If anyone is seeing this video nowadays, the RPCS3 version has an issue with Vulkan renderer on the Minataur boss fight which causes it to crash and not allow directional inputs on the minigame for the fight. If you run into this issue on Vulkan, the solution is to switch to OpenGL renderer which lags significantly more but will allow you to continue then switch back once the fight is over.
@@dvm1126 God of War 2 works perfectly with fullscreen 1080p on PCSX2 with some scan lines visble in the large open areas but they aren't too much of an eyesore. Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta are buttery smooth on PPSSPP but when upscaled can look blurry at times. I haven't played the PS3 remaster so they may function better on RPCS3. God of War 3 so far works but I haven't played it yet. It needs the 1.03 update and all the patches that aren't cuscene related. Set frame limit to 60(FPS) and lower it to 30 when the harpy platforming sections occur. Ascension is the most difficult to emulate. Frame limit should be "auto" and all updates from 1.04 to 1.12 are required to have all the patches available. Expect 25 to 50 FPS on this one. If it doesn't boot after loading modules, make a shortcut to desktop and set it to "Run as administrator" in the shortcut's properties. EDIT: The UK version of Ascension wouldn't run for me but I got the American version today and it boots up just fine without any Shortcut, so far it's similar to GOW3. That said, make sure your PC can handle it. Try it out initially on native 720p with the recommended specs (FPS on Auto, FIFO accuracy to Atomic, etc) to be sure there are no stability issues and then run it at a higher res that suits and maybe with the "FidelityFX"option instead of "Bilinear" if you run below your monitor's native res. EDIT 2: Started playing GOW 3. There are some very minor texture issues with Kratos and very small parts of backgrounds. I have write colour buffers on so maybe asynchronous textures or a related setting may help if it gets annoying.
It's only an issue in the first game. The PSP Remasters, God of War 2, and God of War 3 work fine with Vulkan. Just Vulkan Renderer stability with that one game that I know of. This is all on RPCS3 by the way@@dvm1126
Question: Which emulator (PCSX2 / RPCS3 / PPSSPP) can run JUST ENOUGH on this spec (or is there anything need to be changed)? Core i5 4590 (4 Cores @ 3.30Ghz) 16GB DDR3 NVidia Quadro K2200 - 4GB GDDR5 Windows 7 64 bit
@@faisalfirdausiinn4708 you should be able to run at least some PSP and PS2 games at least at native resolution and normal aspect ratio. 4 cores is simply not enough to run most PS3 games tho. Many need at least 6 cores. RPCS3 is heavily focused on the CPU.
I highly recommend the RPCS3 version myself. 100% stability and performance. The CPU requirement compared to other PS3 titles is fairly low since it's a port of a PS2 game and RPCS3 does a great job at optimization considering the difficulty of PS3 emulation.
pcsx2 has nightly 64 bits version wich has better performance and can add high texture mod and with that looks awesome, even better than the ps3 ver on grapichs
@@Gundemoniumyesterday day I played gow 2 it’s work fine and 60 fps with texture 16 60 fps cutscenes 30 fps also gow volume 2 work fine and with 60 fps god of war chains of olympus and god of war ghost of sparta
There's also a HD Texture pack that you can use on PS2 version of God of War, which makes the UI look pretty much the same as the PS3 Collection, and it also modifies enemies, everything looks really good. I think the best way for me is using PCSX2 + HD Textures + Reshade, the game looks amazing, and since there's performance to spare because it's not RPCS3, reshade can work as an extra to make the game look even better, and as someone else has already said in the comments, the halo issue can be fixed by changing some settings.
@@aseroraorion3008 what do you mean exactly with reshade option? If you're talking about the rendering API, just choose the same one you're using in the graphics settings on PCSX2, be it OpenGL, or DirectX, etc
2:52, actually the halo issue can be fixed. Change your resolution to either 720p, 1440p or 2880p. and set the half pixel offset to special(texture), round sprite to half, align sprite enabled, and auto flush to enabled (sprites only). For some reason rendering the game in a resolution not divisible by those 3 causes this issue.
@@AzizTheGazele552 you have to go to the game and right click it and go to properties and then click "Graphics" click on "Rendering" then select "Manual Hardware Render Fixes" that will unlock a 2 new options called "Hardware Fixes" and "Upscaling Fixes" go to upscaling fixes and the options should be there
It's a shame GOW3 is damn near impossible to emulate beautifully but goddamn I love these games. I just played the 1,2,3 and Ghost of Sparta a few months ago.
@@Muath-cf4se I got gow 3 on rpcs3 yesterday and it runs really well.I have a nr7 5700x and rx 6600xt, at Helios right now running on 60 fps almost all the time
For a near 60fps at 4k internal resolution, you need a 5900x or better. The 5900x stil drops occasionall but runs the game with no (speedboost) patches nearly at 60fps at all times. But enable more patches and you can run it on a weaker processor.
@@TheSkyrocketYT I had a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X and I couldn't get past the beginning segment without massive FPS drops no matter my settings. It really sucked.
The FOV issue on RPCS3 seems is indeed fixed if you manage to update GOW Collection since it has a small patch available. So yes, RPCS3 is the best way to play the available GOW games on PS3, unless you have a weaker and older 4 core or less CPU which means PCSX2 is better for you.
These issues are negated with proper pcsx2 patches real question would be latency. I have had better latency emulating ps2 ports on rpcs3 in terms of latency. (Not God of war)
@@ThexXxXxOLOxXxXx Yeah sometimes the lag is super obvious. Like Jak games which luckily are getting fan pc ports. (PS3 versions have random movement bug)
The rog ally with the z1 extreme cpu is able to run emudeck perfectly, which helps with setting up emulation easily. After installing the bios in rpcs3 its able to play god of war 3 at 60 fps easy. Emudeck is amazing.
Can anyone help? Hi. I installed pcsx2 and started playing GOW, but in Pandora Temple, on the bridge, when the loading starts, the game doesn't go any further.
if u have a good pc which can run rcps3 games then do that. for me. i had no issues with it. and the patches work fine at least for me. but if not pcsx2 is still a great alternative
Can't wait for a remake of these games, not an over the shoulder type gameplay the reboot games have, but one where the older games all play like god of war 3
its never gonna happen. If they remake these titles, what you are going to get is GOW18 style Soulslike gameplay. They've abandoned the game engine of the older titles and moved on.
@@OXY187 they should do something with the older engine the new one is boring and repetitive. At least the old one was a mix of platforming and combat that included air combos and not just over the shoulder button mashing
Can't you play all these god of war games on the playstation now app on pc? I played GOW 3 like that a few months back...just plug your ps5 controller up to usb and pay the subscription fee of course
I've been trying to get this game to work on RPCS3 on IT WILL IT NOT LAUNCH. It doesn't even show the Logo Screen it just instantly Crashes. I've followed multiple people settings and IT WILL NOT LAUNCH and it's really infuriating.
anyone here playing on keyboard ? i don't know how to pass through quick time events with a freaking keyboard whenever I need to do a 180° with a dualshock 🤣
Anyone knows how I could complete the Medusa mission? Ive been using keyboard so i can't rotate analog which makes it impossible to advance in the story.
For some reason, when trying to emulate the PS2 version the screen cuts off at the lower half. For example, I can't see the bosses' healthbars when they should appear, they get cut off. Do you, or does anyone in this comment section, know about any fix for this? I've googled it everywhere and nobody seems to have this issue, the most I've gotten is a solution for black bars in cutscenes.
Hello, please put a setting for god of war 2, this game also has a frame drop, thank you, I have tested these settings for god of war 1, the frame drop was very low, thank you.
I have the gow collection for the Rpcs3 . I started playing the game without any isues but i cant save my progress. Is there any way i can save my data?
Me here watching all the emulator nerd typing psx2 hd extra high extraordinary infinite tatakae prox is the best but it has half frate rate blah blah blah but it's how I prefer to play in but....( I came here to find how to download the game)💀
this is actually kinda clickbait because you still need either a jailbroken ps3 + the god of war disc OR a blu-ray disc reader in your pc + the god of war disc, so no, you can't just "play god of war in your pc right now"
