I feel like this is gonna be huge once people hear about it on a wide scale. I’m thinking like literally every cake decorator is going to need one of these things.
This is amazing. I have heard about and actually seen many universities and groups trying to perfect this and Ellie and her team seem to have the right mix of passion, engineering, material science, and funding to get the perfect chocolate and food printer out and available. Congrats to Ellie and the whole Cocopress team! You have a real winner here. Get ready to scale!
I love this statement on their site "Cocoa Press makes it easy to use without any previous knowledge of chocolate." That is so great to know. I just discovered chocolate. So, I'm a total noob.
Finally catching up with my viewing. Awesome. The amount of work Ellie has put into removing every unneeded part, and simplifying the design till she got her printer that just works. I can see a big market out there. ust as Unle Jessie and Joel himself has done, I can see people cutting up big prints and then gluing them together with melted chocolate to make massive, intricate statues of chocolate.
Awesome, somehow I think the chocolate industry just went, crap, why didn't we think of that? This is a novelty area of the market that has a huge scope.
This is awesome, I thought how awesome it would be of helping my sister with her Bakery, working on edible chocolate cake decorations, but unfortunately $1,400 it just a wee bit expensive.
Hi Joel!! Huge fan, just curious will you be reviewing the Creality K1 and K1 Max? My boss said he'll get me one as soon as its available so kinda excited 😂
So excited with the Cocoa Press launch. We're going to have a 3D printer in our kitchen-how cool is that?!! Ellie rocks. I can't want to see all the 3D printed chocolate in the future!
This could be HUGE for small businesses. $1500 isn’t even that expensive if we are talking business procurement… but selling small custom edible models of company logos for their events or even just basic shapes like hearts or Xmas trees for the holidays would easily make your money back.
For sure! I sold $2300 in 3D printed chocolate to just one client in December and January. I used two machines to make it, but there was a pretty high profit margin on the prints. People can definitely make their money back if they want to use it commercially
so awesome! Ellie has done a fantastic job with this! Couldn't believe at RMRRF how polished and well put together the machine looks ! Can't wait to see what people do with this machine! Well done!
Yes!! I am really proud of that actually. We also make sure the Cocoa Solids are sourced form individual farmers and are paid above average for their cocoa beans
Yeah, not a fan of the use of palm oil. While some palm oil is certified "sustainable" I am still sceptical of how much merit there is to those certifications.
Vase mode prints should work great with this. Chocolate tree ornaments for everyone! When Joel gets his, he should print the biggest Sierpinski pyramid he can.
I did that with hot chocolate bombs where I put marshmallows and edible glitter inside! Instead of printing it in two halves I just paused the print in the middle and then hit resume
One of these needs to make its way into the possession of Amaury Guichon even though he doesn’t need it to make masterpieces out of chocolate. It would be interesting to see what he does with it.
I saw a chocolate and candy 3d printer on the discovery channel at least ten years ago. I wonder if this is the same one and it just took this long. it seemed finished back then though. It looked the same.
ooh I wonder which one you saw! I am trying to think about printers older than mine and I can only think of one or two, but I haven't seen them on Discovery 🙂
That's because this isn't a new idea. It's been around for a long time, and there are a lot of products already on the market(likely that have used years of data and testing to become fully fleshed out) for 1/3 of the price(Mycusini) if you don't mind slightly smaller print volume. Then, of course, you have the fancier/larger products that can do more than just chocolate for more money.
Super cool! I've only just recently started following Ellie on Twitter but it's been long enough to see some of her iteration through the development process of this super cool product and I'm super proud of her for getting this thing to market.
At first i thought its a fun novelty. Then a friend pointed out so the tv shows of business that make themed cake and dessert. If i made wedding cakes etc this would be a huge thing to have
Ellie is amazing and seeing the finished unit at RMRRF was so cool. Great to see it's available for deposit and will be coming soon enough. I know I was walking around the show and saw Joel and Ellie post-interview, wrapping things up as David got b-roll of the setup.
@ZackFreedman ate one on camera! Not sure that footage went anywhere, but yeah 🙂. I had very few benchys since it was mostly a test as a giveaway for future events
@@ElianaRose lol, my partner and I are planning our wedding currently and I think convinced them we need one to make chocolate center pieces! Muwahahahahaha
For what it’s worth our compound chocolate is pretty darn good. You can use cocoa butter based chocolate too but you would have to make the cores yourself and it’s a bit more finicky to get to work
Yeah, yet how many billions of dollars does the chocolate industry bring in per year? Between Valetines Day, Mother's Day, anniversaries, Weddings, Gender reveals, Easter, Christmas and Halloween.
Considering Novelty is a hundred billion dollar a year industry soon to be a trillion, $1500 is a pretty reasonable ask to buy in and be able to offer truly unique novelty.
It's definitely not a novelty for bakeries, cake shops, etc. It's intended for professional use, and very focused users. Not for your average print person.
@@tenchuu007 I guess that depends on how you the term novelty. Novelty as in bakeries can make fun things to sell that in plain presentation would hardly get noticed.
@@tyler1988 yes, I know, and it hasn't exactly been high quality prints with actually good tasting chocolate. Everything I've seen had low quality, more oil than chocolate to make good quality prints. I'm glad the technology is developing and we are getting closer to printing good tasting chocolate candies/art.
Unfortunately there is way to much that can go wrong (here in Europe) but.. using this to send chocolate logo's of your company/business or something related to the product would be AMAZING customer service!
