My God, James Taylor's music was with me when I was selling christmas trees in 1968 and tens inchs of snow in upstate New York at 16 years old and Chris Stapleton's music is keeping us happy when I am 70 going on 71. Thank You !
I feel that song is more of an anthem of love and peace...which is what we were looking for back then. Now we are looking for patience and tolerance and hope we survive going to the mall.
I think the thing that makes Vince,James and Chris so very special is their talent plus their hearts: about as big as a heart can get. God love them,I surely do.
I don't know a thing about Vince Gill, but I recognize a pro when I see one, and that is someone who is secure enough in their own skill set to allow someone else to shine, and have no need whatsoever to overpower or out-do them, and that is what Mr. Gill's understated harmonies did here.
I've been to about 30 James Taylor shows always always always superb. Thank you James! Sometimes I was kind of far away but sometimes it was Iike I was sitting in your pocket. Like 2nd row Wang Center. I was at a Great Woods show once and there was some really bad weather coming in. We were under the roof but just by a few rows. It's the only time ever in my life when the promoter came or James did and told everyone on the lawn especially to go out to their cars and wait out the storm and be let back in when it passed We stayed where we were. A huge amount of water swept down the steps and really flooded the first couple rows but those people didn't budge JT and company proceeded to do a nice long show of all famous Rain songs. If anyone has a list I'd love to see it and or hear it again. Totally off the cuff Thanks James, Jeff Koman
I've seen JT 3 times and never was disappointed. The best version of this song was a duet with Carol King when they toured several years ago. It was so amazing, JT and Carol King, definitely one of the top 5 concerts of my lifetime...
Same! I just now listened to the 2010 version with Carole ... and wept like an idiot. So much love to our singer-songwriters, the minstrels of our times.
the movie was "Two Lane Blacktop", I watched it being filmed, saw the behind scenes stuff, he and Dennis Wilson, and Warren Oates, good memories. Love JT!
@@lindanealon7772 thanks, me and a friend, were extras standing on corner in the background but apparently our "acting" wasn't great, when we went to see the movie, we weren't in it. LOL.
I saw him in concert once and he was so entertaining. His voice and his guitar skills are great. He sounded just the same live as he does on his records.
I’ve never met the guy but I went to the same school he attended, knew the same teachers he knew, and was a landlord to him on a family property he rented from us in the 70s.
God he's amazing. James, if you read this, as great as your versions are, your sisters , on Sister Kate is the best version I've heard. I was just starting high school when that came out and I thought, what nerve, she's just riding his coat tails, no one as talented and handsome as JT could have any one else of any significance in his family. What did I know. I just love that album and your whole musical family.
I’ve seen JT twice, once with CAROLE KING and once by himself. It doesn’t get any better. He was on tour with JACKSON BROWNE when this virus cancelled everything. Not sure what the future holds for concerts. It will be awhile no doubt.
I've seen him twice and had tickets for the show this year with Jackson Browne. I've seen him once. The tour was rescheduled for next year. Unfortunately I was supposed to see him in Ft. Worth in March while living in Dallas. I moved to Washington State and now I'm stuck with the tickets. I was really looking forward to the show. But the venue won't refund the tix because it was rescheduled and not canceled. 😪
Great folksy songs ballads teling stories us great spiritual inspiration. Si gorgeous us the outdoorsy campfire natural songs. They are meditation contemplation and celebrate nature animals Mother Earth and sky is like a temple of the Most High spiritual Consiousness to me. My relatives all spent much time outdoors with animals listening to folksy roots songs and singing. We were always singing great sing along songs. I'm praying for collective Christ Consiousness awakening from the music poetry wisdom philosophy to reverse the evil in this world.
I so wish he would play that old Gibson guitar that he started out with and wrote his most recognizable songs. It was raw and sharp. This guitar is way too much top!!
The show was setup for each performer to sing their own songs. Vince was the host so felt comfortable jumping in a bit on a handful of songs but was being respectful at the same time. Nothing was rehearsed. It was a loose benefit concert.
Kelly McReo hey Kelly! Unfortunately this was a private event so there isn’t any other footage of it as far as I know. You can attend the All For The Hall future annual fundraisers though which are always an amazing group of singers. One is in Nashville annually and one in Los Angeles. Google All for the hall to get on their email list. This one was in Los Angeles. I highly recommend it!
Well, the guitar work is complete. Me, I'm just enjoying hearing his voice and thinking about him and Joni Mitchell, that I wouldn't want to tip toe in there...
