling ill, chasing me in court for 6 full years, my health, if i was choosing to live very ill and very poor, then i am mentally ill. But the scoffers scoff. Jill, exactly the same thing happened to me years ago. It's okay for me to be sick, and i'm still loved. People in general never gave me that. On top of being ill, they attacked and pressured me. Well, God loved me and accepted me as i am. I found God's true love in my sickness. We are strong people who go through these things. We have to fight. Those who downgrade us could never cope with our issues. Our spirit is strong! I love you guy's, and appreciate your lives and work. You help me to feel less "alone" (not lonley per sa). I'm only new to you, but you help me in so many ways. And I'm loving my new hobby of making soap. I can barely afford it, but i have so many allergies, i need pure products, plus i'm arty, so always loved making things. We all need something to look forward to!!! I live a solitary life, because i get so ill and sick of people getting offended by it. Plus they bring their viruses knowing they make me very ill for a long time. Not many people understand. And not many people want to know sick people, unless they are getting something out of it. So, the peace of just being ill is my preferance after a very busy life doing all sorts for everyone else from very a young age. I love my garden, my peace. And I've accepted myself as i am, ignoring the gossip-mongerers who actually do that, because they are covering up for their own behaviour toward an ill person. Too often i've found myself in a blossoming friendship where that person had a need from me that had they told me, I'd have run a mile. So, finding good friends isn't easy. The energy isn't there. So, i get on with my own life, involved with people on a lighter level, only. It suits my health that way. And i can't stand the competition between ill people often - who's more ill, i mean. Haha. I use mirth, always have, in life, laughing at myself and "the games people play". I gave up caring about people's attitudes and words (and gossip) a good while ago. Their behaviour destroys peace and forgiveness in life, because it's endless from them. So, steer clear of the worst, and limit the rest of those types. It's okay to protect yourself. And use your reduced energy on things that matter, that even make a difference in the lives of other's. Which is what you guy's do. I do my bit, too. Thank you, sorry so long, but wanted to thank you and say i know exactly where you are coming from. Really enjoying your work!!

According to the CDC website and I quote: "Symptoms of myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) may appear similar to many other illnesses and there is no test to confirm ME/CFS. This makes ME/CFS difficult to diagnose. The illness can be unpredictable. Symptoms may come and go, or there may be changes in how bad they are over time." Web link: www.cdc.gov/me-cfs/symptoms-diagnosis/index.html This has been my experience with ME/CFS. I think some people might get the idea that everyone with ME/CFS will have the same experience as your family.

Jill, you see Job the way that I have always seen it. When God said to Satan, "have you considered my servant Job that there is none like him in all the earth, one who fears God and turns from evil." And then God gives Satan permission to test Job. I believe that when we have our greatest tests and struggles that God is saying to Satan, No matter what you do to this child of mine she will not turn from me, she will stay faithful. And that gives me the courage and the strength to endure the worst of my struggles. I really appreciate that you are not embarrassed or afraid to speak up for the our God who is always is there to pick us up when we fall and give us light to see how to take the next step. I too have a chronic illness and it has been such a struggle daily. I feel like I let people down who need me. I feel like I let God down because I don't have the strength to help others as I want to. You reminded me tonight that God understands and I can be sick. It's ok. Thank you Tawra, Mike and Jill and all the family for your shows. You are reaching so many for good.

Jill, I had to laugh when you were watching the ladies talking on TV. You have already done everything, but climb Mount Everest. The things you have achieved and accomplished in your life, put a lot of people to shame. And not mention all the problems you solved. Your reason for all you have done was for survival. God gave you the tools you needed to do what you had to do in order to survive. You have been through a lot in your life and it has made you stronger. Thank God for taking care of you. The Lord provides what we need, not what we what. He even gave you and Twara the gumption to figure out how to manage the disease as well as possible. The sense to know your limitations. Praise the Lord.

I have mixed connective tissue disease and am bipolar.I downgraded to a 2 room apartment so it would be easier for me to keep clean,since I live alone and have no help.Some days even that is too much.I also use my crock pot a LOT.Throw boneless meat in there and put on some sauce,turn on and in a few hours...dinner.It has been a lifesaver.

Thank you both for bringing up,about living with an autimmune disease. What you discribe of your daily lives,is almost identical to my own. Finally someone is open and honest about life really is. The fincial side of my situation is not what I have to worry about as Israel provide 100% cover of the exspenses. But what I struggle with everyday is the aloness,partly becausemI cannot make any comming together,because most of the time I have to cancel so friends and others have mostly given up. But because of you all,I fell less alone.,also because you communicate with us " monkeys in your circus" as you Tawra sometimes call us... Last but not leastnthank you all for making us laugh Because of you I feel not so alone anymore.

I have had Hashimoto’s disease for over 18 years. There’s been a lot of things that I’ve done to manage it and mitigate some of the symptoms but I will never fully cure it. But like you, I get tons of suggestions crap to try. And i used to think they meant well but now I don’t. They just want to be right. And after 18 years, I’m starting to find their unwelcomed cure suggestions to be more rude than helpful. Prayers for you and all those who suffer from auto immunize disorders.

How does Jill handle driving to visit you all? Like how does she prepare for the long trip?
@jillcooper172
@jillcooper172 6 лет назад
It is hard for me to make the trip. That is why I can only do it twice a yr. If I felt good (and to my kids dismay) i would go once a month. :) Even though the trip to Tawra's is long it is an easy trip. Going across I70 through KS is easy - no mountains, big towns , heavy traffic, nothing so it is almost a relaxing trip. That is why I didn't go with Tawra and Elly on their trip because that would have been too much for me. As far as preparing I start 3-4 wks ahead of time even packing the car a week before I leave to pace myself.

Tawra.... have you tried the prescription for migraines called Phenergan ~ it’s a suppository that kills the upset stomach AND the migraine. I had horrid migraines after childbirth, going thru bad divorce etc - couldn’t keep the pain meds down because of the sick stomach and this prescription worked on both.

Love this series! VERY inspiring! On a side note, I was wondering if you have any side effects to using the alka seltzer so much? And Tawra, you had mentioned a while back that you were going to see if the miranga was any benefit to you. Have you tried it yet? Thinking about getting some for my sister to try. (no, she does not have CFS or RA)

The miranga didn't help me and no no side effect from the Alka Seltzer.

I just wanted to let you know about a funny coincidence. I'm going through "Red skin syndrome", (topical steroid withdrawel) at the moment, it's a really nasty condition you can get after using steroid ointments for eczema. Your body can become addicted and when you stop using it you get horrible symptoms and what looks like the worst case of eczema ever, there are videos about it on youtube if anyone is interested. It's like detoxing from steroids, you get sores. wet oozing lesions, swelling, itchy patches, it lasts for months. SO, last night I was looking at my leg which had sores on it and listening to your video at the same time, when Jill said something about Job "scraping his sores" and I thought "that's exactly what I'm doing right now.." lol I do feel like Job sometimes with this condition, it's been going on since last April. Anyway, I thought it was amusing, maybe it was a message from God.

when we were young our folks sent us to the methodist church to be rid of us i ave a story too but we would go and no one would have anything to do with us it was hard it was because our parents didn't come we were not wanted and it was a very long walk i asked if it don'st matter why don't i go to the church on the corner it was called callvary alliance and my eyes were opened there the minister at the time was getting bigger and bigger cars i looked around the walls were cracking and things falling apart then he was caught in his car with secretary in not a good way the next one came in again not really part of it as parents didn't come so they had a daughter my age they had a contest to see how many friends we could bring one girl called her friend who was the youth leader and invited all the kids well the ministers daughter called all the churches so she got the one girls friends counted and of course she won the prize this was so wrong in my eyes the preacher wife would sit there and with her daughter she would point out all of us others and why she did not want her to turn out like us..so this stopped me going at aii i was a young teen by then but i was building a list from these experiences my list...i needed to find a church that everyone was welcomed, one that the clergy was not paid, and no one was better then another. and people were treated fairly, my mom another story was having the last set of twins in the hospital, when a neighbor a mrs wells brought a casserole over i asked my dad if we had to pay for it i had never seen my mom do any thing kind to anyone she is very evil she would spit in peoples faces if the walked in front of her path she was addicted to narcotics and a selfish evil lady so was the step dad we were abused and badly treated they got extra money by having her sleep with rich people she was town whore it gets way worse but i digress suffice it to say i am the ugly duckling so back to my list i thought her bring this meal was the kindness thing i ever saw. ever saw...so i added to my list people must take casseroles yrs went by i married my high school sweet heart he was going in to the service so we had to move to Texas for training we met a couple that we did things with we stopped by a ladies house she was making casserole to take to a lady who was sick my ears perked up in the course i found out their clergy wasn't paid as time went this church The Church of Jesus of Latter day Saints had every one of my checkpoints we joined it and have been a member ever since it is world wide has missionaries it has home teachers who are assigned families to watch over and help when it is needed and visiting teachers who watch over each other and be oh help i love this church treat all fairly and don't ignore kids who come alone and no shunning i don't know what your dad did but we have seen people do bad they don't for sake any part of the family. That is how we have been members for 38 yrs. as far as you are saying about family still treating bad here is my take it is very close to your take Heavenly Father wants us to forgive them but does not want you to keep getting abused a head dr friend said some times it is ok to get a parentectamy. if i would have been a drug taker slash dealer or a prostitute and stole everything they would have taken us in to the family group but i nor my sis Terri would be so we were out casts when company would come i had to go upstairs ugly duckling i called to check on her one time she was nasty that i was using her time more important then me i guess so i hung up and vowed i wasn't going to call she could call me well it has been thirty yrs no call. So i honor my parents by being the best me i can be i pray for them it hurt not having a good mom and dad so i decided i would be the kind of mom to my kids that i would have wanted for me and we are a wonderfully close family my little unit just a dusting of my story much more horrific i am the total opposite of my mom and that was my goal.

The human body is wonderfully made psalms 139. However, the family was living in a condemned house and under constant stress. But the family fed their spiritual hunger and as Hebrews 13:4,5 brings out Jehovah did not forsake them or leave them. Remember Jesus said Jehovah takes care of the birds how much more would he take care of humans, his creations.
